Dang, it's impossible for me to pick a favorite out of certain Zelda games lol. It's like, 1. SS, TP, WW, MC. The zelda franchise being my favorite game series, whenever I play one I love it the most. Something about Minish Cap is especially charming <3 The Minish are my favorite race in the Zelda series.

I have another theory why it was removed: It's supposed to be a prequel to OoT. Saria did not exist yet - and so Saria's Song is not "able" to exist, logically.

My guess the reason this was removed was because the Lost Woods like area in this game which was a maze that you had to navigate using signs was too creepy having decaying trees and Ghinis (ghosts) everywhere and having a happy tune playing in a dead forest would be a massive contradiction in atmosphere.

@TheskillfulCommander no no, what happened was that Koji Kondo entrusted this track to a messenger that would deliver it so it could be used, but the messenger (seeing as he had no fairy) got lost in the Lost Woods. Years later, Link kills the messenger (now a stalfos), and finds this track still in its inventory.

@lollipop5871 U should try the Oracle games. They came out in '01, but they have more depth and challenge then either Minish Cap or 4 swords. They're Game boy color games but they were also ported over to Gameboy Advance. Minish Cap is still great (especially in terms of atmosphere, graphics, and music) but it's pretty short.

elves have never had anything to do with zelda. they're a fictional race called the Hylains. Hylians are just humans but with long ears so they can hear the goddesses and they have the ability to pray to them (use magic). however when they stop believing they become plain old humans (like what happened to most in wind waker). Thats all canon from the creators.. anything with elves is fanfic :P
