I agre with piplup477. Im a fan of both but Megadeth has shown skills in speed and even slow type songs. They have many talented musicians and they even wrote one of THE most important metal songs of all time (Peace Sells).

Now, Slayer are without a doubt very influential in different genres of music. Dave Lombardo is a talented drummer and Tom Araya is one of the best metal singers. Their solos sound like random notes with a wah. Both guitarists depend a lot on palm muted triplets whether they be open e or any other note. The bass is barely audible in many songs and the drum beats are the same in many song. Yes they have a FEW good albums but they have more mediocre albums.

World Painted Blood was a good album and I was surprised by Playing With Dolls because the vocals were clean and it started out slow before it went to the usual alternative picked palm muted triplets and random notes with wah that they call solos.

They are more influencial than slayer. kerry king is extremly over rated and a shit talker. and just gallops. Slayer just changes the tuning and gallops on the E string to make it sound different. And kerry King goes over board with the wah. overall he sucks

they are way more influencial dave mustaine made thrash metal. He was in metallica remeber he made 8 out of the 10 original songs in kill em all. dave made slayer who they are today and a good metal band doesn't just doesn't play fast. they need to balance fast and softness. speed isn't everything thats wat kerry king and hannemen need to learn lombardo is great but wat about the rest of the band (not including vocals). I wanna see them make a slower song like fade to black or tout le monde

The unison head-banging is a classic; I saw Slayer in 1982 at ther Kabuki Theater in San Francisco, they opened for Metallica. They only played for 30 minutes and they seemed pissed off. Probably because Metallica was show-boating them that night. They shreaded goat's blood anyway. Old School Slayer!
