Nice! I prefer a boosted 3.0 any day, but a 5 cyl audi motor is still fitting. Thumbs up for not dropping chevy garbage in there. Audi is definitely in the peidgree.
@Prestostark if this is the same one i've seen on rennlist (pretty sure it is, i doubt someone else has done a conversion like this), the horsepower is somewhere in the upper 700's. ridiculous, right!
@TheHevquip Holy sh#t! That would be crazy fun I campaigned a 951 in the SCCA for 8 seasons - 360 HP (ARW), 330ft/# and 2700 lbs, that car was as fast and fun as anything...Can't imagine almost double the HP...Crazy! I want to try it out. Thanks for the info, Hevquip!
@Prestostark actually, there's a dyno read out at the end of this vid and now that i think about it, at least two people have done this conversion and this isn't the particular car i was thinking of.
@TheHevquip Wonder if they knew each other or if this is a more convenient conversion than SB Chev...I always thought it would be great to do a Z-06 engine and trans axle in a 944...
@Prestostark i've always thought about the ls conversions, they're sick. i think for the audi swap, they have to cut into the firewall and can't use porsche's transaxle, they have to use the audi tranny and the engine sits a little further up in the bay, like over the axle. anyway, i'm getting a big chunk of money soon and getting another 951, either i'll stroke it to 2.8 or look for a 3.0 liter block out of a 968 or 944 S2. i'm gonna throw enough money and tuning at it until i'm around 500 HP!
@TheHevquip Sweet! If you want some good engine management for your 951 check out Random EMS. A buddy of mine is the owner and has been doing 951 tweeks for years. It's all lap top programmable, with multiple parameter setting for different track conditions etc. He currently runs a 2.8 (or somewhere around there) that is putting out 425 at the rear wheels without using crazy amounts of boost...
@TheHevquip When using audi transmission, its more cleverer to use the whole quattro transmission, with axles etc.Other than that its a bit of work mating the audi transmission with porsche axles.
Was audi I5 designed by porsche? Because if it wasn't it would make more sence to put a volvo I5 in it since it was designed by porsche.

I love the sound of a turbo 5 but I didn't think the Audi 20v would fit in my 944...My 2.7 is not too happy as it approaches the 250,000 mile mark.

@Prestostark SB chevy sounds nice and packs a punch, but the 5 cyl sounds great and it has plenty of performance to go around.
