@st33lythrowindude23 did you even read my comment? he has 2 cords. one has the usb cord stuck into a hole on the altoids container, with the iphone end off screen. the other cord has the usb end plugged into his computer (off cam), with the iphone end on screen. but, he disguised it well enough to make them look like 1 cord. notice how he never shows the FULL cord on screen! stupid mofo.

@sonicandvideos This uses a small chip that sends a specific voltage out to the specifics of the device. Basically apple products use a specific voltage out of the ub serial connector thing, as a way of making it harder for 3rd party manufacturers to make chargers or other acessories for their devices, it's just a bit stupid!

Hey ! i made a charger like this, but my ipod touch didn't charge. I conclued little bit time after the ipod touch or iphone need to signal in data+ and data- (wire in middle to the usb female) but i don't know what i must use as capacitor and resitor values :S Do you have the schematics ? @Gouki87 Tancks ! I made a charger too and he works very well. With just a voltage regulator, led, and 5 resistor. I will post a video about my 9v charger into usb 5v ;) And it works with my camera, my ipod touch and iphone etc... Thancks again for you response :p

can you tell me how you made it because i heard that they dont work for iphones unless you short the signal inputs on the female usb hub

@mjp4xx this uses a special circuit board you can buy from adafruit which incorporates a basic microchip.

Basically, when the USB is plugged in and the circuit is completed, the microchip detects the appropriate voltage to send (which is how iphone's make their rechargers exclusive) and simply alters the output voltage to the port.

Or at least I believe that's how it works
