  • Can someone tell me what is the criteria to have a band in the Hall of Fame? Why GFR do not qualified for that? And what is the reason to be there? just "fame", just "name", to be reconigzed. WELL GRF has all that without been there. I mean GFR without been there or to be, for ME is the same, A GREAT BAND. Thanks Mark, I am learning in my late 40's the music I just to love in my ten's (and still love it). Thanks to Utube I am learning all these song from Mark hinself. Sorry my English.

  • The "In Need" guitar riff by Mark Farner is the one of the best I ever heard in 40 years of rock

  • y eso que era la prueba de sonido....grande Mark Farner los años

    70 no moriran jamas

  • Wow Mark did a great job, he still has that feeling & talent.

  • Good to hear the bass and drums being respectful to Don and Mel's parts. Check out Huffington Post -- How Lame Is The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame.

  • man thats hot!

  • MARKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK

  • Fucking good!

  • Thanks for posting this!! I really enjoyed watching & listening to this tune!! This is one of GFR's greatest tunes!! Mark sounds great and his band is top form!! Really wish GFR would get more respect and recognition!! It's a shame that the greatest band America has ever produced is not in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Something seriously wrong with that!!!

  • Extraordinary front man. The other was Freddy Mercury.

  • @zzzzzzzz594 And don't forget Terry Kath

  • I really like the lyrics to this song. Makes alot of sense!

  • GFR was the best damn band. Mark Farner still sounds great in his late 50`s. Hasn`t lost any vocals at all. GFR made around 14-16 albums in 7 years. Every one of them was a gem.

Screw the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. GFR is too good for them

  • mark farner is the lead singer of all times

  • loved this song and the red album in the 70s , wish I was at this concert.

  • love mark farner

  • Fantastic, sounds and looks like a great show..

  • AWEsome.

I am so thrilled to see the spirit alive and well ! I don't know HOW many times I have played that song in the last thirty years. Saw GFR is Seattle more than once.

  • what a great riff

  • I've never seen a live version of this, thanks for posting it!

It's missing the monstrous overdriven bass that Mel played on the Live Red album though.

  • God, this is so good. Loud and proud. Rock on Mark!

  • Listen to Marks Prophetic words. He wrote this song right out of High School. Listen to the guitar riffs...it doesn't get any better than this. Put it all together and you have Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame Status. What seems to be the problem Jann Wenner of Rolling Stone? This is a TRAVESTY of Rock-n-Roll Justice!

  • Madonna is there and Grand Funk isn't? What the hell is the logic behind that decision?!

  • No matter what anybody says-- Mark!!! Keep Rockin' my bra' Remember me at santa anita race track in Los Angeles Calif..your new band is the Bomb....Bino

  • "Gonna leave whats behind me behind"

    ..great advice!

  • I have a new mission - to see GFR live. Great sounds!

Love the Bass. I'd sort of forgotten this song.

Rock is alive and well. What great guitar!

    Thanks for the post.

  • Looks good and sounds good thanks for posting it!

  • mel where are you??

  • it's not Mel, it's not Grand Funk...

  • Mark Farner is Grand Funk

  • Thank you Mark Farner, for this kick butt song.

  • Hi GFR Friends,

I love this song from the Red Album! Mark is for e one best guiter players in the world. But i realy mis Mel! The bassplayer does his best, but still is not the same, Mel puts more feeling in his bas! Lets not forget Don! Any how, Mark for President!!!

  • Great tune, but without MEl, it just doesn't make it.

  • sencillamente BACAN!!!!

  • Mark isnt so in highlights like led zep or etc but his music is with balls.remember early 70s-GFR?Thank you Mark...superb time with your music...and all girls loved your muscle so we had trained we have muscle llike you:)greetings to all fans of GER Laco from czech republic:-)

  • Grand Funk Railroad was probably the greatest live 70's garage band of all time...Led Zeppelin was not....They were a poor live band that was way off in reproducing their recorded efforts on stage opting for 30 minute guitar and 35 minute drum solos to fill their sets...GFR sold more albums and tickets in the 70's also making them the biggest rock act of that era.....The Mark Don and Mel grouping is sorely missed.

  • @CrashTestChris True and The Led used to Open for G.F.R and other Bands Before The stairway to Heaven , dribble.. Theye were good, But G.F.R. WERE THE FIRST TO SELL OUT HUGE STADIUM shows that were unprecedented .at That Time . Peace .

  • One of GFR's all time great tunes; the guitar solo by Mark is killer and rumor is that Eruption by Eddie van Halen is his tribute to In Need by Mark.

  • As far as I know, Eddie decided he "wanna be" a guitarist the night he saw Grand Funk, especially when Mark Farner did his extraordinary 'In Need' solo.

My hat off to both rockers!

  • They should play this song more live. It's one of my top favorites.

  • Mark Farner can show "all" guitarist how its done this guy is The Master on the AXE !!

  • LIVE ALBUM version of In Need - the definition of rock and roll.

  • Mark farner is probably one of the greatest reasons why I became a musician in the first place! The fact that he is a christian is a bonus!

  • i cant BELIEVE how great is voice sounds!

    This could be 1974!@#^$

    oh my god!!

  • The only time I saw this live was in 1969 at Mt Holly Mi.The Flint Journal said that Grand Funk would perform a new song and it was In Need.Mark's voice is as good as ever.Rock on till ur a Hundred Bro!!!

  • For the first time I meet someone who attended the 1969 Mount Holly Festival.

If you have any more memories about the event (exact date, number of people at the ski lodge / slopes, the specific old Flint Journal, or maybe any WTAC radio airchecks / advertising, or Bob Dell reports about the event) please let me (us) know.

    Keep rockin' Pete.

  • Mark never gets tired! still in quest for 'got this thing on the move' performed by him.

  • Wow - I have been waiting a long time to hear him do this live again. Sounds great. Love that there was no keyboard (as it should be) One of my favorites - Thanks!

  • Cool, Cool stuff! The Red album is so good! But I think Born to Die is there best
