  • College libraries, relaxing?! Ha! More like a never-ending fight for desks. With people moving your stuff onto the floor if you're gone for longer than a minute. Sigh. (I do miss it, though.)

  • Btw, not true that the UL has 'every book ever'. Actually, they have about half of the books that the British Library has (7m titles relative to the BL's 14m; the Bodleian in Oxford has about 10m). This is because a copy of every book published in the UK *must* be sent to the BL, but the university libraries reserve the right to refuse books if they feel they wont be needed.

  • The first one looks like my college library, St. Edmund's.

  • woah, juice cake and massages!

  • Paper libraries are bunk. I'm amazed that people think it is going to be like this in even the short term future.

How do you search through a paper book, and what is the point of becoming good at doing it when a computer will do it so much better ? It is not a skill worth acquiring.

  • @tonycatman

because a paper book does not give me eyestrain. and because being at a computer will never feel like being at work. for me, in any case.

  • @tonycatman

You really think computers can be substitute for real books? Well sorry to tell you but you're wrong. Do you really think that computers can help you become more skillful and more inteligent by doing all the work instead of you? No wonder our generations are being more and more stupid. If every computer in this world was to be shut down forever we wouldn't even know what to do. And that's sad.

  • @tonycatman

I like gadgets, and I believe computers have transformed our society but I've yet to see a good old fashioned book run out of power or suffer hard drive crash or RAM failure or stolen. Books will always be around. However I do agree that a laptop or E-Book is a lot lighter to carry compared to several volumes of 'History Of Roman Empire' etc....

  • Which college's library is this?

  • @CamTheCurious It's a variety - Fitzwilliam, Homerton, Clare colleges, English faculty library, law faculty library, and the main University library to name but a few.

  • @CamTheCurious i'm pretty sure this library is part of Trinity Hall

  • @CamTheCurious The first one is Fitzwilliam College library.

  • Why do I now feel guilty that I never entered any library at Cam except to photocopy stuff in my entire first year?

  • Amazing library system. I'm applying to Cambridge for graduate school for physics in 2 years.

  • Very Impressive.

  • Nice crib. This place is huge! My school only has 1 bookcase. If it's not there, you look it up on google.

  • Less drink. More work. Now get lost.
