  • This is my favorite Disney Christmas movie from the 80's

  • God, this story used to scare me so much when I was a kid, but I loved it. I'm gonna watch it again now, on 24th of December, to awake the Christmas spirit :)

  • This is my childhood!!! We had it on VHS.....anyone remember the legend of sleepy hollow which followed after mickeys xmas carol?? It used to scare me shitless at the time....now its one of my fave horror stories. But yeah, this is one of my fave adaptions of a christmas carol.

  • @Tabitha43 Same with me. They don't make cartoons like they use too.

  • to the dislikers: HUMBUG!

    i love this. so cute.

    thanks for posting!

    and merry Christmas all!

  • Wow i still remembered this intro, it's not overdone or anything, it's calming, I know it's christmas when i see these timeless drawings.

  • This song makes me feel warm inside when I listen to it and makes me think of when I would have Christmas with my family.

  • BEAUTIFUL!!!! Also, R.I.P Clarence Nash, you truely was the tempermental duck that I've always known and loved.

  • this is my favourite christmas song. in my favourite christmas movie. it reminds me of childhood

  • Love the intro with scenes of characters! :)

  • This song always puts me in a christmasy mood. Even when it's not even close to Christmas.

  • @Videot01 i ALWAYS GET EMOTIONAL AROUND CHRISTMAS, AND I LOVE THIS SHOW.

  • This song makes me cry for some reason.

  • i watch this every year at 8:00 pm on christmas eve =] when i have my own kids this is gonna be a tradition! to watch this movie

  • It is Christmas where I am at and I love watching this during this time of the year, it feels more meaningful when it is watched on Christmas eve and day.

  • Merry Christmas everyone!!!

  • Ah, I love this song...I remember it always brought a smile to my face when I was watching this as a child. It still does.

  • For everybody seeking the official sheet music, it is available for download on the musicnotes website! I'm so glad to finally have it!

  • What a beautiful song. This ought to be made an official Christmas hymn.

  • 0:56 "And the creative talents of... JOHN LASSETER"

For me, nowadays John is the most important person when it comes to a great disney/pixar picture and thats not because only of the animation.

  • @Bocilicious1 I totally geeked out the first time I recognized John's name in the credits!

  • Beautiful song.

  • If anybody wants a DVD of Mickey's Christmas Carol AS ORIGINALLY AIRED in the 80s with the Donald and Pluto cartoons before it AS WELL AS Michael Eisner's introduction at the beginning, then please send me a PM.

  • This song is simply classic, beautiful and true to the christmas tradition! I LOVE IT!!! :D

  • god - I want this song!!!

  • Υπέροχο τραγούδι :)

  • This opening always mooves me. Sadly this is the last time Clarence Nash would ever play Donald Duck, he passed away two years after he made this film

  • @snakes3425

    Yeah, that´s so sad.

Sadly Wayne Allwine passed away too.

This was his first cartoon as the role of Mickey Mouse

  • This is one of the greatest adaptions of a Christmas Carol.

  • am i the only one who thinks this should be a christmas song? as in a carol song?

  • I can't get enough of this song! Carolers should sing this song in front of peoples houses! ^-^

  • Love this...why don't they play this on TV anymore? Has anyone seen it recently?

  • Now I´m crying.

This was a lovely cartoon and the first of Wayne Allwine as Mickey Mouse.

I can´t beliveve Mister Allwine passed away.

He was the best Mickey Mouse ever.

    Rip Allwine.

By the way, this was the last cartoon of Clarence " Ducky " Nash as the voice of Donald Duck

  • what is the name off this song?

  • @bijqcxqokj2

Oh What A Merry Chrismas Day

  • I had this on tape when I was younger but it was broken :(((( I must to find it again!

  • does anyone know the name of this song?

  • Comment removed

  • The song is "Oh What A Merry Christmas Day." Lyrics by Fredrick Searles. Music by Irwin Kostal, who also composed & conducted the background music for this movie.

  • love it :)

  • -tears up-

  • I still watch this every Christmas with my family. I love it. And I love to sing this song!

  • what a shame disney isn't like this anymore, and never will be again.....

  • I think they will someday look at the princess and the frog at least they are trying real animation

  • i loved this movie as a kid!!! STILL DO!!! it's a classic. love disney.

  • Definitely my favorite Christmas flick. It'll air Dec 8th on ABC FAMILY.

  • Thanks for sharing this!

  • The Family Channel is showing it this year.

  • what is the namn off this song?

  • Oh my God I remember watching this when I was waaaaay little!

  • What year is this movie? I keep trying to watch it, but its not the same one. A 1983 film keeps showing up, but it isn't this version. Please help. I just need to know the year of this movie.

  • i thing i dont agree with...WHY THE HECK IS GOOFY MARLEY?!

  • This is my favorite version of A Christmas Carol. I watched it with my sister who passed away when we were young.

  • oh how sad, what happend? ;(

  • Comment removed

  • Im sorry :(

  • Any one know where I can get a copy of this song

("Oh, What a Merry Christmas Day")? I cannot locate it on Itunes, etc.

  • It is a merry Christmas Disney! A colorful Buena Vista

  • It is a merriness of Christmas. Merry merry Christmas Mickey!

  • classic

  • aaarw like being 8 again

  • feeling christmassy...check out my vid.."The Grinch Who Stole Christmas animation - narrated by Jah Rule"

  • what is the namn off this song?

  • The song is called "Oh, What a Merry Christmas Day" ...

  • Walt Disney was responsible for some great stuff but he was also a greedy man and a fascist.

  • @neodorian Is this true about Walt disney? Do you have any sources for what you say?

  • Does anyone know the name of the song that is playing and where I could find it?

  • According to the credits, it's "Oh What a Merry Christmas Day"

  • Thanks I hope I can find it.

  • I got this moive only in Norwegian :- D

  • this film should be sold on DVD for this Christmas.

  • I think they are re-releasing this on DVD this October.

  • do you know if it'll be sold in all the countrys like america and Australia?

  • ye and in germany ITS A SHAME,

They sell a new Audio sequence, not the one from 1983 and write on the dvd front: "Classic animation collection"

They killed it just like arielle before.

  • I just accidently stumbled on this on the Best Buy site. Its coming to DVD September 29th. So, for those of you who want it in your house as well as watching it on youtube, this comment is for u.

  • THANK YOU!!!

  • There is a quality to Mickey's Christmas Carol that can never be duplicated and will be forever missed. It's what's missing in today's entertainment: heart and family values.

  • well seeing how much "stars" disney made of britney spears, christina agulara, and Lindsay Lohan... you got a good point!

    Wayne Allwine (RIP) :'(

  • In Memory Of: Wayne Allwine (1947-2009) I like him alot as Mickey from the TV shows like Mickey Mouse Works, House of Mouse and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse on Playhouse Disney (which I never saw on disney) and in movies (which he sometimes has a voice over cameo like the 1995 film Disney's A Goofy Movie)
  • @kingofthe90s Don't forget Kingdom Hearts.

  • Sad news: Wayne Allwine, who made his official debut as Mickey Mouse in this special, passed away Monday at the age of 62. The cause of death was listed as complications from diabetes.

Prayers & condolences go out to the family.

  • a disney classic - FACT!

  • This special premiered theatrically with the reissue of The Rescuers. Talk about a dazzling double feature!

  • this song is a call for the tears, and the movie too

  • If I had been related to Clarence Nash, had he been my grandfather or something, I wouldn't be able to watch this without crying.

  • i love this music

  • old school disney at its best - FACT!

  • good song just curious but how many people are singing this song? any guess

  • I still have this on video. It was my 1st ever video way back in 1989! :)

  • Ah this is one of the last true ink and paint cartoons featuring almost all Disney characters in it. It was also here that the ONLY original voice actor for Donald Duck that remained. If you read the book on this story, there is so many details that matches. Such a wonderful work of art.

  • The pistachio part still cracks me up. Probably my most favorite Christmas cartoon, ever? Why don't they show it on TV anymore? It's the best!

  • @CatLizWheel They show it occasionally on ABC Family these days, but yeah I miss it being aired on Christmas Eve, it was an old tradition for My family to watch it on that day during the evening, but an unfortunate thing is the ABC Family airings cut some of this special to save time.

  • @Thenumber1yoshi Unfortunately, I just have VERY basic cable and do not get ABC Family. :( Glad they show it somewhere, though! Oh, I hate it when they cut parts out - especially in little movies like this, where I know exactly what's missing! It definitely puts me in a Christmassy mood when I watch it - glad I have it on VHS, at least!

  • Merry Christmas to all of you.

As a child i captured all the details, little tim death, and how Scrooge changed his perception of life it self at least for a christmas moment.

  • Happy 25th to "Mickey's Christmas Carol" and "A Christmas Story". Two holiday classics that I will always cherish.

  • My parents bought me this VHS for my first Christmas... It's possibly the most nostalgic song in my life. This song = Christmas.

  • I think Scrooge McDuck is great as Embenezer Scrooge. No wonder that use him as the greedy miser because of his name and such.

  • this used to be my fav cartoon when I was a child... Absolutely amazing!

  • "OH, WHAT A MERRY CHRISTMAS DAY"

From the animated film "Mickey's Christmas Carol" (1983)

    (Walt Disney / Carl Stalling)

    merry christmas!!!

  • I jus saw this movie on Toon Disney..my favorite christmas movie...I love it

  • "Oh, what a merry Christmas Day"

  • this is by far my fav interpretation of a christmas carol, ive watched it ever christmas since i was 6 and im 31 now...still brings back memories..

  • This is probably my all time favorite. When I was little, it didn't feel like Christmas until I watched it :)

  • I'm a 30 year old dude and this movie gets me all misty eyed every year. It was nominated for an academy award and deservedly so. Disney aren't doing it like they used to.

  • Don't feel bad my friend. I'm right there with ya. This is a part of our childhood. and it reminds me of a time when Christmas actually felt like Christmas. There was a magic to the holiday season that's no longer there. I don't know if it's because we're adults or it's just a sign of the times. Whatever the reason, I sure miss it. I'd give anything to feel that magic once more. This song makes me cry too. So you're not alone.

  • I read that this cartoon was the last time Clarence Nash did the voice of Donald Duck

  • And that is very true.

  • This would be Ducky Nash's swan song.

  • i love this movie so much, i remember watching it when i was really young :)

  • i gor it on dvd, but its on "snowed in the house of mouse" with this at the end of it. i don't think you can get just the christmas carol on its own?

  • I too bought the DVD for this song, but it is not there :(. If any one knows where to get the song, I would love to know. For now, I will just keep watching on youtube.

  • where can i download this!?! I have been searching forever!

  • the song i mean

  • I have been looking for this movie on dvd to show my children. Can't find it anywhere!

  • Incapable of watching this show without crying, and that says a lot. I'm feel so sry for anyone who hasn't seen this as a child.

  • I love this song. It's actually much more beautiful than most regular Christmas carols.

I've watched this movie every Christmas for about twenty years <3 I still love it.

  • Love this! 5/5!

  • I used to watch this on a yearly basis! Ah to be 5-9 again! Screw you Miley Cyrus, you ruined Disney!

  • Wonderful!!

I have always adored this song!!

    Thank You very much!! :D

  • What a classic, I completely agree with you. I'm not criticizing their current stuff, but I wish it was still like this.

  • Disney doesn't do it like this anymore, if that makes sense. I love this movie and I still do.

  • Agreed on all counts.

  • Thank you, the Pixar movies make up for it allittle bit but not like these.

  • i wich i want a karaoke version to sing this song alone

  • v=OKAms5xr7os

How Dickens came to write A Christmas Carol

  • This was my favorite movie during my child hood. It brings back magical memories. I am trying to find this on DVD, but it is hard to find! The only one closest is a DVD with a mix of other Disney Christmas'.

  • It'll be on ABC Family in December as part of the 25 Days Of Christmas. Or watch it here on youtube.

  • To answer unchris Question. I have a vid of old classic christmas shorts, and donald and his nephews is one of them! sorry but I don't remember the title, but I'll let you know when I find the video. It will take me awhile to find it, its still packed up,but I'll find it!

  • old school disney = the fuckin best - FACT!

  • Question for anyone to answer. Does anyone know what Christmas episode was it where Donald was in a snowball fight with his nephews? (I seem to remember ships being involved or cannons or something)

  • 0:57 John Lasseter! Really moved up the ladder in the last 25 years, didn't he? :)

  • I remember watching one of the Behind The Scenes on one of the Pixar movies and hearing him talking about working on Mickey's Christmas Carol. I believe it was right around the early early stages of Pixar's comings.

  • It couldn't have been a better place for him and Pixar to start. Does he have much to say about the making of it?

  • I watched this with my daughter last night and had this song stuck in my head all day today :P. I really loved this cartoon as a kid and I hope that my daughter will too! I can't wait until this Christmas as we will welcome another daughter into the world to love! :)

  • this song and movie gets 2 me every time, pure genius

  • Yeah it's a true clasic movie -> although it's just a soft mix of the story ;p

I like the horror movie better ;)(of course not a disney movie)

  • this movie...i cry everytime i see it

  • I love this song.....Its remember my family in the fireplace and the whole christmas spirit :P You know ..Tree Balls etc...:P

    MERRY CHRISTMAS!

  • hm..I turned 18 this year, and I remember we had this video. It was an individual video. We lost it eventually. But then, my mother bought us Mickey's Magical Christmas: Snowed in At the House of Mouse, and they showed this on there.

Anyway, this song is so sweet. Christmas is the time of year where we all are supposed to be happy and carefree, spend time with your family and friends, and relax.

  • i love this song!

  • 1:35 name and maker

    i guess

i got this on vhs, (danish version), cant help watching it again

  • magnificent... I have on a video tape, since i was like 6.

  • This shows how much better animation and cartoons was in the 80s compared to today. Todays Cartoons PALE in comparison to this. There are oo many shortcuts and overstylized animation styles today. I miss cartoons like this.

  • Oh, man, so do I!

  • I loved the song so much I bought the video off ebay.

  • Man this song really brings me back to my childhood, its a "must see" every Christmas for me! :*)

  • Beautiful song.

  • best christmas movie ever

  • A MASTERPIECE!

  • i love this music begynt

  • da piccola lo vedevo sempre!!! :) bei ricordi...

  • I love this episode. But I wish it would follow the original Charles Dickens novel.

  • My fave Christmas cartoon! Every Christmas Eve this is my 'Must See' movie. It wouldn't be Christmas without it. And yes, it's on dvd. I FINALLY found it online this year. On the deepdiscount dvd site it's listed for $9.59. It's on a Disney Collection dvd called "Classic Holiday Stories." I'd just post the link, but I don't know if that's allowed here.

  • oh so adorable and sweet

  • can we find this movie on DVD?

  • Dale Baer, credited at 0:42, also did the animation for the 1982 TOEI anime "Aladdin and His Wonderful Lamp" (remember the desert mouse)? ; )
