Mostly it's an opinion, but Tigers rarely fight or have to defend themselves or their cubs unless they are mothers. Territorial disputes are usually just a few swipes and then one backs off, because if the Tiger gets injured, it won't be able to hunt properly, whereas a Lion doesn't have that problem because the Lionesses bring him food.

All of the fights I see on Youtube, either between Tigers and Tigers, or Lions and Tigers, the Tiger always submits and tries to escape. I haven't seen one real video of a fight where a Tiger killed or beat a Lion in a genuine confrontation, not a flurry of two paw swipes that don't even make contact half the time.

The Lion is built more like Ali, A lean animal with good aerobic capability and in question a better fighter. The Lion is taller at the shoulder and leaner in the limbs with a mane as protection. @2minds2many Tigers are stronger and bulkier due to requirements of a solitary lifestyle and hunting. Lions live in prides meaning they rely on each over and co-ordinate efforts in hunting. There is no such thing as pound for pound. The Tiger is simply a stronger beast. In terms of fighting naturally the Lion is better due to Pride ranks and constant fighting. one thing you have to understand this isn't a boxing match it's a death match. A tiger burn far more energy with it's quick swipes that don't phase a lion while a lion's blow could take the tiger to the ground with one hit, and once that happens they would get behind them or on the neck. Also keep in mind the african lion isn't what it use to be because of hunters prides have shrunk resulting in inbreeeding of smaller weaker lions.

The Lion has thousands of these decorations and more, while the Tiger has nothing. The Lion was a roman symbol. They wouldn't have chosen a losing animal as their symbol. Mostly it's an opinion, but Tigers rarely fight or have to defend themselves or their cubs unless they are mothers. Territorial disputes are usually just a few swipes and then one backs off, because if the Tiger gets injured, it won't be able to hunt properly, whereas a Lion doesn't have that problem because the Lionesses bring him food.

You said that Lion fights often result in a few strikes with then one side submitting, which is what Tiger's are known to do in conflicts. All of the fights I see on Youtube, either between Tigers and Tigers, or Lions and Tigers, the Tiger always submits and tries to escape. I haven't seen one real video of a fight where a Tiger killed or beat a Lion in a genuine confrontation, not a flurry of two paw swipes that don't even make contact half the time.

@2minds2many The Tiger is built more like Tyson shorter and stockier in terms of human-animal comparison. The Lion is built more like Ali, A lean animal with good aerobic capability and in question a better fighter. The Lion is taller at the shoulder and leaner in the limbs with a mane as protection. The Tiger is bulkier heavier and stronger but this doesn't always mean victory. In personal opinion i would place my money on the Tiger but who knows i would never condone animal abuse.

@2minds2many Tigers are stronger and bulkier due to requirements of a solitary lifestyle and hunting. Lions live in prides meaning they rely on each over and co-ordinate efforts in hunting. There is no such thing as pound for pound. The Tiger is simply a stronger beast. In terms of fighting naturally the Lion is better due to Pride ranks and constant fighting. If a fight broke out im simply saying im going Tiger but only because of the animals powerful build. But yeah Lion is king of the beasts.

That's what pound for pound is. So if a larger Tiger is fighting a Lion, than the Lions pound for pound muscle mass will compensate for the size difference. The power that the Tiger has is also not very helpful to them because Lions know how to use the power of their opponent to their own advantage...

Lions will use the power opponents use to attack with by positioning their bodies so that the power their opponent puts into its attack will cause them to become off balance when they miss and be vulnerable to counter attack. When Tigers have to react quickly, it's mostly Instinctive and defensive while with Lions, it's mostly Offensive, Instinctive, but also Intuitive. This is due to a difference in brain chemestries. I study psychoanalysis and some neuropsychology....

People should go to the wild to bring videos showing the real lives, fights & dominations of these two animals. Regardless of the argument, lions have been crowned the king of beasts. Tigers killing adult gaurs does not occur regularly. Male lions have been known to kill giraffe and buffalo bulls, so lions are also capable of great feats.

one thing you have to understand this isn't a boxing match it's a death match. A tiger burn far more energy with it's quick swipes that don't phase a lion while a lion's blow could take the tiger to the ground with one hit, and once that happens they would get behind them or on the neck. Also keep in mind the african lion isn't what it use to be because of hunters prides have shrunk resulting in inbreeeding of smaller weaker lions.
