  • Just because you brush your teeth does not mean you wont get periodontal. I brush and floss evey day! Yet Im in my 3rd stage of gum disease...just sayin!

  • @mandajoyable mine is from type 2 diabetes. lack of blood flow. the doctor commented how well i had taken care of my teeth.

  • Brush your teeth or that will be you

  • AHHHHHHHH. OMG

  • Wtf are they doing to that poor woman?!

  • it ll also lengthen the crown, on the posterior teeth...!! wont it???

  • Hmmm back when I had my braces I would eat horrible.. Take out along with soda but lately I quit soda and drink juice and water.. Nothing carbonated because it irritates my gums

  • Yes but I know forsure mine is from neglected oral hygiene.. There's no alternatives to this?

  • ReConVaporZz, & diet.....what do you eat & drink??

  • @gestergester is there any way to get reduced pocket depths without having the extreme recession showing. I would much rather have to lose my teeth then have teeth that look like Ive been chewing rocks, unfortunately I neglectedy my dental hygiene when I was 10-11 years old and now I have periodontal disease.

  • @ReConVaporZz You might feel better to hear that mainly these issues are genetic. Half the population have this problem and you should not feel bad. I had this very surgery this morning and although I am a little uncomfortable, I don't feel bad.

  • @TubeTrollster I am not sure if you watched the video entirely. At the end, it shows the six-month follow up exam.

  • is it the gingival recession a consecuence of the surgery, or is it caused by the periodontal disease??

  • @alkorkon2007 --- There is already pre-existing bone loss from the disease. The soft-tissue BEFORE surgery is thick and inflamed. It is "masking" the true amount of recession that is there. AFTER surgery the resulting healthier gum tissue is thinner and tighter, so you begin to see the true recession that was there. There is an old saying.... "You can have longer teeth, or teeth no longer".....

  • look into laser surgery!

  • Hello,

I always see this surgery done for the visible front of the teeth. Can this surgery be done for the inner (non-visible) teeth?

I have recession on my outer and inner lower incisors. Last week, I was eating pretzel sticks, when I bit down, the pretzel posted in my mouth and pinched off a big chuck of my gum on my lower inner incisor. Can this surgery be done on my inner (non-visible) lower incisor?

  • @youcantakeapunch Yes, you can do surgery anywhere. But you may be thinking of gum grafting to add gum tissue.

  • I feel an urge to brush my teeth.

  • cause of death..OVERZEALOUS DENTAL SCALING AND PLANING.

  • they didn't say how this lady DIED SHORTLY AFTER SURGERY!

  • @TubeTrollster --and where is your proof of making such a statement?

  • @TubeTrollster FFS I've just had this done 2 hours ago .Does feel like I could die right enough

  • @TubeTrollster With proper medications and post-op instructions, patient feel fine after surgery. Yes it is uncomfortable the most in the first 3 days. However, recommendations are that you start IBUPROFEN 600mg (prescription dose Advil) 1 hour before surgery, and continue REGULARLY for 3 days straight taking IBUPROFEN 600mg every 6 hours, even if you feel fine. Tylenol #3 can be taken TOGETHER with Advil when needed to take the "edge" off otherwise. This COMBO works very well.

  • @TubeTrollster why did she die ? or are u trolling ?

  • @bebeto158 derp

  • ewwwwwwwwwww is this scaling and planing?

  • What is stopping the patient from swallowing that poison that they're pulling out of her gum tissue????.....I DON'T TRUST ANY DOCTOR 2 DO THIS 2 MY MOUTH.!!! ...There must be a less barbaric procedure that this.....MY GOD!!!!

  • @Yashaabakadawbra You must be a time traveler. Don't let the crazy doctors touch you with them crazy watchamacallits!!!

  • shes gonna be in such pain after the surgery... i hope she gets good drugs

  • This is still considered standard of care. Though in this clinicians POV this is an antiquated, cruel and barbaric procedure that should not be done in light of LANAP.

It is unfortunate that institutions like the ADA and the AAP continue to obfuscate this truth.

Unfortunately less than 1% of US dentist are offering LANAP, even though the FDA clearance is over 5 years old and has been in the literature over 10 years.

  • @johnddscom For elimination of deep periodontal pockets a blade is fast and effective to achieve the reduction of pockets. LANAP is only done with a hard tissue laser... how many office can afford the purchase and maintenance of a hard tissue laser? LANAP without flapping is questionable... how is those deep subgingival calculus removed without flapping and root planning? LANAP I can only see it as an adjunct, not a replacement of a surgical procedure.

  • @t5e2 LANAP is not done with a hard tissue laser. If you do not know that, then you have never done LANAP. Therefore you do not know what you do not know. The laser has a greater kill for Periodontal pathogens than the blade. Maybe you can not afford a laser for your patients. Patients can discern what is in their best interest and will chose the least barbaric. It is an adjunct a very effective adjunct for the #1 cause of tooth loss.

  • @t5e2 so you agree it is only an adjunct to a perio surgery. Laser can kill pathogen I totally understand that, and sure it can "assist" in new attachments. But it alone cannot do it all no matter what the manufacturers sell it, a surgery is still necessary to achieve a good result, especially in those deep deep pockets.

  • @t5e2 Yes, it is a very good and effective adjunct to perio surg. Deep, Deep, Deep pockets respond very well to LANAP. I should know I have done over 1000 cases and published my results. How many have you done?

  • @johnddscom Zero. LANAP the patented procedure with only a specific laser. Don't own that very laser, no LANAP. Sure it is understandable for someone owning a laser that expensive to sell the LANAP treatment to recover the investment.

I do not doubt the efficacy of LANAP as an adjunct IN ADDITION to surgery, but I question it as an alternative replacement to surgery.

  • @t5e2 No need to do traditional surgery for pocket elimination. Yes traditional surgery is still necessary for grafting or crown lengthening.

  • @johnddscom ...thank you sir...without your information on Lanap, I too was going to go along the status quo of the periodontist's barbaric way of solving my perio problem. He was looking to charge me $10000.00 and a whole lot of pain. I was lucky to find a dentist in my area and I wont leave him. Please continue to educate the not knowing. thanks johnddscom

  • is that a Widmann technique? why did the eliminate the circular ligament?
