@alyek321 at the garage. There's not really an outward ranking system I know of, but I am a beginner. I've been training there since the summer.

@alyek321 My teacher is Grandmaster Narrie Babao. He teaches Babao Arnis, Doce Pares Escrima and Eskrido. I once saw a FMA demo at that park by the IB pier, so that was probably them. I'd like to check out a class some time, but Imperial Beach is a pretty far drive too.

@alyek321 I studied choy li fut and I did appreciate it- otherwise I wouldn't have spent almost a decade doing it, but eventually I felt it was time to move on. Now I study arnis.

@alyek321 I don't know what dojos they're from. I was just there with a friend as a spectator. I am not a kung fu expert- I studied it for years, taught for a few years and performed well, and realized that I didn't know as much about the martial arts as I wanted to. I started over a few months ago as a lowly student of a different style, where I am confident that my teacher has a lot to share with me for years.

@alyek321 My honest opinion is that martial arts are learned and evolve through people of different schools and methods getting together and engaging in live training. A lot of places are insular- they won't compete with anyone else outside of their own dojo, and that is not good. Do I think these guys are great? Not really, but they're out there, getting punched and kicked by people of other styles, and this is a step in the right direction, and I will not discourage them from continuing.

@alyek321 This was a small open tournament. I am not a competitor and am not affiliated with any of these people. I believe the next tournament will be during the summer; you should do some research if you're in OB so you can show how fast and evasive you are.
