they really don't...personally I prefer snk's fighting mechanics better than capcom's street fighter. you can't even run in street fighter or dodge effectively. there are less characters in street fighter and each character has less moves. A lot of Rock Howard's background and storyarcs rely on the possibility of Geese's existence. It wouldn't be the first time that a video game/fictional character is revived. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be alive in canon.

@Archedgar Geese is only alive in the KOF/Vs series, but no where in any FF after Real Bout is he alive. That's why in the sequels to Real Bout Nightmare Geese (with the halo over his head) is the hidden boss. The Garou MOTW story does not indicate that Geese is alive whatsoever. KOF isn't considered cannon by any Neo Geo site or publication in regards to FF.

I think the name "Howard" and homeland USA before the match are dead give-aways but true, physical traits are not alone enough even though I have blue eyes and blond hair and look as Nordic as it gets.

Post Scriptum: America, being the melting pot of different ethnic backgrounds, has no definitive physical traits. Only Japs think you're all blondes since that's the archetype of a gangster to them.

Back in the day, fireballs were integral parts of every 2D fighter worth it's salt. Nowadays fireballs kind of suck, but back then you NEEDED'em for offensive pressure.

His appearance in FFS paved the way for KOF.

P.S. Ryo is also hidden final boss in Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition for Playstation.

In that game he appears as Mr. Karate II!
