My point was that he's done so much recording on his own that he knows where the mic should be in order to get the right sound. Hence I his words: "I think mic placement is really important. I spend quite a lot of time just moving mics slightly to get the right sound." If he knows this, do you really think he would move the mic for no reason? And he probably got confirmation that it sounded alright. I could bet money that he didn't get "told" not to do it again. He IS a sound technician.

I'm sorry, but who the f**k does Jonsi think he is at 2:13 walking over and moving the placement of the microphone at ABBEY ROAD. If he knew anything about recording, he would know that moving a hot condenser microphone that is recording is going to create all kinds of crap they'll have to delete, and more importantly, he has NO BUSINESS moving it in the first place as even if he was a GREAT recording engineer (which is extremely unlikely) the engineers at Abbey Road are better. See the other comments on here if you haven't already. Jonsi adjusting the mic actually goes to show what a master he is. He's not like some other stars who are escorted to the spotlight and don't know a thing about what's going on around them. He's had to build his band from the ground up, and because he's so particular, has been involved in every aspect. Listen to the incredibly subtle self-made "Riceboy Sleeps" to get a sense of that.

You clearly don't understand the amount of work is done on vocals usually after they've been recorded. You'd be really surprised, they spend months on vocals for loads of bands.

You clearly don't understand him.. Árá Bátur was recorded in one take. What you see and hear in this video is the actual version that's on the album... The cd could be released as fast as it did, because they didn't change a lot in the studio.

I agree i love when bands change things up.check out the band mute math if you havnt yet.first listen to the CD and then listen to the live CD(or dvd of the same live show).even if you dont like the music too much its amazing how much they change up the songs.they even intertwine the songs together on the CD and live shows...but anywho one of the best live bands out there.they pull off the quality of a CD BUT they keep it really live and have the vibe that anything can happen
