Two of my caps were visibly popped but advice from badcaps.com suggested replacing all the 8-12mm caps. I found quality caps from a reliable manufacturer at Mouser Electronics.
Here are the descriptions of the Aluminum Electrolytic Capacitors I ordered: 50volts 470uF 12.5x20, 220uF 50volts 10x20, 16volts 680uF 10x12.5, 16volts 1000uF 10X16. All are 105C rated and the total was less than $3. (~$10 including shipping)
Thanks very very much for your video it helped me a LOT i was going to just get a new one but then i thought i would just have a look on YouTube on how to fix it. After seeing your video it made my life VERY EASY. I have a ViewSonic VX2235WM and it took me longer to get the cover off than fixing it lol.
This is the first time that i have ever fixed any thing like this or soldered before so if you are thinking that you might not be abled to do it then just give it a go you to will be surprised.
My Viewsonic VG2021m was having problems waking up (the back light wouldn't come on until the 8-10th time you pushed the power button). I saw this video and decided to try fix it myself. The procedure was almost identical, differing only in minor details, and the local Radio Trash store had the 1000 uF 25V capacitors in stock. It worked like a charm. Thanks PureBredSystems for this highly practical video.
I followed the instructions in this set of videos and everything is working great now! Saved me a crapload of cash and was much easier than I expected.
Once I finally got to the board itself it was obvious which capacitor needed replacing (bulged and leaking onto the motherboard).
how did you know was a capacitor problem and which . please tell me did you test each individual capasitor with a multimeter ? or did you test each capasitor on the circuit by using other kind of tool ?
