  • I will never tire from watching this for many reasons!

    Al x

  • Yes your probably correct, there was an indigenous Welsh speaking population in Hereford until the early 20th century.

    Cheers

  • Since the last devoloution vote (i.e. 2 weeks ago) and some of the comments written below it seems acceptable to be a "pro devolution" county. Its worth noting the at the English Nationlist party plan to give Monmoushire (the only county who voted by a very small majority against more Asembly powers) the option of joining England and leaving Wales. Hmmm? Al

  • @Sewin2 areas that used to be part of wales before the rigged 1536 boundary ...think West of Clun..think rural west oswestry, think archenfield and peterchruch which were all welsh speaking areas in 1800s....they should get a vote to join Wales then?

  • I thought i'd never see it. i did . I remember watching this thinking "please dont make us the only country in europe without a parliment...... yes yes yes yes yes!

    YES

    Aled

  • We'll get a YES vote in March. A small step along the long road to independence...

    CYMRU RYDD

  • look at thise traitors in the no camp....in my area many people voted no as they wanted independence LOL

  • @knightvox dont believe the lies.....still some decent welsh speaking communities in the east of wales fel rhosllannerchrugog

  • I'll be voting YES on 3/3/11. CYMRU AM BYTH!!!

  • its interesting how this was won by the yeses by the skin of their teeth, but now more and more people in wales are interested in governing themselves (now that the english tories are disproportionately attacking the smaller nations); yes for 2011!

    CYRMU AM BYTH!

  • cheers friend......of course if we win the next planned referendum............thats exactley what we'll be able to do........

  • twaddle??? hahaha

  • fair point about pembrokeshire though.

  • @trystanxcynan ,by the way -yes theres a number of of settlers from liverpool etc settling there but most of liverpool is made up of welsh and irish settlers in the first place! and by your measure of nationality london would have to be taken away from england because because its a melting pot, manchester and liverpool would have to be given back to its irish and welsh settlers and carlisle needs to be given back to scotland.my point is that you are simplistic and naiive.

  • it's not about being anti-english at all, it's just that that these areas are greater severnside/merseyside in all but name. welsh-born people are the minority in these areas.

their economies are strongly linked to liverpool, manchester and bristol. what is the point in them being ruled by a welsh government?

that's not to say that there's not great divides between the gwynedd, west wales and valleys identities but at least these are rooted within welshness. the outcome speaks for itself.

  • @trystanxcynan nice try agent provocoteur bnp man

  • looking at the map it just makes me think that we should get rid of the north-east and monmouthshire. the welsh identity isn't very strong there.

everybody knows that cuturally the majority of people in those areas are english. the language is english, the accents are english, they vote along the same lines as england. it's time we allowed england to claim these regions and concentrated on 'y fro gymraeg' and 'welsh wales' in order to make wales a stronger and more cohesive nation.

  • @trystanxcynan thats an idiotic and naive argument, have u actually taken a democratic vote to substantiate your points? i think your being insulting and patronising to the people of north east wales to generilise like that-im sure theres a varied and broad range of opiniosn there same as everywhere-citizens of wales dont have to walk around waving a welsh flag and munching leeks to prove their nationality and allegiance

  • one of the greatest and most importnat moments in the history of the welsh nation!!!
