  • I think or I believe she says: no kisses, no real names.. and not "grab my choke" she says white white shirt , back to work..

  • @cche16 "Avant garde" is 10 letters. It's as "big" a word (thought it's actually two) as "pineapples" (I hope to God you know what those are). If you're so ignorant (ig-ner-unt lacking in knowledge) so as to criticize someone else for having an appropriate (uh-proh-pree-it suitable) vocabulary for their situation, you need to expand (ik-spand make larger) your own and look up the damn phrase. I do think she's rather avant garde, by the way.

  • Are you guys arguing if she's trying to be create her own individual style? Isn't that the idea for every artist? No art is really good unless the artist is really trying to express the vulnerable part of themselves that makes them individual. Thats why Daniel Johnston may not sound that great on a surface level, but he's easier to connect to than the Backstreet Boys.

  • I love Annie's new album "Strange Mercy" so much, but to be honest this is the worst track on the album by far.

  • @hunteriffy In your opinion. For me this is a masterfully crafted song. So Punk and sophisticated at the same time, is genius!

  • aaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. fucking raw.

  • WOW

  • DAT RIFF!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • sounds to me like "no kisses, no real names".

  • Just read the interview of this broad in "Guitar Player" magazine. They play her up to be some bad ass guitar player. I guess if sloppy

playing and a tone that sounds like hippos having sex after eating at

Taco Bell is the in thing for guitar players, then she has it right in

the pocket. Her use of unpredictable arrangements are cool but the

way it's done sounds more like someone intentionally trying to

sound different. She is cute though in a frail sorta way.

  • @peteware1 i think you need a hug

  • @peteware1 Dude, she's as Prog - Punk as any Prog - Punk can be. So yes, she's intentionally trying to sound different. Or you think Pink Floyd's, Yes' Black Flag's King Crimson's experimental elements were just a bunch of accidents that happened in the studio? Or they aren't noticeable that they were trying to create something never tried before? C'mon. Give this artist credit. She's trying something different and not goin' with the top 40's pre fabricated music studio formulas.

  • @vivelavidarocka "Give this artist credit. " Did better I bought

the CD "Strange Mercy ". I didn't swipe it off the internet. In fact I was able to duplicate her guitar tone using a 100w Marshall through a Bose 802. The trick was to cover the face of the 802 with foil. It's a unique tone for sure. Won't work on a 4x12 though.

  • This song is so hard to predict. I love it.

  • Best song from album. Can't stop listening! New favorite song this whole year!

  • Weird shit..... but I like it

  • DAT BASS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I love this song, one of my fav's from the album.

  • omg. the percussion in this song really gives it that crazy punch. i'm in love in this album!

  • @MrMickeybitzko Well that was a little overly dramatic and hyperbolic, but I'll take your word for it.

  • When I listen to this song; I think of a cat named Chloe just lolly-gaging about around the house in the middle of the afternoon.

Goes in the letterbox, analyzed inferior creatures; does it's thing.

This is exactly what Annie Clarke/St vincent was thinking when she wrote this :P

  • best song out right now...hands down...when songs sound like this problems get solved..

  • How is anything this fucking perfect. I don't know why, but this makes me think of a classy summertime fling. With a slightly older and impossibly sophisticated man. I am in love.

  • Take Joan Jett, reverse her polarity, add another giant brain to the equation, cover it in phosphorescent red and orange paint and call it Fall and this is what you get. I literally cannot wait to see her perform this one on 10/25 here in Houston at Fitzgerald's.

  • @ghostecho09 I was there! Wasn't it just the best show?! She blew my mind. I've been obsessed ever since.

  • I get a very Bowie feeling vibe from the album, with a little late-MBV (Soft as Snow (But Warm Inside) anyone?) and Jesus Lizard thrown in for good measure to create one of the best albums of the 2010's. A very brittle, cold, poppy, layered atmospheric album.

  • Say what you will, St. Vincent videos have the most interesting comments of all of youtube musicdom.

  • Flipping awesome. Jammin' this in the car on the way to work, it just made me feel cool.

  • Chloe in the afternoon... The river Temarc in winter. Darmok and Jalad at Tanagra.

  • Chloe in the afternoon

    Chloe in the afternoon

    Glory in the afternoon

  • How can this be HQ if the best is 360p?

  • @inasafeplace the audio, not the picture. HQ=high quality. HD=high definition.

  • Sick Rohmer reference, St. Vincent.

  • The brain flutters, the mind reels, the psyche collapses into itself as the beat puts on its jackboots and the guitar roots through the trash. Clark is Sylvia Plath for a cyberpunk world, elegant and neurothenic, a fine crystal goblet with a bead of blood running down from the rim.

  • @MrMickeybitzko my God...that was the most amazing response I've seen to anything EVER.

  • @MrMickeybitzko I've got to hand it to you, that was wonderfully pretentious!

  • @MrMickeybitzko Oh god shut your pretentious stupid mouth.

  • @MrMickeybitzko lmao what the fuck are you even babbling about? you sound like the pretentious, stuck-up Harvard prick in good will hunting that thought he knew everything but got shut down by matt damon. how do you like them apples?

  • @cche16 Yeah, right? Reads like a Vanity Fair or The Economist review of a song. My God! the petulance.... Why just don't say "is fucking good" period!

And I've noticed the slow but steady increase of snobby new fans, that perceive her as being an "avant garde" musician (and she is, but not for the "snobbysm" of the term) when she's just more Punk than anything else.

  • @vivelavidarocka LMAO what the fuck is avant garde?! like, why do these snobby music fans try to one up us regular music lovers by attempting to sound smarter than the rest of us by using unnecessary big words? they just ruin it for everyone else & embarrass themselves. What are you trying to prove? Are you that insecure? does using big words make up for one's short comings?? So pathetic. Cheerleader reminded me of Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana

  • @cche16

    2/10 made me reply

  • @CheapHoudini what are you talking about?

  • Your legs I'm all nerves Black lacquered Horse hair whip My own heels Heal my hurt Horse hair whip Feel your floor Chloe in the Afternoon Chloe in the Afternoon Chloe in the Afternoon Chloe in the Afternoon Chloe in the Afternoon No kisses, no real needs No kisses, no real needs Who here Hear your word Ring, ring phone Send you home Find my heels Heal my hurt Grab my choke? Back to work
  • Am I the only one getting a Bjork-ish vibe from this song? Especially the opening line @ 0:08.

  • @Mxmlmn quite right

  • @Mxmlmn No you're not. It's Bjorkish for sure :O

  • @Mxmlmn I get a Bowie Scary Monsters feel from the whole record, or the Berlin trilogy (especially Lodger).

  • that was sick wicked and nasty

  • she is incredible. this may be my favorite album of hers so far.
