But dont dabble in stuff you dont understand and criticise an outstanding player just because he makes you feel inadequate.

Surely talented but I think the creativity issue isn't anything to be overly critical about. He's still developing as a talent & I think if he wasn't playing cover songs myself and 10s of thousands of others wouldn't be watching this vid. Also, Hendrix covered Dylan, Clapton-JJ Cale, SRV-Freddy King+Hendrix and so on. I'm just glad there are still young musicians out there instead of bogus "entertainers" that are constantly being pushed off on us.
I just think as a child he learned the technique and as he grows up he will FELL the blues, thereby being able to write his own stuff. They say you can't make it up until you've had to live through it, the blues I mean.
Excuse Me Why I KISS THE SKY - Alto Primo Bravo Fortissimo !!! Superb Maple Neck Telecaster Brilliant Mastery !!! Please come to the USA's David Letterman or Jay Leno soon !!!!!!!!!!!!!
@dipietro90 I KNOW Purple Haze is Jimi Hendrix, and I don't know what's going on with YouTube but that post that appears to be me asking, "Is Clapton black?" I did NOT make that comment. Man, how creepy. I know damn well what color Clapton is and for me to ask if he is black is absurd. Looks like something shady and hinky is going on in these YT comments. Damn!
Well, it is what it is. Hendrix was a creative anomaly. Stevie Ray a black man in a white body. Both Hendrix and SRV emulated other players before they became 'themselves', and neither of them was nearly this good at 15, so there's hope there. But first he needs some wear on him or it's unlikely he'll ever 'feel' right to us. lol, sort of like a leather jacket. He has command of most of the key phrases and idioms we all love. Now it's a matter of time and what, if anything, it does.
Yeah I suppose thats the problem with maturing at such a young age. Technique wise this guy probably hit his peak at 13 or 14. Where else do you go from there?
Nah dude that's retarded, you can always get better, if you keep practicing, there's no limits to technique, unless you're old and get arthritis or something. The only thing is, will getting really good technique actually make him a good player?
Well, that's debatable. It certainly wasn't good technique that set Hendrix in rock history, but SRV was kinda like Hendrix only with better technique & less natural talent.
@DaveSustaine I disagree, I feel that the way musicians get better over time is by becoming better songwriters. Take Steve Vai for instance, Vai was just as quick and technical on the fretboard in 1982 as he is now in 2010. But he's become a better songwriter and composer and thats what has taken him to the next level. So yes, there are limits to pure technique
Oh I see what you mean, to get to the next level of musicianship one must improve on their abilities composition-wise, which yeah I guess is true, only that can completely come from within. I mean look at Hendrix, he was virtually overflowing with creativity throughout his career, & that was pretty much natural to him. However, I must point out that technically, if you compare Steve Vai now, playing at G3 & stuff, his technique is much more advanced than it was twenty years ago with Frank Zappa.
Yeah Vai is definitely better now than he was with Zappa, but he was still a beast back then. All of that stuff comes with age and maturing as a musician and person. If you hear early Jimmy Page, he was pretty dexterous as a musician, but he didnt quite develop that producer ear that he had when Zeppelin was recording everything from Zeppelin III on
Yeah, he got better as a producer, but that doesn't really make him a better musician. The thing with Page is, because of all his session work, he was extremely versatile & even some of the stuff from the first album such as Babe I'm Gonna Leave You are genius, & personally I think they went downhill after Led Zep 4. Still lots of great stuff, Houses Of The Holy & Physical Graphite are great albums, but my point being that creativity you're born with, whereas technique increases over time.
This guy can sweep, he can play fast, and he can play Alot of songs, But his playing feels empty... hes just impitating jimi.. and not really being himself. He DEFINATELY needs to learn some vibrato, and move away from shred stuff, but for a 15 yr old hes pretty damn good
no the difference is jimi was on about 10 hits of acid.... dumbass this kid sees jimi make something "remote" to a guitar face because hes so lost in the music and the kid says hey thats what i should do because hes to stupid to realize that jimi was high... and yes he was high for most of his shows im not one of those people that advocates drugs or puts down jimi because hes the greatest but this kid... show off. i play with gratuitious feeling i dont have to have down syndrome faces.
hey, I make a lot of faces when I play, But I'm not faking them! Because I don't even realise i'm doing them lol. I've caught my self doing it when i record myself and other people have said " why are you eating carrots" lol. But it does look like he's faking it.
damn those are some of the worst guitar faces ive ever seen! haha thats on par with john mayer! haha well damn hes got his chops thats for sure. hes a year younger than me and almost as good as i am wow but his vocals are horible christ i guess its because hes foreign
What does being foreign have to do with vocal talent? Some of the greatest bands in history are foreign. ie. The Beatles, The Stones , Abba, Roxette, Elton John, Phil Collins, I could go on!!!
This is sad...thing is...this kid has talent...but he is trying to play music he does not understand...his guitar playing ability is excellent...but the vocalization sells this song...and the fact that the drummer and the bassist sound like they've been doing lines of coke just before they played...which would explain the fact that they have no idea what the rhythm of the song even sounds like...
I complemented his ability, but no I'm not jealous, I have a band called Chartruce that plays a cover of Purple Haze that in all seriousness blows them away. Search some of our videos here on Youtube or check out our Channel...just search Chartruce Live and watch both of our sample videos titled "Highway Funk" and "Juliet"...we will be adding more VERY soon, hopefully including our cover of Purple Haze. I still stand by what I said about the drummer and the bassist...they aren't even close...
i'm not going to deny his remarkable talent and ability, but i just think these kinds of performances and other young phenoms on youtube can only play great music, but are unable to create it. and i don't get any feel from him. if any it's merely surface level. i call it a performance cause that's what it is, i wouldn't classify him as a musical artist. he's a show, an entertainer. the fact that anyone is comparing him to hendrix as a musician is ridiculous, he was an artist, he created music
i agree, but he's still a kid. he's got plenty of time to create his own stuff. none of these artists were famous for stuff they did before they got their driver's licenses
@ZachariahJambalaya i agree with you!! if you only look at the solo if you are really good you improvise something there but what's played here is totally ripped!
@ZachariahJambalaya I must say...that's well spoken. While a would love the technical abilities that he has with the guitar, I would hate to be limited to a passionless, non-creative musical carreer. The good is a great guitar player...not so much a great artist. But who knows, maybe he'll grow into one day. =)
you were right when you say that he can't be compared with hendrix (at least for now), but you were wrong (in my opinion) when you say «i wouldn't classify him as a musical artist». For his age not only he has a massive amount of talent and ability, but he's already creating music... It may not sound GREAT now, but you've got to remember that hendrix and srv, for example, started to write their own music later than this guy. Until then they were playing their idols music...
All of you making negative comments don't know what the hell you're talking about. I'm 54 years old, grew up in the bay area, and lived the Hendrix years. This kid is AWESOME. It's all about the "feel" and he HAS IT. Keep it up Fredrik! You are fantastic. The rest of you can bite my old hippie ass.
it's not about the language...his voice just sucks, he was born to play guiar, not to sing...his making "sucess" beacuse he plays well, obviously is not for his singing skills
i'm from brazil and i can problably sing in english better than him
well so was jimmy hendrix he wasn't no robert plant he even admitted he wasnt a good singer but its not all about the voice if everything else is perfected
Dude! Take a look at the huge discussion ppl made about Jimi Hendrix around the hand he'd play guitar with, either lefty or right handed. They just missed the point, it doesn't fucking matter what hand he'd play with on the fretboard, but the sound he'd take from it! Keep rocking youtube, don't argue about stupid stuff. GREAT VIDEO ASLO, I JUST COULDN'T LET THAT ARGUEMENT PASS BY.
He probably plays all day and I seriously guess that thats all he does. I mean anyone who plays as much as him, has the experience, and has a good band to back him up, one can play. But playing well is different(with feel)
Jimi didnt play this upside down he was left handed and didnt want to buy a left handed guitar so he restrung the strings upside down on a right handed strat and played it left handed.
Actually Jimi Hendrix was right-handed... And he played right-handed guitars... But yes, he would flip them over and restring it upside down, but this was because he realized his right hand was stronger than the left, so he wanted to use that on the fretboard for bendings and such.
He also ate and wrote with his right hand, he was able to play the guitar both as right-handed and left-handed, but he prefered to play it left-handed, again, because he found it easier to bend with his right hand.
What are you new?The only reason why Jimi played right handed guitars was because it was easier for him to reach the controls. and he was left handed, though Jimi could play like a right handed guitar player he only did so when his father was in the room because his father thought that everything left handed was "the devil", he had to do so to avoid getting hit with a belt . Try reading a few biography's on him like myself and a few other people hear on youtube, then start correcting people.
Jimi Hendrix learned it left handed, and his father was fine with that? Devil's work? No. His father was a saxophone player and he played with his son constantly. Maybe you should read.
HIS HARDCORE ACCENT MAKES HIM SING WEIRD IN EVERY ENGLISH SONG LOL.. KINDA LIKE A DEAF KID

You have to remember that Jimi played this song upside down.
bananer0 3 years ago
But he didnt play it when he was like 13-14 years old:P

Jimi didnt play this upside down he was left handed and didnt want to buy a left handed guitar so he restrung the strings upside down on a right handed strat and played it left handed.

Actually Jimi Hendrix was right-handed... And he played right-handed guitars... But yes, he would flip them over and restring it upside down, but this was because he realized his right hand was stronger than the left, so he wanted to use that on the fretboard for bendings and such.

Why are you calling me an idiot? It's true, he said so in an interview once, i'll be happy to send you the link if you want?

Could you send the link? the link Hendrix says he was right-handed?
