anyone know what is being said at the start here? after looking over the available scenes I can't figure out how those guys had that little polymorph captive in the tree, considering the wide range of things she can turn into.
I like a lot of 70s anime much better than stuff they make now, at least visually. Sure, it was never great animation to begin with, but it used to be a LITTLE more fluid back then. Plus they just seemed to use stronger poses that carried the action better---the characters seem more alive in this older stuff than they do most of the time now.
Since this was Tezuka, I know he would have made this in full animation if he had had the budget for it.
When the robot's face falls off at 04:36, that's a parody of the 1973 movie "Westworld" with Yul Brynner as one of the robots that attack people at a futuristic amusement park.
And at 7:03 our hero is being followed by a flock of birds, and in the background is a figure with the word "Hitchcock" printed on it...you can guess what movie that refers to!
Hehe! Osamu Tezuka was just awesome! Like in all his manga and anime, he used his regular cast of characters in Bandar Book. We can see Tetsuwan Atom, HigeOyaji, the gourd-like character, a clone of Dr. Ochanomizu, Black Jack, and even Osamu himself sticks his head out of the crowd! He was just incredible.
Did I just see a rabbit change into prostitute and burn a robot cowboy to death?

This must have made Astro Boy. Not is the style the same but some of the characters look exactly alike.

Taoku 3 years ago
Its because it was made by the great Osamu Tezuka, the father of manga and anime as it is today. He always used his same characters in all his works.
Onikiri 3 years ago
are you just saying that because Astro appears at 4:58?

This animation makes me think of the old animated movie 'Wizards' more than anything. Those odd transforming creatures take the cake.
