Last week, a 1968 Ford pickup ran a stop sign in front of me, 30 ft. away. I was going 40 mph. I braked immediately, rear tire started sliding because I was braking so hard. I impacted its cab, and the world whirled through my visor. Next thing I know, I'm on my back in the truck's bed. My legs sticking out (I'm 6'4''). My Scorpion All-In jacket, helmet, and high boots pretty much saved me. No broken bones. Walking with some bruises. Good gear + vigilance saves you (plus some luck!!!)

He is the one who wasnt in complete control and hit the truck. I was at a light and BEFORE moving off, but AFTER I got the green, a pickup came through the intersection at about 80 mph...if I hadn´t looked, I would be splattered all over....in a car, I would probably have been dead as well, as he came from the left. Yeah, this is sad. I suffered the exact same incident. A truck turned in front of me while I was traveling 50 mph. but, I was able to slide to the left and hit the bed of the truck, not the front as this rider. I was catapulted over the truck and landed 75 feet down the street. I broke all 5 lumbar vertebrae, 4 ribs on right side, 1 rib on left side, and split my right heel bone up to the ankle. God was watching out for me that day. My condolences to the family of the rider.
Yes, I still ride. But, I bought a very loud horn. :-) I have limitations now. I cannot stand for more than 15 minutes without my legs going completely numb from the knees down. Half of my L2 vertebrae is gone and spinal fusion is the only thing keeping me together. But I thank God everyday I am here for my wife and children.

When youre movin in traffic you always should be sure that all others are a potential danger to you. So don`t insist on your right of way when in traffic. It could cost your life.
