@NeverEnding1dr1 As I recall, another big difference is that the German version doesn't include the Neverending Story song performed by Limahl.

And interestingly, the theme of Neverending Story 2 is a weak modified version of Limahl's song. (Dreams We Dream)

the original german movie version was also like 10 minutes longer, because they even cut out some scenes for the international release.

Pretty cool, kind of an 80ies classic.

A little too much reverb sauce overall to fill in the gaps between the good "supercheese" moments.

Like the pan flute and the use of choir.

It would have been really cool for the sound if the string section would have been more massive.

Something is lacking in the instrumentation - either it's percussion or a satisfying bass counterpoint.

But... what can you say, it is what it is! :o)

Why couldn't they just left this in the american version? It bugs me they always do this to internationally made films in the american versions (even though these films are made in English language)...international versions are always better, more complete.

Everything up until 1:33 is in both versions. Considering the Ivory Tower theme, its a matter of personal taste wich version you prefer, I think Doldingers is beautiful, but still prefer the Ivory Tower to have an own theme, like Moroders, while Doldingers is really a slow version of the Happy Flight theme. But there are truth in what you say.

I agree both versions are good but its better the Ivory Tower has its own theme and the Moroders version is the one I grew up with and think that is the Better Ivory Tower theme

Die Musik von diesem Film ist einfach der Hammer!!Ich schaue ihn mir immer wieder gerne an und muß jedesmal heulen wenn das pferd stirbt :-( und dann dazu diese traurige Musik das tut sein übriges....in der englischen Version ist die Musik ganz anders und gefällt mir überhaupt nicht.

ja gell...find ich auch...die musik in der englischen version ist nicht so toll.... außer die englische version von ARTAX'S TOD, ich finde die englische version passt besser zu der szene,und die musik ist auch schön.. aber sonst...die deutsche musik rockt.

It's true, this is almost the same music as in "Theme of sadness", but not completely. The "Theme of sadness", or "Die Sümpfe Der Traurigkeit" as it is called on the german soundtrack, is a somewhat different and calmer version, while I prefer this version.
