@bowleramaa did you see the log he threw the first frame????? You don't get that from feathering the ball... this guy has twice the hand of the normal one handed bowler
@BowlingDiseased Oh man I remember Jimmy Keeth he rolled one hell of a ball. But so does Rudy I like how he puts so much on the ball and remains steady at the foul line.
@BowlingDiseased yeah the good ol days. Now they have resin and particle balls now almost anyone can score on a houseshot with boatloads of room. I miss where you had to be pinpoint accurate with a rubber or plastic ball. Now hell you have 8-12 boards of room on a houseshot its stupid. And half the people wont bowl on the PBA experience patterns in my town cause they say its "To Hard". Its stupid anymore I miss the 90's where you would just take one ball and make it work. Now people have 2-6
@triggerdigger213 They are the best in the world, they shouldn't let noise affect them. I think the PBA broadcasts are kind of boring now being taped and quiet. Live and loud made bowling really popular. Now it's a snooze.
Yeah the PBA for some reason went through a time when the fans could shout. It only lasted a short while. I think the PBA was trying to Showcase a new PBA it just never worked.
I agree, he is not as good as he ought to be, especially during 1999 when Particle stuff was first being invented. He really could have put Particle stuff on the map with his psycho rev rate.
why the hell is rudy playing such a tight line. i think barnes is throwing a bigger hook then him. with rudy's revs and power, he could easily afford to open up the lane a bit more by playing a bigger line, thus having a better margin of error

Rudy Is awesome, I've watched him bowl ALOT since I've been doing it. I'm from Alabama and everybody around knows me as lil rudy :) Cuz I put so much on tha ball and I'm a shorter version of Rudy. Daniel Smith 17. From Birmingham AL.
I remember going down to BOG watching Rudy bowl when he won his regional in Staten Island NY as mentioned in this video. I was 8 years old at the time, but I remember that insanely high backswing from a fat guy lol.
Rudy is definately one of the best to never win on Tour.
I think if he would have had a different ball in his hand watch that ball deflect on pocket hits that ball did the same thing for me and it was last hammer ball I ever bought until ebonite bought them
I agree Hammer made the best urethane balls of all time and the worst resin balls of all time. Now they are great again under Ebonite. Black Widow may be the best ball I ever owned.
I knew Rudy very well back in the 80s on Long Island....his overpowering style gave him superior carry and that was his advantage over everyone else....
BUT....on tour, accuracy and speed control are of higher importance than on a house shot, and he had trouble with this.... there's much less "area" on the pro conditions..
His best years were probably from 89-99. After that I think his style just caught up to him physically. He was certainly a natural and probably just came 15 years too late. He would have dominated the tour in the 70's.

Who puts more on the ball Robert Smith or Rudy? I think Smith
TyRTi 1 year ago
@TyRTi Robert Smith but Rudy was throwing it like this in the mid 80's. I would say only Jimmy Keeth rivaled Rudy back then.

@TyRTi I could remember watching Rudy in 1988 or 89 using a Ebonite Maxim off the gutter sending helicopter messengers. It was insane.

Probably gets better pin action that way. If he goes the long route " big hook " he'll probably leave ten pins all day.

First Amateur title. I lost to Rudy in 94' the Jim Lustig Labor Day Scratch Challenge. Rudy won $10,000. I settled for $5,000.
