  • So, the big question we are left with is: since this video was spose to be about making a SCARF, is she saying that you can do an entire scarf using JUST this one stitch? Because i started one using this stitch alone and the "scarf" so far is very stiff using this stitch, not flexible.

  • I could do without all the Obarfa ads at the beginning of all of her videos...PUKE.

  • which stich the one on top or the one on bottom do you put the hook through?

  • Im just startin

  • lol my nae is elissa too but i spell it alyssa

  • It took 3 hours of raging, but I finally got it down. Thanks.

  • I asked my grama to teach me to crochet and it was definitely tricky at first. I decided I would make a scarf and so far I'm about 5 rows in and my scarf is about 5 feet or so long. It is taking so long! I didn't know what I was getting myself into.. I'm making it for my boyfriend, hopefully he will like it and it will all be worth it.. Good luck to all of you out there that are just starting!

  • For some reason, no matter how hard i try, i just cant do single crochet. it ends up getting wrapped around my hook so tight i cant do anything with it. ive watched so many different videos on how to do it, but i still cant :/

  • AMAZINGLY HELPFUL! i cant tell you how many times ive tried to start the first row and failed til i saw ths..thanks a bunch! :)

  • oh!!!! I forgot what crochet was, but now I remember. My nan forced me to learn this is year 1....

  • @dark3nangel Yeah i know, right?

  • @dark3nangel Yeah i know, right?

  • yeah going super fast totally helps

  • I have crocheted many times before and have made blankets and scarves, but any time I want to make something new I need to be reminded of how to do it.

  • I looked this up to see why my scarves are all uneven...just realized I've been doing it wrong for years. So many profanities I want to use...

  • Thank you!!! This was so much easier than I thought it would be. :)

  • Thank you, :D

  • my grandma does it different and with 2 hooks

  • @mobradovic00 that's knitting.

  • @ysmn68 no it isnt :P two HOOKS

And it's lik with afghan hooks and i tnk turkish method.

    She told me

  • @mobradovic00 lol fiiine. i'd call turkish crochet "knitting" haha

  • i KINDA get what to do

  • I've been able to figure out that far. It's the third row that throws me off. How come tutorials never go past the second row?

  • Cant tell what you doing yarn is too furry

  • And then? There tutorials are really not very good.

  • what do i do when i am done with that? do i reapeeat? help please

  • don't be discourage guys...it is actually very easy...when you done your first row, at the end, chain 1, turn your work around...and do the same thing...except this time , the place in which you go through consist of two string...just go to teresa art of craft to learn....it's easier to comprehend

  • What do you do after the first row? Is it all single stitch? How many rows do you make? How long of a scarf does this make. Where can I find the how to finish it??

  • she f***** sucks at explaining and showing i didnt know half the s*** she was doing

  • this helped a lot. i'm a visual learner and not very good at word directions. thankss

  • that was absolutely no help....but thanks for trying? im reALLY LOSTTT.

  • i am soooooo confused!!!!!

  • Very helpful thanks for posting. What size needle are you using?

  • what size needle are u using?

  • Thank you so much for this video! I just started doing crochet and I just needed to know how to do more than one row. Thank you again! :)

  • I'm super lost

  • Thank you! ♥

  • thank you so much! im trying to do a scarf for my boyfriend for christmas your a lifee saver!!<3 :D

  • jap great explanation and nothing to see with the fuzzyness of the yarn -.-

  • What? I don't get this... when I do it it just looks like a whole ball of yarn...

someone know an easier way to explain this? Help! =(

  • Ah now i get why its called ''single crochet'' thanx :-D

  • what do you do with the tail from the slip knot?

  • @texasangel01 I saw on one tutarial that you lay the tail on the row, and while you are putting the needle through the loop, you are also stitching over the tail covering it with a whole other row, I tried it and it works really really well =) Sorry if I explained it badly though.

  • @shelshi1991 you mean put the tail on the starting chain?

  • @texasangel01 don't be an asshole.

  • @1973jcubed I'm sorry for being one. I didn't mean it. but now I figured it out :D

  • its so easy and fun

  • My ends get uneven

  • um so after your done with the first row do you repeat?!?

  • Am I the only one who see word covering the entire screen? How to you remove the text? It screws everything up.

  • I can't get the closed captioning off the page and it's impossible to see!

  • much easier than reading the books....thanks a lot!

  • ... Icant do the 1st stitch...

  • Great video thanks. Easier than the books I have!

  • ahhh to manyy loooppdiee loopss :( mine looks like a big ol knot :(:(

  • This helped me so much! Thanks!

  • for anyone who does not know:once you finish a row,you make 1 chain,flip over and do again.lol i knew since i was 8.and im 11 now.

  • I somehow ended up making a circle.. :/

  • Wat do i do after first row?????

  • ITZ SO EASY

  • @GoldenSerena not to some people...

  • omg thank you!!! I've been trying to make a scarf and all my trys were all total failures until i decided to search how to!!! thx!

  • this is super hard

  • @lolomg27 it really isn't. i've only been doing this stitch for half a day and i can do it pretty fast.

  • @lolomg27 it is when you first learn! But once you have the hang of it, it wont be so hard!

    Trust me!

  • Ok, so I started doing this on my own figuring I'd remember from 20 years ago and ended up making a basket! lol

Now that she has explained it, I am starting a scarf! Yay, Thank You!!! I'm excited!

  • I think I've been doing this wrong. From what I'm watching here though, it looks like you're including ONE of the top stitches and the bottom stitch. Then pulling the yarn through those two, wrap the hook again, then pull it though the last loop. Is this how you're doing it?!

Also, how would I stop a double crochet row and start a single? The way i was doing it worked, but I think it was incorrect.

    THANKS IN ADVANCE!

  • i no the pattern its 1,1..... 2,2......... <3333

  • I've been bet by a girl friend of mine that i could never crochet a scarf. now thanks to you my manliness has gone down several steps but a win is a win. Thanks for the tutorial =D

  • is a chain stich a ingle stihc

  • omg!!!!! tht is so much easier than all the othe videos i watched tht made so much sence with doing the other line thnx soo much :)

  • 2 me it's eaz

  • This seems pretty simple. I still prefer knitting though.

  • For the confused of us...

I"m a beginner, and have used other videos on the web and YT to get started. Since I already know this stitch, it made sense. However, the hands in this one obscure the action very badly and the focus isn't great (and needs more close-ups), so it's not the best as a demo. Oral instructions here are pretty good though. If it could be re-shot it could be perfect.

  • wait where is the loop at 00:37 ??? i am very very confuzed!

  • YAY i learned this in girl scouts tonight! its so easy when you do it like 20 times o.o its fun!!!!!

  • ...... huh?? I DONT UNDERSTAND!!

  • man, im still lost O.o

  • I understand how to do the chain stitch and single stitch but I'm lost from there how would I continue to make a new row.

I'm totally lost any help would be great

  • I believe you would flip the row to where your needle is on your right, then start a new row of single crochet stitches. Continue until you reach the end of the row, flip, and start again. Keep going until you reach the length you want your scarf to be. There are probably other vidoes that give you a complete demonstration. Good luck!

  • Actually, after the row, you'd turn, chain one, then do a single crochet through the whole row. You need to add the extra stitch, or you'll slowly decrease with every row, and end up with a really big triangle. o:

  • i actually ended up with a triangle lol i was so confused. thanks!

  • same here like how do u make the third row? hehe

  • to start a new row i believe at the end of the row you just finish you put your hook in the second chain from where the hook is, then you continue to do single crochet..and at the end of each row flip to the opposite side of what you just finished and like she said you'll be going in a zig zag . im not sure if i left any details out, but i hope i didnt.

  • Oooohhhhh. Okay. Thank you so much. I was wondering how you would make something like this crocheting. I had only seen people make the chain stitch, now I understand. Thanks.

  • Thanks a lot! I didn't know how to crochet until I saw this video. XD

  • Elissa:

How long do you make your scarfs? I usually only use the basic double stitch. I can't do any of the others. Do you have tutorials

  • When you do the initiate chain, let it hang off of your neck (each end falls over your chest). As a general rule, I stop the initial chain when both ends of the scarf reach the top of my hips or just below the opening of the front pockets of my jeans. Then, I crochet from there.

  • this video is very helpful but when ur done with the first row do u keep doing the single stitch for the second row and on?

  • you can

  • Thank you so much! This video was very helpful! -Holly

  • i was wondering if you are doing it correctly, how long will it take for a pattern to emerge. How many rows will it take to make a scarf? it would be very helpful. thanks for the video, it is a great help.

  • OMG this is the vid crochet vid on here that goes slowly it helped me so much gurl u rock

  • so, while she was putting the stick in each hole, did she skip a hole and then put it in the other one? it looked like she kept skipping one...

  • Awesome! thanks a lot!

  • hey!!!

whr is da 2nd row vdo???

i mean further wat to do

  • after that u make a single stich and ur at the end make a single stich so it would be like adding another link on if u need any help i can make a video btw i cant belive im 14 and i do this lol

  • omg how many do u do first

  • did you skip a loop or somthing?

  • yes, when you get the the end of your chain, you turn around and skip the first loop and then from there you do every other loop. :)

    ---Addie

  • Thanks for this, you make it look easy :) I need to know how to start from the VERY beginning, like the very first step! If you or anyone can help out with this it would be great.

  • i dont knoe if mine is right but THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH very welll explaining even thought im bad at it i know with this video i can make a scarft and maybe can u show another video on how to crochet a small bag or something cuz this is very well explained

  • thank you very much! after watchin tons of videos i finally came across yours, and finally i got it!

  • im sooo confused and i suck at this mine looks like a bunch of knots!!!

  • Can u show me the second row please

  • wHAT HOLE DO U PUT IT THROUGH!?

  • how long will it take to do do it

  • for me, it takes (if i add up all the time into one) about 2 hours. because i crochet slow O_O and i like my scarves long

  • I really like her videos. I would like to find only her videos.

  • thxs so helpful

  • she is very good at what she does.

she explained it the best out of all the videos i've seen

  • did she skip a loop and do the next one?

  • @lilswtangel92 i think she did but i own a scarf ware that does happen and @ leat u actually learn something!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @lilswtangel92 I just started crocheting but I do that often and it actually makes it larger... I am not an expert tough so...

  • thank you! i have fashions class and were working on this ive asked the person sitting next to me, the person sitting across from me, ive asked a hell of a lot of people some of them told me how but i didnt get it, and some of them told me they paid their friend to do it for them but this really helped me out =]

  • WOOOOO IT MADE SENSE

  • she moves way too fast, and the quality of the video is too poor to see exactly what she is doing.

If anyone knows of another video that does this exactly.. but better.. please let me know.. I'm stuck!!!

  • This is THE most helpful video I have seen on here. Thank you so much!

  • is it the width of scarf? and then what?

  • Awesome video, I used to make blankets with the circles and now that I have seen this video, I can move on and feel confident in doing that stitch. Thank you:)

  • This was *very* helpful. I've seen 50 videos on how to make the foundation chain, but this was the first I could find on how to start on the next row.. thank you! It made perfect sense!

  • This is the video that helped me! I was sooo lost before, and you can learn to make a chain on another vid. thats not the purpose of this one. I found this very helpful!

  • If you want to teach beginners you should: a.) use a basic worsted yarn without all that fuzz, b.) slow down!! You are going way too fast for a beginner, c.) mount the video recorder on a tripod and crochet so the work is facing you square, d.) Try to smile and have fun with this, lady.. You're too young to be worrying about wrinkles....

  • Thank you .. Finally, I get it. Just next time keep going slowly for those of us who need to see it over and over and over! Nice a slowly. thank you , By Gorge I think i've got it!

  • i'm confused

  • now THIS is the kind of video i like, im a beginner. thank you!!

  • And how exactly do you do a chain stitch?!?! dddduuuuurrrrrr!!!!

  • CONFUSING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank you!

  • I cant get the 3rd part of it =[

  • thanks...

  • now i know how to crochet a scarf because of this video! thanks!
