It's so rich. And so soft and I love the little expressions and details.

It's so much better than most American animation. These are a series of specials, right? Quality over quantity.

Angelcakes is adorable, but I wonder why she's so hard on herself and overpolite. Too-strict parents? Any parents? Gee, where are all their parents?

This movie rocks. I didn' realize Angel Cake was so pathetic! I love her just the same, but she needs to cut the diet crap. I love the opening song and the closing song with the caliope music!

I heard that the old version like this had only 1 new episode per year, and that eps 1 and 3 were animated by Toei Doga, now Toe Animation. That's the SAME Japanese anime studio that made Sailor Moon and Dragon Ball Z. So what's a Japanese studio doing animating an AMERICAN cartoon?

I don't think I'm even going to call the Pieman a "villain" anymore. Villains usually pursue their self-interest, like money or power or status.

THIS guy doesn't seem to want anything other than to make Shortcake miserable. Flooding her home, cheating her out of a gazebo (that he couldn't use), and now stealing a tricycle (that's too small for him).

This man isn't a villain, he's an overgrown schoolyard bully, motivated only by sadism and cruelty.

It's very revealing of the world children live in/should live in. Strawberry land is marked by safety and love, two things every kid needs. I think SSC reminds us that we all need that no matter how old we are.

I so agree with you... I saw all the SSC specials when I was around 5 and 6, and I remember I enjoyed the first three the most, 'The World of SSC', 'Big Apple City' and 'Pets on Parade'... I am 23 now and these still make me smile... I truly remember feeling so safe while watching these... I remember my grandma died when I saw these and I felt so comforted...
