no, this "sport" as some would call it, originated in the army more than 8 years ago, they called it "milsim". they used to it to reduce a soldiers fear of shooting another human being, cus they found out that switching square targets with human shaped targets didnt help, so they tried milsim which helped greatly to conqour the fear of killing another human. and well then about 3 years ago they introduced video games into training against fears which also helped emensly.
yea i know, i still think the whole idea of airsoft for training was a way better idea, cus ure actually shooting at real people not fake video programed targets. o well it seems to work just fine, so why bother
No it is not, nearly in every country you must be 18 to buy an airsoft gun and in my opinion when everybody are at least 18 its more fun cause everybody is there playing with 110%, gear and everything.

Airsoft has never been created for training, but for the japanese to have "guns" (their laws prohibit them) more than twenty years ago.
