  • I used to make ashtrays like this 15 years ago. :)

  • That's cool - were there any fumes?

  • MountainQueen there are no fumes cause nothing was burning. If the vinyl is on fire then there are fumes. There are ways to even use metal pots and pans to melt in the oven. Something like 5 mins at 250 degrees. Use your imagination...

  • Man, I love this.

  • This guy was way advanced...making videos for youtube BEFORE youtube! haha

  • hi there.

i wanna melt some vinyl records.. do you know if vinyl actually melts to a liquid, so it could be dripped onto a canvas? cheers

  • Not shure but if you have an old stove with post and pans I'd give it a shot...but just in case make sure you have a flame putter outer available. I wouldn't really know but it is plastic so just start slow and work your way up....

  • put the vinyl in the oven at 200F hot for 5 minutes or so, it will melt down (when you put it in the oven put it on top of a glass bowl or so, so it melts down, or it could be on a cookie sheet, its all good)

after 5 or 7 minutes, take it out, it should be melted, and mold away.....

  • Thanks for the vid. I just bought 40 old records for 10 cents each and now I am going to start melting .....

  • this is cool dude
