  • I sooooo hate this movie!

Animation and action is incredible as usual, but the story is so incredibly stupid. It just contradicts so much that is important in the manga, the movies, and the series.

Yes, it looks really really good, but it's really a terrible way to continue the franchise. It shouldn't have been made, and I wished I'd never seen it.

  • i just loved this! but since i do not speak nihonggo, i wasn't able to understand (since it wasn't subbed) the last part after motoko told batou that the net was "indeed wast and infinite." before the credits... (anyway) i just loved the ghost in the shell!

  • MOTOKO I LOVE U <3

  • Innocence is my favoirte of all. The original film plot is just amazing.

  • u guys are noobs...

  • that is two different worlds its like paralelworlds they dont belong together

  • Can someone help me to understand the sequence of all the story in the Ghost in the shell

for me that make sence is

    GIS - Stand alone complex

    GIS - 2nd GIG

    GIS - Solid state

    but how about the movie

Ghost in the shell the movie

Ghost in the shell the movie - Innocence

Where this movie fit into the beginning?

    can someone tell me?.

  • The movies doesn't fit anywhere, it's an alternate universe

  • @yapisigma If u where 2 think about it carfully and not b stupid u'd find that it is all the one universe in a single time frame *spoiler* at the end of the first season motoko is floating around the net in cyber space and still is in cyber space during innocence "the second movie" after that she has a new prostetic bod "same model" in

2nd GIG *end spoiler* so realy its all the same universe just need 2 look at it harder :D

  • I would suggest not to try if you want an overall GIS story read the original mangas!!! \\[^.^]//

  • @zathana wiki pedia

  • downloaded, assimilated, thanx

  • name of the song please

  • ghost in shell was a game aswel

  • It was actually a manga release back in 1989 :P

  • I love that movie!! :D

  • i love ghost in the shell. Its not like the anime or manga shows where they got deamons and stuff. it goes to terrorists(freedom fighters..dont aask i got history) and refugees and other normal crimes stuff. which is awesome to me!

  • is Ghost in the Shell only movie or there are some episodes for it?

  • there are episodes

  • Do you know how many?

  • Alright Mr Speedy Gonzales, hgere we go [chrnologically]: [1995] Ghost in the Shell I (Movie) -> [2004] Ghost in the Shell II - Innocence (Movie) | [2002] GitS: Stand Alone Complex (TV 26 eps) -> [2003] GitS: Stand Alone Complex - The Laughin Man (special OVA) -> [2004] GitS: Stand Alone Complex - 2nd GIG (TV 26 eps) -> [2005] GitS: Stand Alone Complex - Individual Eleven (special OVA) -> [2005] GitS: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society (Movie). Please watch in this order!

  • omg lol i cant belive u just asked that.

  • It's just Wonderful,I Love It!!Origa is great in the backgroung and brings more pleasure while watching!!!

  • hey,u should put the whole movie on youtube if u have it...

  • AGREED!

  • Major Kusanagi is my fave character in Anime..

  • can someone explain what order to watch these in? I've just got the two movies and both series from amazon and they aren't numbered properly. thanks in advance

  • i'd say watch the first ghost in the shell, from '95, followed by innocence. then delve into ghost in the shell stand alone complex and after wards stand alone complex 2nd gig followed by solid state society. i hope that made sense.

    enjoy

  • thanks mate, I'll give that a biral.

  • in terms of story watch Ghost in the Shell SAC, then 2nd Gig, followed by the '95 movie, then Innocence, and last Solid State Society

  • I watched. Very good Movie, and super op.

  • AWSOME BUT I DID NOT UNDERSTAND IT!

  • the 1st one was amazing!

  • they missed out innocence! *Wha!*

  • Love the Ghost in the Shell series.

  • Is this movie after or before 2nd GIG?

  • it isn't for anyone, great story but too damn hard to follow to really achieve all the potential it had.

  • guau, otra peli de ghost in the shell.esto promete.quiero verla ya

  • childrens TV show?!? in the first 10 min of the movie a guy puts a gun to his head and spacles the wall with grey matter, no way is this for kids!

  • animated doesnt automaticaly mean for children.maybe in US,but not in Japan.

  • yes i know, and i agree it dosn't automaticly mean for children, in the US or anywhere else. in fact that was the point i was trying to make lol, this post was suposed to be a reply to AlexFictionFriction, who posted a few comments further down, i just hit the wrong button and started a comment by mistake

  • sweet when is it coming to america

  • Been a fansub for awhile now ;) Google and enjoy!

  • back in 1995 when the first gts movie came out the drawings were SO MUCH better, now the days everything is been made with computer animation to keep the budget low.

  • Clueless comemnt detected! They use CGI for cars etc.. due to the fact that to animate a smooth car is impossible.. they will always look fake and lack realism..

Think abou it.. why dont they make all the characters CGI 2? there is method to the madness my friend!

  • yeah yeah if you like it

  • like? what smooth cars? lol?

  • looks like a childerens tv show

  • I don't mean to harp on you but why do you say that? Just because its a cartoon doesn't mean its a kids show. I mean take a look at Elfen Lied. That is anything but a kid's show.

  • because it appears like that and the general consensus is to accosiate cartoons with childeren. Mind you can get 'Naru'tards and other chilish adults who like it.

  • Go watch pokemon, Ghost in the shell is a huge root of the tree of anime history :)

  • it's a 15, the origainal cult film featured a lot of nudity and voilence, such as peeps heads exploding and the major pulling her limbs off.

  • Isn't the anime style all the same?

I mean, if you look at the concepts of anime drawings, it's all the same, right?

Sure it has its diffrances here and there, but nothing too significant to easily point out of the rest.

I don't know... its kinda... the same ol same ol.

  • NO :- >

  • nope anime style drawings tend to be very significantly diffrent, its the same category but there very very diffrent.

  • But what changes? (besides the story line of course!)

    I'm just courious to know.

It's because I've seen very little anime, but from what I've seen, they all look kinda the same.

You know, the big eyes, small pointy nose, stuff like that.

    Just wondering. :)

  • drawing styles can vary, espeacially since not all anime's have big eyes, pointed noises, or V shaped heads. One short example would be Shojo and realistic anime. Shojo is more large eyes and fantasy like, while realistic is a bit like Ghost in the shell where they look like actual people, but still have a anime look.

  • Ah, I see!

Thank you for the intel, Miyavekuu!

Much appriciated, and that goes for 5ilver42, too!

  • no prob ^.^

as for the remark about the cartoon show for kids I'm not sure who said that but, I agree with 5ilver42 just because its a cartoon doesnt mean its for kids thats the deffinate truth. Hentai is cartoon does that mean its for kids? I didnt think so

  • Well Hentai is a completely different story than Anime and in my opinion is more hilarious than anything else... Mostly because its so unreasonable and fake... but your right - definitely not for kids...

  • Is it just me or does alot of Hentai center around the bondage and rape theme? When I went to Japan, a friend of mine bought a manga featuring the notorious "tentacle porn" Called war of pleasure. It was so wierd. We couldn't stop laughing.

  • Well, I myself can't name any changes. But Gunslinger Girl would be a good one for me to point about differences.

The drawning and animation styles of the two seasons are completely different. The second season is more 'loosely' drawn the the eyes on the girls are about twice as big.

Though when you get down to it. ANY chartoon will still be a cartoon. (has anyone ever thought about the fact that the reason they may have pointy eyes is because they are Japanese?)

  • Remember, from their perspective, western style animation probably appears pretty similar too :P

But check out 'ghost in the shell' and 'One Piece', differences are clear there.

  • Oh yeah! Know that I look at it, they are significantly diffrent!

Thanks for pointing that out for me! :D

  • ok its true that the animation has changed over the years but i think it looks beater now but thats just me....but the first movie from 1995 was good to not to lie it was beater.

  • with out Ghost in the Shell we woulden't have matrix or animatrix. we own alot to Ghost in the Shell i hope they made ALOT OF money of Ghost in the Shell. like the matrix made.

  • I actually watched a very interesting documentary on anime a while back. Ghost in the Shell inspired the Watchowski Brothers to make "The matrix" "The Matrix" made people want more of the same action. The people's want of more action is what got Americans t.v. producers to bring over Bleach, DBZ, and Naruto. Therefore, even though we watched anime back in the 50's, "Ghost in the Shell" created the anime craze in U.S.A!

  • Yeah i saw the same documentary on stars, and old people tell robotech started the anime craze in the US.

  • yup, I agree, it was robotech along with Akira, you have to remember that anime came to latin america before the United States, proof of it is that Dragon Ball (previous to DBZ) aired its first episode in 1994.

  • yeah, that was the original 2 movies that inspired them, way back in the 90's

  • yeah. It's sort of like how LittleKuriboh created the original abridged series, which got lots of other people to create abridged series, two of which were Avatar (GanXingBa) and Naruto (MasakoX and Vegeta3986), which inspired me to turn my old SuperJames comic books into my new Youtube series SuperJames. So, in effect, LittleKuriboh created SuperJames (The Youtube series, I created SuperJames and his adventures even before discovering Youtube.)

  • non shtop action shuspense

  • is there an English version of tis??

  • yeah there is

  • For some reason I couldn't stand watching this movie unlike the anime series and previous movies which have superb directing and style. This one seems to have been rushed and is very irritating to watch, the persona's of the characters aren't the same either.

  • Reminds me of the cowboy bebop movie, lol

  • ..how dramatic ....

  • If you're really fascinated by the Ghost in the Shell movies/shows then I highly suggest you look into the novels by Fujisaku, one of the lead producers of the televesion series. They really bring a lot more depth to the world by letting you get more into the mind of the main character (major), exploring her thoughts/feelings/impressions and even history.

On another note, Ghost in the Shell Innocence is a really amazing movie. Its philosophical depth is almost unheard of in other movies..

  • awsum series! cheers for the preview

  • this is the anime that started it all for me back in 96 and after all these years and all the different animes, this one is still my favorite, even though its not for everyone, its one that opens your mind as well as pleasing to the senses, plus i also hope the world is like that in the future with all the cyberization

  • OMG, watched the 1st and 2nd season and i can't wait for the 3rd to come out!

  • its so complex. i cant even begin to explain. that's probably why you don't like anime.

  • anime hates you!!! lol

    anime + manga rules!

  • yep, people who dont understand ghost in the shell are classed as the dumb class now, didnt you hear?

I love Ghost in the shell! haven't seen this one yet but the ones i have seen are so amazing

  • In soviet russia anime hates you!

  • wow i played the game of this for the ps1 and the psp both great games great movie as well

  • I can not translate a song. sound quality is too poor. Main message is as I hear "today I fly away, I regret nothing"

  • Please can someone tell me what the name of this song is called?

  • It's called "Player", by Yoko Kanno I think, I have it either way, very good song.

  • Thank you very much! ^^

  • no it`s in russian and sang by russian singer... will look for some info...

  • @.@ its not?? oh. Okay thanks :)

  • So here it is:

    "inner universe" − 4:55

    (opening theme song)

    Vocals: Origa and Benedict Delmaestro

    Lyrics: Origa, Shanti Snyder

vocal origa also known as Ol'ga Vitalevna Yakovleva (Яковлева Ольга Витальевна

Yoko Kanno is a composer, arranger and*mu*ician

  • as much I know there are different versions of that song...

  • I may may by mestaken by songs title... but another info is correct

  • Ahh. okay, Thanks! :)

  • No the songs title is not "Inner Universe" I have the OSTs for the first season and 2nd GiG both, and "Inner Universe" is the opener for 1st season, "Rise" is the opener for 2nd GiG, but it IS obviously an Origa song composed by Yoko Kanno, sounds awesome.

  • does anybody know if theres going to be a new season of ghost in the shell s.a.c?

  • I heard via wikipedia there making a live film, but you can't trust these things, and I'd prefer another season.

  • hi whats up! cool movie, do some of you know if there is gonna be another sequel or a 3rd gig of GITS?

  • wrong, it' only about 50% in russian. i am russian, yet half of what she sings seems like gibberish to me.

  • I think it is a combination, much like the introduction song in the series. It sounds like some russian, some english, some japanese.

  • The other half might be Japanese.

  • I'm Japanese.

This song does not contain Japanese at all.

  • Aha, I see.

  • The song is in russian

  • Ive alwyas thought the animation was just incredible for ghost in the shell.

  • it's hypothesis

  • It is obvious that it is a mistake I made due to the rush I made writing. But I think that doesn't matter in this case.

  • What? 2nd gig was in 04? Holy crap. Yeah, I haven't seen the Uchikomas yet. I hated the Tachikomas voices. =_=

  • I used to hate them, you have to understand why do they have that voices, they're comic characters with ifantile AI's that don't understand some concepts like death, work, religion... it can be funny to hear the hipthesis that they make about world's phenomena.

  • actually this is set in 2034, and even conservative estimates say that that level of technology will be easily possible.

Personally i like GITS for all the cool concepts it brings, the plot lines are just a method to present the concepts... at least to me

  • I actually like the Tachikomas. After Motoko Kusanagi, they're my absolute favorite. Sure, their constant rambling will, on occasion, leave me brain dead... But they still interest me nonetheless.

  • they provide an interesting view on life, thats for sure. this is one of the main reason i like GITS, it really makes you think. (that, and motoko is SUPER hot!)

  • So now they use the Uchikomas, no more sweet cute little Tachikomas, I wonder what it will be like now

  • ha ha ha ha .....naruto.... for children...

  • They went heavy on the Nissan product placement

  • カタカナって外人から見ると格好良いよなたぶん。

  • I believe the Sci-Fi channel is airing it on June 11th at 11 p.m EST in the US

  • has it been released????

  • The theme song (Player by Origa) and other great songs are on the soundtrack.

  • one i like Episode 09 C: The Man Who Lurks in the Darkness of the Net; CHAT! CHAT! CHAT!

  • i've seen it and loved it, but that's mainly cuz all GITS series and the other movie 95 fuckin kick ass

  • Guys... why don't you just download the SAC episodes from eMule for example. I did. You can get eveything there. Worth material. Now Im buying it from amazon. But if it's not available in your country, download it and if you lke it, BUY IT!

  • When did all this happen? I'm a fan in Australia and I've never head of solid state society.

  • im in the US and ive didnt hear of it too

  • I'm in the U.S. I know it exits but, I don't think I've seen it. There is SAC though.

  • its prob only in japan

it wont come here for about 4 or so years if our luck holds out

  • Sowed State Sosiety for the win. This is going to be awesome.

  • Okay,so if I understand these comments correctly, this did not come out in the US, however it came out in Japan? If that's true, is it possible to find a subbed torrrent?

  • its coming to the US this summer. im pretty sure youtube would delete the movie if it got posted.

  • Youtube would, other sources wouldn't ;)

  • got tat rite. youtube is anal when it comes to anime

  • What is the song that plays during this trailer? I'd like to know. I've always been a fan of Japanese music.

  • if its anything like the last two theme songs they are sung in Russian

  • It is in russian, i have the soundtrack (but not the movie yet)

    artist:

    origa with Heartsdale

    Title: Player

  • November 22nd is the OST drop date, atleast thats what I heard, and the dvd is the 26th? Anyway, the OST should have some songs from 2nd gig that we didnt get to hear, such as the one from episode 14, poker face, the one song that comes on when saito is starting the story. Anyway, lets pray that [LMF] group will sub the dvd release.

  • I want a full version of that song too! It pwns!

  • Okay, I admit I've only seen the beginning of SAC...but was Togusa shown using an automatic handgun?

Did I miss something? What made him switch from his revolver? That thing is sweet.

  • Dont Worry He Still has his revolver....

  • You'll notice that one of the subtile differences of the original GitS Universe and the SAC Universe is that Motoko encourages Tougasa to go in a different direction. She doesn't seem to disaprove of the Revolver, & tells Tougasa he should consider a Prostetic Body (as opposed to the original movie).

Little things like that promt characters to spin off in different directions. But he still prefers the reliability of the Revolver, and it becomes a bigger focus in of of the 2nd Gig eps.

  • oh, dont worry, im sure he'd never get rid of his "trusty Octaver" even though Motoko and Batou always pitch him shit about it..

  • i watched the movie already

it was pretty good..whats goin on with batou and motoko?

pretty good..i dont undertsand why they spent $3mil US it just felt like a long 2nd gig episode

  • Oooooh yes! I'm so stoked for this! I love GITS:SAC

  • All I can say is that I've been waiting quite impatiently for this season to come out. It looks so damn good, just like SAC and 2nd GIG.

  • its not a season its a movie, 3rd gig will come out later and be the last.

  • im really excited!! but will it be the same without the tachikomas? they were my favorite... is lm fansubs going to dub SSS?

  • The tachikomas saved all of their memories to the net before they hit the nuke. They'll probably be resurrected in some way.

  • AFAIK they have the Uchikomas from the end of the final episode of 2nd GIG to replace the Tachikomas. Whether or not they'll have any remnants of the Tachikomas' personalities is yet to be seen though.

  • tachikomas set off a nuke wow

    and they seemed so nice

  • this is awesome! im having a hard time finding the song though...

  • I can't remember where I read it buta few months Ago I read that the team of Section Nine had expanded to 25 or something. Or Forty I can't remember... But this was during the Speculation times so the Story and bases Could of changed.

And let's see gHow the Uchikomas Die :3

  • This looks really good. Love the song too, Yoko Kanno is brilliant! I really can't wait to see this movie. November can't come soon enough xD

  • Yup, the song is 'Player' by Origa. But I've had luck in finding it since Solid State Society came out not too long ago. Any news on it being dubbed?

  • its great that there's a third session can't wait till it comes out

  • its a movie not a season...

  • I'm pretty sure the song is "player" by origa but I can't find it anywhere

  • Ghost in the Shell: S.A.C. Solid State Society

Available in U.S. & Europe on DVD in 2007

  • wowowowow.... that's a pretty long time to wait

  • hey i'm waiting for the Live action Battle Angel ALita Or Aka Gunnm Movie to come out in 2009 ~_~ This wait is nothing...

  • holy holy holy holy crap

  • I saw that Yoko Kanno is doing the music!YAY

  • yeahm Yoko Kanno is SOOO talented~

  • yay \(^o^)/

there's gonna be a third season!!!!!!!

  • no there isn't, at least I don think so. After this movie GITS is ending T_T

  • oh, yeah... it's a movie, wish it was a series though

  • The movie is the 3rd gig. But it's not a series. Are you sure this is the movie that ends it all? I REALLY REALLY hope this isn't the end ;_;

  • i don't know the song but i know the singer its Origa when i find the name of the song i'll post it here

  • Seems really intresting. Anyone seem to know what the name of that song is? I'd really like to know.

  • no not really. It might come out on an OST someday. But in my random guess, on 2:19 of the trailer there's a musical symbol near the bottom right corner. It says Player and some japanese symbols. The name could be player ^_^; (yeah i know, kind of a wierd guess)

  • OMG! i was right :D

  • SUGOOIIIIIIIII!!!!!!!!!!!

  • i cant wait!!!!! omg im too excited because this is like my favorite show ever! and i watch it ever time it comes on lol

    looks really good

  • Do you know who is going to place the movie on youtube? Someone needs to!! Some of us don't have cable! ><

  • Awesome... I can't wait to see this.
