Wow, really good job ;D Could you tell me what photoshop tool you used to smooth out the lines. for example you drew the lines at about 3:05 then you started smoothing them out. :D
@iNs3CuRePL Hi. Well, I'm not using Photoshop for this, but rather Corel Painter X. The tool is a simulated blender called "Just Add Water", found under "Blenders" in Painter's brush selector bar (seen on the top right).
Photoshop does have a similar tool called "smudge tool", though it can have a somewhat different result.
Good Lord. You make it act like paper! I have Intuos4 and the whole CS4 shebang, but I'm old and rusty lol. When I was younger I did loads of pencil sketches, as of yet I haven't found the "magic" software to make this pen feel and act like a pencil. I have loads of Adobe toys I can't even use yet lol. Somewhere I have a free corel painter that came with the tablet, didn't use it much. Is Corel Draw the best prog for this type of drawing, as opposed to "anchorpoints and handles" drawing?
@aliendogbrain Well, from my experience, the most "realistic" digital painting software is Corel Painter (not Corel Draw, though; that's a vector software for drawing with "anchorpoints and handles", as you put it).
It really does feel like you're drawing on paper. For me, at least :-)
Although I tend to use more than one software (Corel Painter for lines, Photoshop for colors or vice versa).
@mQtek Well, there are some presets, but, basically, it all comes down to pressure sensitivity. The harder you push, the thicker the lines and the darker the tones are. Although you can tinker with the opacity settings for a more "organic" look and feel.
OH WOW! That was amazing! I normally draw on paper, but every time I try and draw on PC programs its just impossible. what program and what do u use for it? Really Loved it
@mafiosa2309 Hi, cheers for that. I use a simple Wacom Bamboo (they come in pretty cheap these days) with Corel Painter X and, sometimes, Photoshop CS3.
@magicjonothen92 hi, the original video was supposed to have Muse's Take a Bow as a soundtrack, but YouTube muted it for copyright infringement (what else is new?). Don't know why it still says 'Muse - Take a Bow' though.
The song that's playing is actually one of the many generic alternatives they offered - it's All Swedish, No Finish, by The Kite-Eating Tree.
i just got a bamboo tablet for x-mas and i wanted to search on youtube for video's similar to my artwork and see how far the artists could take it... id always be stuck to pencil and paper and tld mymom i wanted to put my work up in Deviantart
SORRY!!!! WRONG VIDEO!!!! OMFG!!!!!!!! i totally went to the page i was previously at to comment on this other video!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was soooooooooooooooooooo a brunette moment!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i got the pages mixed up on my computer!!!!!!!! sorry for the life story... I have just deleted those unessesary comments from your page...
Well, I have to say that at first it was nothing like drawing on paper, at least for me.
I mean, the texture isn't too bad, but things felt a bit too slippery and it was quite frustrating the first few hours trying to adjust to drawing while looking at a monitor.
But after a couple of hours, yes, it almost felt like drawing on paper. It's not easier - if one can't draw on paper, the tablet won't make you the most talented artist in the world.
I'm taking a college course throughout which Ill eventually need a rather powerful tablet.
I wasn't just sure what to get for starters, because Cintiq is way expensive and Intuos 4, although good, would throw a wrench in my wallet if I wanted to upgrade to Cintiq afterwards.
So I thought on wether I should get a bamboo to start playing around with digital painting and sketching... and for a starter tablet it seems to do the job. The rest is definitly up to the artist.
Absolutely. For beginners, there's simply nothing better than the Wacom Bamboo, because that's what it actually is, an entry-level tablet (and believe me, it does the job exceptionally well).
Also, If you find that you can't get used to using one, well... it's better to have spent like €70 instead of hundreds or thousands for a Cintiq.
Hi. Well, the buttons are assigned to my Wacom tablet, but in any case, you can press 'E' on the keyboard to access the Rotate Tool and rotate the canvas with your mouse freely. Notice that an icon will appear on the toolbar indicating the degree to which your canvas is being rotated. When you want to rotate it back to its original position, you just click on that icon and move the slider back to 0º.
I just stick to the standard tools, no custom brushes. I tend to use the Cover Pencil tool for sketching and outlining (sometimes, if i want to go for a more polished line art, I use the Scratchboard pen tool); I then use an Oils brush for the colors, which I blend in with the Just Add Water tool under 'Blenders' .
Hey dude, i just bought a wacom bamboo FUN and i'm wondering if i can use mutiple layer on the program that comes with it ( Corel painter Essentials 4). I have PS cs2 can i do that with this too? Thanks!
Hi. Well, my guess is yes. Even though it's a 'lighter' version of the software, I don't see why that feature would be unavailable. About PS, that's about the best piece of software you can have if you're planing multiple layer works. Both are great for working with tablets.
haha thanks, I don't think I'm that good, really. Just a lot of practice, I guess (I've been drawing since I was like 4 lol), but I'm still a bit far from where I want to be in many aspects of drawing.
for me, it took awhile, but i was determined, but yeah its rly easy now. and you can see from ym first video how i sucked (made the vid 2 days after i got the tablet xD) and my newest video :P (after i got sued to ti)
wow.

Umm, one question, most of them don't know to answer me.
My dad is soon gonna buy me one tablet, but:
I don't know should i buy this Bamboo fun or Wacom or how do they call it
OR
The expensive one with the desktop on the tablet itself?
ADVICE PLEASE
Ki1998M 1 year ago
@Ki1998M depends on how good you are at the drawing, you can accomplish anything awesome with either.

Hola
El tamaño es el mas pequeño de Wacom (9,5 por 10 cm de área de diseño) y funciona impecable.
Si pudiera, me compraría un tamaño un poquito mas grande, pero no me puedo quejar, por ahora me sirve muy bien ;-)

Glad you like it. Well, about the tablet, I'm not gonna lie, it did take some time to get used to and in my case, 2 particularly frustrating days.
But after you 'learn' to have some eye-hand coordination (it's weird not to look down when you're drawing) you're good to go ;-)
