  • like if you were looking for Epic Meal Time

  • I AM AN EMT. but its hard to get hired as one..

  • thanks for sharing this wonderful video about EMT such a useful tips

  • wow where can i train for this paramedic? i am a nurse here in philippines.. please email me at reneltams@yahoo.com thanks

  • Can I be an emt if I'm color blind

  • @Rangerleadtheway44 You need to take a eye test, i think it's standard anyway

  • since when did Ron White work in an ER?

    lol

  • in canada

  • how much does the normal paramedic make

  • @jalen77232 I'm not sure, but my dad (17 years experience) told me "If you're a Paramedic and live by yourself you'll be fine, but if you wanna have a wife and kids you may have some money problems" so that's all I can answer for you.

  • come to canada.. ontario.. its 34$

  • Are there any other medical fields in which you can become an EMT and not be around loud sirens?

  • @CoolConejo You could work at a hospital

  • Im planning to become an emt and im also gonna go into the hosa emt competition

  • Paramedic and EMT same thing right ?

  • @steelersboy4life a paramedic has higher knowledge of medical skills than an emt

  • how much do paramedics make in los angeles?

  • Anatomy and Physiology is probably one of the fav. topics i like to learn in the curriculum and of course, learning how to save lives!!

  • so to become an EMT paramedic you need Firefighting training?

  • @awweannabelle No,... to be firefighter you must be trained as EMT or Paramedic

  • I earn about 50k per year as a paramedic (excluding signing up for overtime shifts) here in south Louisiana, which is pretty good, when you factor in the relative lower cost of living we have.

but given my level of training, responsibility, scope of practice and danger that is inherent with the job, (etc.) im underpaid. especially because i work for a ems service with a very high call volume.

but....... at least i get to do a job i love. how many people can say that?

  • Btw guys, they are showing Firefighter/Paramedics. Depending on where they live, they are getting a great salary. 70k at the least.

  • @huhster783 Im thinking the exact same thing. What are the requirements for firefighter/paramedic after you have already became a certified emt-b and passed the paramedic school/training?

  • I am currently taking an EMT class. After I pass this class, I will be a certified EMT-B. I am planning on going to Paramedic school after this. I did research the salary they get and its a disgrace for what they do. They save lives, they have to know so much and if they screw up just once, their career if over. This is the reason why I am attending the Fire Academy as well. Firefighter/Paramedic is what my future career is going to be. The salary more than doubles.

  • Comment removed

  • why do they get paid so low?

  • emt-b make around 24k to 30k.

  • Very informative, I wish I watched this a year ago when I was living in Seattle.

  • can anyone tell me where i can train as an EMT in germany or sweden?

    any websites?

  • true heroes, brilliant video

  • @skunksash I strongly agree with you

  • Did he say 2000 hour???? As in literal hours or academic hours?

  • @GAStayPosi Literal hours. But, that may have been over estimated. In FL its like a 1300 hour course collectively in clinicals (internship) and classroom/lab. The program I am in is 1 year long

  • If you really put your heart into being a paramedic, pay does not matter. What matters is your intentions. If this job is to pay the bills but with no passion, then you might be wasting your time cause it is shift work hours and that equates to lesser routinely family times. If you are expecting pay like a doctor's, then be a doctor, not a paramedic. Basically every service job is about passion, same goes as retail or security.

  • @skunksash .....Very well said.

  • EMT from Alberta, Canada here. Pay isnt too bad....

  • why do EMT's get paid so little?I live in Orange County,ca and was looking into becoming an EMT but when I saw job posting that were only going to pay $10-$12 dollars an hour. For me to go to Orange Coast College for a year to meet the requirements to get an EMT cert. it doesn't seem like a good idea. I can get a security job with only 8 hours of instruction and make the same amount of money. Now I know the reason to be an EMT isn't to get rich but the pay should be more.Right?

  • @JustinElMusico

believe me I agree with you, I work with a guy was was a standby medic for a wildfire suppression group, he sat there making 18 bucks an hour on 24 hour shifts. He said to me he had maybe treated 12 injuries in his three months of working there with them. He transferred over to a city dpt he said he was making 10 an hour, and he treated somebody nearly everyday! These guys DO deserve more!

  • R there any EMT i can tlk 2?

  • i just got through with school in dallas tx. I got my clinicals ( rotations ) coming up. Im kinda nervous just b/c i wanna do so well

  • paramedics get a pretty decent pay. my uncle gets paid $19.62 an hour.

  • routine emergencies?

  • I'm looking into a paramedic career. So a paramedic is also a fireman? Can I just be a paramedic?

  • @gullysquid nope! There is seperate course for fire and resuce.

  • @maverickgirl71 thank you

  • @gullysquid You don't have to be a firefighter to be a paramedic. You can be just a paramedic. Look into joining a volunteer fire department that does EMS, go to a community college, or look for EMS programs in your area.

  • im doing medic training in MI, where is this?

  • hopefully if I go in The Navy I can be a Paramedic. I'm 17 now and I'm trying to get my GED so I can enlist in The Navy. :)

  • @Carrie1600 really hate to say this Carrie but the Military doesn't except a G.E.D anymore you have to go to college and get a certain amount of credits to be equivalent to a high school diploma.I know because I was calling and thinking of joining the Marines and I just received my G.E.D in August.Pissed me off and I am sure it will piss you off to =/..It's fucked up imo

  • @legend1617 the army takes GED

  • @MikePetroneHipHop the army in the united states requires you to have at least 15 college credits if you only have a g.e.d to be equivalent to a high school diploma if you don't believe me contact a recruiter or check out there website...I believe it is on the front page lol..

  • I'm starting my EMT-B Training next month, and even now I know already you can NOT administer any type of drug, narcotic or anything drug related without the standing Medical Doctor's Permission at the Hospital en route to. Just standard protocol for New York EMS..

  • @oscarface76 Hi, I'm from Italy and I just wanted to ask you a couple of questions

I work at the white cross its a splinter group of the red cross the only thing is that we are pretty smal and we are only here in our state called southtyrol.

now those are my questions :

DO american paramedics can set a needle on a patient or do they have to wait for the emergency doc?

How much do american paramedics earn?

And how are the transports of the sick persons managed

I'm sorry for my bad english .

  • @oscarface76 omgz youre so knowledgable. no emt OR medic can do ANYTHING whotsoever without a physicians standing orders, regardless of who the physician is.

  • wow that was awesome! im gonna have to check n2 my near by college to c if i can get involved

  • cool video! im 16 years old and i want to get involed in paramedics, how do i?

  • @kendall264

your local collages may have programs check my favorites there is a video of a news cast about a group of emt 16 year old

i am 18 and enrolled in my school dual enrollment emt basic class

  • true. one of the services i rode when i was in medic class wasnt allowed to give oxygen without asking permission. the service i work under is true busy for the doctor to sit on the radio so, they have gave us permission to do what is needed. there are some drugs we do have to call for or call for a second dose. protocols are not the same for every service. i totally agree with you there not that i was disagreeing to begin with.

  • they make around 30K, average. if your're just starting out it is prob more around 20 25. for the amount of stress in their job you would think it would be more.

  • How much do they make starting off in Raleigh, NC?

  • probably around 50k i geuss? i think fire fighters are about 45k

  • 04medic, maybe YOUR not smart enough to do anything thing else but all the medics I know do the job because they love it. Not because they're not smart enough for anything else. As a matter of fact I doubt your even a medic at all because no self respecting medic woujld ever say that.

  • do you know what sarcasm is? i grew up in this field. it wasnt an insult. it was sarcasm

  • start at 60k in ashland ky...

  • what can we do to change their pay??? I don't agree that since paramedicine isn't as "old" nursing that they shouldn't get paid as much- that's just what I heard. Their lives are just as stressful and difficult

  • as a paramedic we can do more then a nurse. in the field we are the ones making the calls. in the hospital, the nurse has to ask the doctor what to do. as far as treatment, medics can intubate, do surgical airways, and administer the medicine under our own without asking the doctor first.

  • paramedics operate under protocols validated by their medical director. With that in mind they are still not practicing medicine without asking.

  • @04medic - wrong, Paramedics can NOT give medicine without first asking the head doctor at the hospital in which they are in route to.

  • i am a paramedic. and i do not have to call to get permission to give medicine. have you ever heard of standing orders? do some research first.

  • @04medic - well i guess either 1- your not a real paramedic and you are full of shit or 2- you have lousy protocols. i know every paramedic around here on the way to the hospital MUST ask the doctor in charge at the hospital before admin. meds..

  • really? i am full of shit? i am not a paramedic? fuck you. i am a goddamn paramedic in indiana mother fucker. i am NREMT-P as well. i have an assocate degree in paramedic science. fuck you. i have protocols that give me the go ahead to do what needs to be done without fucking asking mother fucker

  • @04medic

LOL I feel bad for the patients who have to deal with someone who gets so mad at something so stupid like a comment on YouTube. You're a great example of professionalism.

  • it is so sad that paramedics get such a shitty salary

  • They deserve ALOT more.,...

  • @KitchenPillow It varies greaty on the state you live in. some make 22$ an hour, which isn't too bad, because they get long shifts

  • @KitchenPillow depends on where you work. Fire/Paramedics I know around me start at 50k entry level, and can make up to 70k+. And then you can always get some extra schooling and become department managers, or other higher positions and make over 100k while still doing some paramedic work.

  • @KitchenPillow Some dont even get paid at all

  • @KitchenPillow wat they need is a union

  • @KitchenPillow to be honest for most people like me it isnt about the salary it is about saving the life and the gratification of that

  • @lipman19 well yes, but you can't be a paramedic forever, yes they help people but they can't help people if they can't support themselves or their families.

  • @g4bandit thats dumb that is one of the only things i want to do with my life what else can i do

  • I am an EMT-B for CHOMP in California and here we only as EMTs work with O2 Charcoal and Oral Glucose. We have to have Medical Direction to assist with Epi and Nitro.

  • I am in Northeastern PA and Paramedic's start here at 35,000-40,000.00 / Year

  • in Israel paramedics earn about 5-6$ an hour.

a security guard earns more than them.

    its a disgrace.

  • well first of all i am from israel, and i want to be a paramedic when i go to the army, a israeli paramedic eran's about 25 to 75 shekel an hour (it depends on the time and his vetern...)

    glad i could help :)

  • @Rdfa202 well that sucks! I wanted to be a paramedic in Israel : ' [ . My brother's in the army over there, and he doesn't get paid too much.

  • @Rdfa202

That makes me feel like I made a mistake since im a security guard now and i'm in school to be a paramedic lol. Hopefully that is just in israel ...otherwise i will be kicking my own ass soon.

  • @Rdfa202 sucks to be in israel.

  • Dude i really wanna be a paramedic i hear they earn up to $28.000 to 70.000$ a year =)

  • It's not about the money, it's about what you want to do in life. I know people that earn 150k a year and have miserable lives, if your in it for the money you won't last long on the job.

  • i never said it was about the money

  • i would like go to US but i dont no how mach did you became to Paramedic . ????????????

  • gr8 video! i'm starting class for EMT jan 5th. i cant wait! i want to get up to the paramedic level. i've been told its only one step under an RN. we need more people like this that care about other people.

  • Leaning and training to becoming an EMT is fun but nothing like Paramedic. One thing that took me back was assisting in delivering a baby at the hospital.

  • very well done video. Good job.

  • Im still in grade 9 but I am very very interested in becoming a paramedic

  • Same here. =]

  • you also stick to your goals!

  • stick to your goal!!

  • 14 years now for me. I love every minute of it. I hope all of you really pay attention to this video.

  • hey i start training for emt - i training sept.9th any pointers/advise you can give me? thanks!

  • I would not want to be an EMT but thank god some people do

  • Starting my classes in October, can't wait. Really can't wait to get out there and help people.

  • Thats why are world is such a good place:) cuz of peoples like you:> teehee that sounded really cheese but its true

  • i still have 2 years till i can take the class but that will give me time to get ready for it

  • i start my schooling for paramedic this year this video just got me even more excited!...nervous but excited

  • guys, check out thepoleshift . com to see how much time is left till this profession will be really needed...

  • I start my EMt training tuesday! im so excited!

  • Medic here. Medic vs EMT is night and day. Dont get too cocky with your emt stuff, you'll be taking grandmas to their dr's appointments all day.

  • Sounds like you're the one getting too cocky. Well man, Medic vs. Doctor is night and day, you'll be playing personal driver for the real doctors all day, having to call the big boys and ask them what to do.

Why would you respond to that persons comment so negatively? Dick.

  • no offence, you gotta start somewhere right?

  • They saved my life when i thought i was dieing...stupid panic attack. I was so scared

  • Don't worry about it, panic attacks are pretty damn scary.

  • I had those for a long time, the first time, i was so scared.

  • Heroes.

  • time for a carrer change i wanna be an emt then in the future become a firefighter its very interesting.

  • I want to become and emt. I am 14 is there any thing i can do

  • in NJ you hav to be 15 or older to first volunteer as an EMT and go through the whole training process as well. I suggest either go to caree fairs at your school or local highschool or google your township for EMT training opportunities. And you can even apply online like i did!

  • All the states I know of is that you have to be at least 18 to get your EMT cert.

  • The medic doing cpr in this video is doing it incorrectly. His shoulders should be right above the casualty, his arms and upper legs straight, and he should be pushing down about 1/3 of the patient's body depth.

  • He is practicing on a living person...

  • hes also a paramedic he can do cpr however the fuck he wants...

  • paramedics dont do CPR..... thats what EMTS are for!

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. I've been considering becoming a paramedic, and this video really helped. I'm only a freshman so I don't know, but this helped me get one step closer to knowing.

  • also, carazo, did you have to complete your EMT-B and EMT-I before you started your paramedic program? If I were to count starting from EMT-B through EMT-I and my current training it would have taken me over 4 years to get my certification as a Paramedic, even though the Paramedic class is only 1 year long.

  • do you have to go through firefighting training to be an EMT?

  • no u can go through colleges...

  • mainly technical colleges that offer EMT/Paramedic courses

  • what i dont get is y. is the program so short!! im going to start my practice now in jan. its been all most 2 1/2 years since i started... an a nothe question is why the ems is cumbined with the FD? i dont get it

  • First, before you decide to work for any agency, you might want to buy a book called "Hooked On Phonics" which teaches you the fundamentals of spelling and sentence writing. So far, approximately 80% of your question is spelled incorrectly, not to mention two of the sentences are run on! If you don"t have a clue what a run on sentence is, "Hooked On Phonics" will tell you! Good luck in your extended years of Paramedic school. Please don"t apply in my area!

  • lmao. oh how I love comments like these. :)

  • "So far, approximately 80% of your question is spelled incorrectly"

    Lol, IS?

  • Was there a fire tone going off in the background in the first part of the video?

  • In a single tiered system EMTs are the only provider. In two tiered systems EMTs respond to BLS calls. For ALS calls both Paramedics and the closest EMT units are sent. The initial EMT actions, prior to arrival of ALS, often make the greatest impact on patient outcome. Both levels of training are critical to providing quality patient care. Ultimately, there is a difference in training and procedures..Taxpayers need this information when considering which level of service to fund.

  • Please note "medical ***direction***" not "correction." Additionally, now that I'm thinking about it. If your state doesn't allow EMT-B's to use combitube, record 3-lead ECG, administer NTG, ASA, Epi, Albuterol/Atrovent, AC, OG then perhaps you need to suggest your State EMS system update itself to at least the year 2000. In OK, in areas where time to ED is >40 minutes, EMT-B's can be approved by medical director for IV's as well. Our EMT-B's and EMT-I's are some of the best in the world.

  • Lemee know how that Nitro works in your next right sided MI patient...and why do you want to record 3 leads? need something to blow your nose on?

  • This was made by a paragod. Absolutely the most insulting piece of work towards EMS I've ever seen. "they respond to non-life threatening situations." Over 70% of all EMS services in this country are BLS. I guess they should start refusing calls like cardiac arrest, MI, shooting/stabbing, MVA, traumatic falls, etc. BLS, when done with medical correction allows for many drugs including life savers such as NTG, epi, albuterol/atrovent and combitube intubation. ALL levels of EMT save lives. Period!

  • grat video!

  • Emts only respond to non- life threatening emergencies? I guess shots, stabs, ped strucks arent life threatening. And where i'm from, those are bls responses.

  • sweet video

  • less u go through the vessel...

    which is bad

  • isit hard to start an iv

  • it take's practice ..... and pends on the anatomy and condition of the patient
