on youtube...she had wls about 1 and half years ago and just recently had the very same surgery you are considering....congrats....love your videos...I'm one week out from RNY.
ilTommyd sent me a link to your vids and I'm really excited to "meet" you. We are very, very similar in our journeys -- I was a size 30 and am now a size 6; I had my RNY in December 2007, and I had SHIN SPLINTS!!! I use Saucony running shoes, but found that I STILL need orthotics. I was down for the count for 5, freaking months with those painful mothers. Anyway, would love to connect more with you, so maybe you could view my blog and vids and all that good stuff and we could compare notes. :-)
Because my mom lost her job, my new insurance doesn't cover anything weight loss related so I can't get plastic surgery at all. I wish. I'm 18, lost 170 lbs, and I have really sucky hanging skin. Not the best feeling when you're this young. Good luck to you, I know insurance can suck so fingers are crossed.
HI Taunia!!! Oh my gosh I am so excited for you! Its so terrific that you may get plastic surgery! I am over a year out and need to lose about 20 more pounds so I can go to see if I could qualify. I am so thrilled you are going to do videos about your journey! After watching you on here I decided to have weight loss surgery... Its been the greatest change in my life!!! Thanks to you and your insightful videos! You are rock!!!
You should look at skymoon1982, she got breast lift and implants, tummy tuck and brazilian butt lift not so long ago in Colombia and you can follow all her journey on youtube. It's very informative. Good luck!
I'm glad to see that you got your insurance back. Did you have to go through Cobra or a private carrier or were you lucky enough to get another employer to provide it for you. Sorry if I am asking too many questions. I've been unemployed for a while due to health issues unrelated to my RNY back in 2008 and am finally getting back on my feet, but like you, I have excess skin on my midsection, my chest is another subject. It is all causing major back probelms and I need to find away for plastics
I had a breast reduction when I was 18, it was the best decision I ever made. My spine had begun to hunch over and I was having never issues in my arms and hands due to all the weight. My recovery for that was minimal I had done over Christmas break . Unfortunetly there is a significant amount of nerve damaged associated with surgery. It's been 5 years and I still have parts of my breasts that are without feeling...BUT I am very happy that I did it. Good luck!
Good for you! I'm sure you will get approval. I do have excess skin but it doesn't hang....just looks like elephant skin...wrinkle city. Boobies went from 42 DD to 36 Long! Oh well, such is the life of a WLS patient! I have more concerns with my face. I aged 20 years. Not good. I do plan on a face lift soon.
thats awesome! I go on the 9th for my intake class. I already have taken an intro class and a throid test. I am nervous about the surgery but also cant wait! I have had two csections so the pain isnt so much a worry cause ive dealt with pain. Im just scared of dying or something. i have two beautiful babies that i want to be healthy and happy for. BUT....i watch you all the time.
Congrats Taunia! I'll be crossing my fingers for you. I would love to have my skin chopped off but my insurance doesn't cover it :( Maybe after I pay off my actual surgery....
Great News!! Good luck on Friday, I will keep my fingers crossed for you. Friday is a big day for me as well as my Roux-en-y is Friday, Feb. 26th. Yay for both of us ;D. Take care. Sheila.
Thanks for sharing.... I'm having such a tough time with the hanging skin on my arms. The weight actually hurts. My belly isn't has bad as I thought it was going to be, but I do have days of neck & back pain, but mostly due to my arms
When you said Diamond Dallas Page... I immediately thought of the wrestler... & low-n-behold... one and the same!! LOL... cool!! thx for the share btw!!
yay..crossing fingers for you!!! I have had two consults at the psurgeon I would like to use. I will not be approved by insurance so will be saving. In addition, after this unexpected surgery I just had....I do not have it in me to go through surgery any time soon....but that being said, I am uncomfortable for sure!!! and NEED it...
my two cents... I dont think that you should get the surgery right now. I follow your vids and you recently had surgery where you almost died I think that you should wait. let your body really heal dont rush it I havent had plastic surgery but I am not considering even arm surgery until I am two years post op. - but good luck no matter what you decided just my opinion.
i'm with goodnplenty on this issue...and MY 2 cents: if you're going to get plastic surgery I think you should work out a lot and get in the best shape of your life then you should get it done.
Good news, Taunia...hope they approve it for you. In my self-help group here in Germany we had a guest speaker in November who has had ALL the PSs there are. He showed slides of EVERYTHING and I also saw all his scars, some of which are VERY long, which were healing beautifully. He works out almost daily and looks fantastic. He is very, very satisfied with the results and only had real pain after one of them. I could try to find my notes if you´d like.
I have always said that I will not have plastics unless my loose skin becomes a health issues. Which it sounds as though yours is. Good luck for the appointment, and the insurance approval.
Hey Taunia thanks for the update! There was a Meet and Greet in Vegas this wkend and one of the guest speakers was a plastic surgeon. He spoke about all types of plastics post bariatric pt have. His practise specializes in post bariatric plastic procedures. AntoniaTakeTwo's husband I believe arranged that not sure if they recorded it or not, but there was a lot of great info given. Good luck on Friday I hope you get approved!
So happy for you about the Plastic surgery. I am in the same boat. I am done 121 pounds I also have sink problems but I have not talk to my doctor about this at all. I know all about stuffing your self in to the spanks 8) your great.
