@TheHumbleKay The Clash were from London, England and were one of the big punk bands. Punk Rock doesn't really have a formula, except Short, Fast and Loud. The Ramones (US) the Saints (Australia) and of course the Sex Pistols (UK) are 3 excellent starting points.
