@supremeleader102 - I'm pretty sure negro and colored haven't been acceptable labels for thirty years. I'm 23 and never thought they were okay. Negro and colored go back to more segregated times, probably why they were dropped as labels. The NAACP is a group with a historical name, they're not gonna change it. The offensive part of the comment isn't that he used the word negro, he's probably just an old man. It's the implication that dark skin or a black accent is somehow worse than the other.

So, Michael Steele is basically saying, he didn't mean anything by saying "I'm being an honest injun here," so it's okay. Harry Reid said as much, but it was an accident and he didn't mean it. By Steele's logic it's okay for him to say it because he's a Republican, but not a Democrat, like Reid, because they tend to sit in the tower when it comes to race. Pure bullshit. Sorry Steele, why don't you ask a Native-American what they think about that. You are not infallible.

To all those who say "..and just what is a negro dialect anyway?" I say check out Samuel L. Jackson's character in the movie Jackie Brown:-) Love the guy, but how many world leaders would be able to understand him? So... no really presendential material I'm afraid. I just think that political correctness, though well-meant, tends to make us lose touch with reality. So all those ghetto movies must be fake then, as there is no dialect, right?:-)

Well, I'm from UK and I can tell you we have loads of dialects but they are spoken by all ethnicities according to region. This means you can have a cracker, a paki and a nigga speaking exactly the same way.
