You know why Mike and the Mad Dog were so successful for all those years? Because they are down to earth, everyday guys talking sports. It's as simple as that.
anyone who thinks these guys were anything but great is crazy...19 years on top is amazing and they are the best thing to listen to now a days...ESPN is a complete joke...these guys created a legacy and will always be remembered for what they produced...you cant dislike them but dont put them down for what they accomplished together for 19 years
Agree; I just wish they had been more well-rounded in their sports talk. They hardly ever mentioned hockey or basketball in their later years together.

Good riddance. One of the least knowledgeable media types around. Always got the feeling he didn't have a clue as to what he was talking about, no matter what sport he was ranting and raving about. Spent most of the time just reciting numbers , which he was usually reading from stat sheets. The guy can be replaced with a chimp.
I kinda agree with "rbiv5". Their arrogant & annoying @ times but I definitely enjoyed coming from work @ 12pm & putting on YES & catching these 2 guys on tv. I definitely agree when I say their better together than apart.
Hopefully this moron Francessa will fail miserably. He's an arrogant tool and not equipped to host sports talk in NY. How do you continue to maintain his level of ignorance when it comes to hockey in a town with 3 hockey teams? He pays more attention to horse racing than hockey. The Mad Dog will fail over at Sirius as well. Of course no one will know because no one pays attention to anyone on satellite radio (See Howard Stern for the biggest example).
First of all netboy04 mike francesa and chris russo are one the best sports talk radio guys ever. I've been listening to them for few years now. So don't be knocking on them on what they do, because you don't nothing sports talk radio and they are the best.
thanks for all the memories fellas. afternoons on the radio will never be the same.
i would love for them to continue on together, but for all u jerkoffs that say theyll be back together in 2 years, chris jus signed a 5 yr contract. its probly tru that the arguments didnt help the situation, but when a company offers u ur own channel and about twice as much $, u gotta take that shit. good luck to both of them.
ESPN is so coporatized and commericalized, i can't stand to watch many of there live studio shows. ESPN antonym was the
Mike and the Maddog show. I think in the long run both will regret how they each had a hand in ruining a program that could have gone on until they both wanted to retire. It's ashame on both of them. And a Mega loss for the shows viewers which thanks to YES network are many beyond tri state area. This sports team will be missed.
I agree. I learned more listening to them than listening to those clowns on ESPN. Sportscenter is a freakin joke as they talk nonsense that no one cares about more than actual sports. I can't stand almost every analyst there either. But Dog could not turn down the $ and his own station.
Gonna miss these 2 bozos. Loved their college and pro football picks. I think in college over the last 4 years, they were a combined 30 percent. Anytime they agreed on a pick it was money in the bank, to go the other way.
Almost broke down. Dog is the reason I started listening to them. Who is going to disagree with Mike with the Yankees now? At least he has Heussler during the updates. Mike will need a partner and I will listen to him since I cannot stand ESPN since they are so anti-NY but my afternoons will never be the same.
Moving show it's too bad that the show ended this way after 19 years - Chris did the fans and Mike and himself a injustice not because he decided to try something new but Chris did lie to the fans by saying he wasn't going anywhere because he was under contract. Chris mislead the shows fans and i'm disappointed he always got on athletes who mislead management and disregarded the fans and in the end he did something very similar. I'll miss them, they both will regret the move, it's sillness guys.
Chris did not mislead the fans. Think for a second, usually, when an employee puts in notice he gives them 2 weeks notice. How come we couldn't get 1 farewell show? The reason is that he was pushed out. Mike and Chris's relationship deteriorated to the point that they couldn't be in the same room together.
WFAN did the shows fans a great wrong by not allowing a in studio farewell. Mike conveyed as much in his monologue that the stations hierarchy didn't want him to address the shows demise. if Chris was pushed out and i believe he was then WFAN was asinine to have done so. But it does take two and both of these opinionated sportcaster superstars had a hand in the demise of the show and their partnership. We the fans will move on where? The lose is ours for now and maybe Mike & Chris someday too.
gonna miss dogs rants...as a yankee fan, im not gonna miss his magic number countdowns, haha, especially this year...mad dog must be goin nuts yankees may finally miss playoffs, and hes not gonna be in NYC to destroy us yankee fans, haha ..wish ya luck mad dog
Been listening to them since 1994. As a duo they've been the best in the business at what they do. When something important was happening in sports you tuned into these guys to get their take. Neither one was better without the other one there. Sports talk radio will never be the same.
Bummer - will still listen to Mike on occasion but will miss the show as it was. Still hard to believe Dog's left.
The best sports show that has ever hit the air waves, and i can't believe its over. I must say that i thank you Mike and the Mad Dog for some great times, i am grateful that u guys gave me something to look forward over the many years, u made a day at work and then driving home and watching on YES alot better as it took me away from my day and listening to something i enjoyed. Thanks Guys for the memories, i am gonna miss the show greatly. Ty

It doesn't really get more pompous than Mikey.

My favorite show ever was October 3, 1995 when OJ Simpson was acquitted. They were freakin' pissed, and understandably so.
