There are two ways to instill discipline in young recruits. One is by brutalising them, with painful excercises and bullying, just like the Russian Military. The second way is to apply mental pressure on the recruits, and train them for drill, just like the U.S Military and European armies.
People, keep in mind that this is NOT the Russian army. The leaders shown in this video are just a group of pathetic kids who got beaten and abused by their families and went into the army to express their anger on others. "Dedovshina" is not practiced by the developed and well funded sectors of the Russian army. This is probably some small village base at the Kazakh border where not much attention is devoted.
@Woods172 I've seen boot-camps in the Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod Oblasts. I've been there and served under the base commanders. They were, in my opinion, the most professional soldiers I've ever seen. They demanded soldiers to be tough and resilient, granted, but every one of us was given a fair chance. Only those who actively showed lethargy and whining were yelled at and beaten (rarely) but those of us who actively tried to participate received inspirational slogans from our senior officers.

People, keep in mind that this is NOT the Russian army. The leaders shown in this video are just a group of pathetic kids who got beaten and abused by their families and went into the army to express their anger on others. "Dedovshina" is not practiced by the developed and well funded sectors of the Russian army. This is probably some small village base at the Kazakh border where not much attention is devoted.

@Woods172 I've seen boot-camps in the Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod Oblasts. I've been there and served under the base commanders. They were, in my opinion, the most professional soldiers I've ever seen. They demanded soldiers to be tough and resilient, granted, but every one of us was given a fair chance. Only those who actively showed lethargy and whining were yelled at and beaten (rarely) but those of us who actively tried to participate received inspirational slogans from our senior officers.
