You are right about the fact with the price on xbox compared to a PC from back then at the same price, and xbox hardware have been slightly improved since the first release, but I would say it's time to get better hardware in the 360 or come out with the 720 soon (which I hope they do). I have a 360 now, but it's quite poor (lagging in some games although not in FM4 which is my favorite game on xbox) but when I play GTA 4, it lags alot. Well, it's also 3 yrs old :)

About time for consoles to become updated. The xbox uses hardware literally 6-7 years old. The PS3 got a better GPU a while back, but that is also becoming pretty old these days.

@TheJakeSweede That is pretty bullshit argument. Fact is PC gaming will always be superior even when the next gen consoles are released. Sure the hardware on initial release will be on par with majority (not high end) of PC gamers computers, but that does not mean the games will be. As shown on TotalBiscuit channel, the original Xbox 360/PS3 early on were terrible quality compared to PC, even with similarities in hardware specs. It takes time for developers to adjust to the new consoles.
@TheJakeSweede By the time the next gen console games are coded correctly (which usually takes a year or so) PC gaming will already be ahead. After 2-3 years a next gen console will be outdated because of its average specifications and thus 'graphic tricks' will be used to trick the console into giving better looking visuals. Hell Xbox 360/PS3 are restricted to a crappy 30 FPS to begin with. Comparisons on hardware can be made, but comparing two identical games PC to Console is just laughable.

Guys the FX is fine for the most part in a blind test against a 2700k with the exact same hardware the FX was picked as the best by more users you will be happy with it if you do buy 1. I wouldn't overclock it though the power usages goes up to much for my taste. I guess benchmarks aren't everything.
@nerbne Most games these days are GPU limited, so yes, you will not be able to tell the difference in most games... But if you're just planning to do gaming, a FX 4100 or 2500k is really the most games can use, seeing they only use 2-4 cores.
But if you run some real-world program benchmarks for stuff like rendering etc, basically workstation programs, that is where the 8150 really falls behind the 2600k, due to its per-core inefficiency.

i was fearing this day but it was a long time coming as amd had been on the ropes for years. this is a horrible day for consumers as intel will have free reign over the mid and high end cpu market.
Xbox 720 will have a R HD 6670. Which will be able to run games 1080p @ 30FPS since consoles have no tessellation, anti aliasing, anisoptric filtering, or ambient occlusion.
Also the consoles have standardized hardware and everything is written in low-level machine code, which will make it easier to run demanding titles.
This doesn't happen on PC because PC hardware isn't standardized. But I still prefer PC gaming.

Games don't even run on HD. A fair test would be to set resolutions on both systems to 640x480, and graphics settings to medium.

@TheJakeSweede That is pretty bullshit argument. Fact is PC gaming will always be superior even when the next gen consoles are released. Sure the hardware on initial release will be on par with majority (not high end) of PC gamers computers, but that does not mean the games will be. As shown on TotalBiscuit channel, the original Xbox 360/PS3 early on were terrible quality compared to PC, even with similarities in hardware specs. It takes time for developers to adjust to the new consoles.

@TheJakeSweede By the time the next gen console games are coded correctly (which usually takes a year or so) PC gaming will already be ahead. After 2-3 years a next gen console will be outdated because of its average specifications and thus 'graphic tricks' will be used to trick the console into giving better looking visuals. Hell Xbox 360/PS3 are restricted to a crappy 30 FPS to begin with. Comparisons on hardware can be made, but comparing two identical games PC to Console is just laughable.

Guys the FX is fine for the most part in a blind test against a 2700k with the exact same hardware the FX was picked as the best by more users you will be happy with it if you do buy 1. I wouldn't overclock it though the power usages goes up to much for my taste. I guess benchmarks aren't everything.

@nerbne Most games these days are GPU limited, so yes, you will not be able to tell the difference in most games... But if you're just planning to do gaming, a FX 4100 or 2500k is really the most games can use, seeing they only use 2-4 cores.
But if you run some real-world program benchmarks for stuff like rendering etc, basically workstation programs, that is where the 8150 really falls behind the 2600k, due to its per-core inefficiency.

@QBpcguy no, amd will make desktop cpus. they focused on the server side for a bit, got the sales up their, now they aprently are switching ot laptops. piledriver is a revision of faildozer...that works this time, and its for servers, desktops, and loptosp in APU (intergrated grafx card inside the CPU chip) and jsut a normal CPU chip.

Xbox 720 will have a R HD 6670. Which will be able to run games 1080p @ 30FPS since consoles have no tessellation, anti aliasing, anisoptric filtering, or ambient occlusion.
Also the consoles have standardized hardware and everything is written in low-level machine code, which will make it easier to run demanding titles.
This doesn't happen on PC because PC hardware isn't standardized. But I still prefer PC gaming.
