Buddy Holly had it right when he talked about the 'day that the Music died.' I keep trying to figure out what year the Music died in my life. One day, I was simply enjoying this Music in the background while riding bikes with Paul, Liz, Tony and others in our Subdivision, interrupted only by my Mom's call to us to get some home baked cookies. From that to days of constant Acid Reflux; how did I come so far and come up so short?
This sounds like the original to me. Either way, I think I like this version the best. They have a great sound on this song. Crisp. Clear. Just the right pitch!
this is White Plains not Edison Lighthouse, EL did not record this although the lead singer of both bands was Tony Burrows. EL were really just a recording studio band.
I think that White Plains did the original, although Tony Burrows was the lead singer. Anyway, great, just great.... Greetings from Brasschaat Flanders.
There is so much connection between White Plains and Edison Lighthouse and many other studio bands that it is really hard to keep track of them. With members going back and fourth and here and there and Tony Burrows singing for just about everybody they should just make a Tony Burrows greatest hits album. I would buy it, he's had a lot of great songs with many different bands.
@Mariorox10 Edison lighthouse didn't break up after love grows, they recorded "She works in a Woman's way" appearing on the Mamma Cass show, they also recorded "Lonely Summer" & helped write "Blame it on the pony express"
Edison Lighthouse was a studio-only assemblage that served as a vehicle for session vocalist Tony Burrows and songwriter/producers Tony Macaulay and Barry Mason. Members of the group Greenfield Hammer were later brought in to perpetuate the image of a real working band. "Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)" from 1970 was one of four near contemporaneous UK Top Ten hit singles by Burrow under different names, including White Plains' "My Baby Loves Lovin'," the Pipkins'
@lpvcrcd - I'm sorry had to check this out to be possitive and I was right about Tony being the lead singer for White Plains but singing lead for this song is Rodger Greenaway;Tony is singing back-up with the rest of the group. If you check the video in B&W you can see Greenaway singing leads for this song.LOL!
@brian6078 Greenaway only sang lead on this song on the TOTP appearance, Tony is singing here in the recording. It's a mysetry nobody has the answer to as to why Greenaway sang the song on TOTP while tony was right there singing the background.
