    What the fuck.

  • Heard this song for the first time the night I lost the love of my life.....Damn good song!!!

  • Absolutely Awsome! I have endorsed this song for many years! Other then lindsay Buckinghams stuff this is tops!If youre into great purism...there are 2 choices...lindsay and eric woot!

  • pure, and simple. This is ..trully why, clapton GOD

  • 06:05 onwards - speechless!!

  • I meant to add that my favorite version of this is on the ericclapton channel..its 7:49 of him OWNING this song..amazing

  • I've found several videos on youtube of Clapton doing this song and they all make me cry..Slowhand forever....he's the master

  • oh, I just love eric, he´s my god

  • Also know as feeling!!!!

    This is feeling!!!

    Fantastic song

    Greetings from Brazil!!!

    Thanks Eric!!!

  • I watch/play most of EC's video's on here and love everyone of them. BUT, I keep coming back time and again to "River of tears". There are probably song's by other people that would do the same, if I heard them, but,

this song just really get's to me. Maybe it always will, I seem to have alot of company!!

  • 他們在享受音樂而不是在表演(6:13)(7:07)

They are enjoying the music, not the performance(6:13)(7:07)

    或者說本作品的感染程度連表演者自身都難以抵抗

or rather the level of influence from this work, is irresistable to the performers themselves.

  • Wanna know why Clapton will always be one of the world's absolute greatest musicians? Check out 0:00-9:00!

  • Ride across ...

  • Ok so I'm posting again...ya'll need to know this stuff!

The Eric Clapton w/ Chuck Leavelle Unplugged song is called "Alberta" (posted by lucian777lucian).

  • Last comment I promise!

I had to put some focus on the drummer. During this whole concert the band never stopped playing (never took a break)

This guy has to be at least 60 years old...he never misses a beat even when he's drenched in sweat towards the end of the concert.

  • Friend, you are absolutely right to give out to the drummer. You probably know that it is Steve Gadd. You're also right about his age, he is 63. Those in the know reckon he's right up there with the best of them. Lucky us I say.

  • This is off the "One More Car, One More rider" album.

I have this on DVD and CD, it's that good!!...the whole concert is awesome, a must see for any music fan. I also discovered Billy Preston by watching this (the one that sings, Will It Go Round In Circrles)...I also love blues piano and organ.

Another recommended listen is Eric Clapton Unplugged...he plays with Chuck Leavelle a great blues pianist...who has a fking AWESOME solo!!!

  • Lay back and close your eyes, then listen to this song again...

  • Clapton is a legend.

  • Nobody Knows when you're down and out

After Midnight, Hey Hey, Motherless Child, Bell Bottom Blues, Layla, Badge, Crossroads, Let it Grow, Bad Love, Breaking Point, Broken Hearted, Back Home, Anything for your Love, Tears in Heaven, Lonely Stranger....

That's all off the top of my head. I tried to keep out covers and remakes. If that were the case, than elshaub is right; there are thousands. And they're all great.

Oh, by the way, look up 24 nights running on faith. The BEST version ever!

  • clapton will always be the greatest in my eyes....

  • first, i'd appreciate if someone could help me with the guitar effect which clapton uses in this song second, to the guy who asked for clapton's best bellads: this one my father's eyes circus (unplugged version) old love (studio version sucks, listen to 24 nights version) running on faith wonderful tonight give me strenght please be with me like a prisioner pfff could name 1000 more every frase eric plays on his guitar is a mixture of pasion, anger, love, life...
  • No effects...just guitar with a built in midrange gain boost and a '59 Bassman amp...and, of course...his fingers.

  • Sorry to be maudlin but my dad passed away 13 years ago(though in some ways it seems like yesterday) & to me, this has always been such an expressive song so I'm glad I found this post tonight.

norcalnerd08, I totally appreciate your comment - you're right, this song says so much.

Thanks for this judasbmx, it means a lot.

    xx

  • this is to everyone:

What are your top Eric Clapton ballad songs?

  • Jesus H. Christ! Nine minutes of absolute brilliance. Goose bumps on goose bumps. Pure quality from all six!!

  • Clássico total !!!

  • i think the reptile tour was better.

  • I'm speechless! Clapton is God!

  • He has the ability to make a song , that sounds blues & soul but may not be regarded as either..maybe soul-ful blues would be the best decription. The studio version where he sings "i wish i could hold you, one more time to ease the pain"..is a about authentic soul-ful singing you will ever hear. Nothing on the radio can top the heart soul & real emotion of this song and many that he does.

  • Sooooo beautyfull!!!!!!!!

  • So sad.

  • I was listening to River of Tears when I got the phone call that my father had passed away. As if this gorgeous song weren't sad enough on its own, I have that memory attached to it. I cry every time I hear it. I think this is the most poignant, soulful song Clapton, or any other artist, has EVER written. So much beauty can come from pain and this song is evidence of that.

  • absolutely, i can't think of any song that's more moving than this masterpiece!

  • This is about one of my most favorite songs in the world..thank you for sharing..

  • Wow! Sublime song + superlative performance by Eric, Preston & Gadd makes a literal "River of Tears" on my face. But I never watch this in public - who wants to see a middle-aged guy crying into his iPod? Thanks for posting judasbmx.

  • All I can say is Perfect.

  • A great moment in music!!! Amazing!

  • This is the best version! with the late great Billy Preston!!!!!!

  • best song ever to my one and only irena

  • Such a beautiful song.

  • Love when he yells at 5:34. Such soul.

    I can feel it.

  • Brother you said it,

    Thank u Sir Eric

  • This song makes me cry and I am a grown man, married, and with kids lol. I can feel his pain whne he plays this, and it reminds me of some past loves.

  • the one where rachel and ross have a baby

  • only the music can make u cry

  • great song,, playing from the heart!!

  • Damn Great drumming also

  • me compre el dvd one more car one more rider hace 5 minutos.. es maravilloso

  • oh man

i didnt know the slow hand could play guitar that fast

  • those rolls by steve gadd, omg! so musical.

  • As the man said deff the dogs bollocks! superb! probably the best gathering of musicians on a stage ever.

  • my absolute favorite version of the song, this is really one of his best

  • Gadd...OMG!

  • Gadd is awesome

  • THE dogs danglies!

  • The absolute best. After reading "Clapton" and hearing this rendition i wish "i could hold you one more time to ease the pain".

  • This song is the best and the worst.. Reminds me of my dead daddy, best song ever..

  • this is the best version ever thanks for posting it

  • Definitely one of my all time favorites, especially this live rendition.

  • one of the best songs i ever heard

  • I know I'm going to get nailed for this...but this song has a feel of Floyd...Okay slap me!!!!

  • One of the most important song of my life.

  • id have to agree with you on that my friend

  • Not only EC, but the combination of fine, fine musicians are making this song one of his best...steven gadd is absolutely unbelieveable here, and that beautiful grinding organsolo by the late billy preston...by far his best band ever (expect for maybe the cream...)

  • it's one of the most moving songs ever and definitely my favourite of clapton's it's a masterpiece

  • i love this DVD i watch it all the time

  • anyone know what pedals he uses in this song?

  • I'd say maybe a ts 80 tube screamer.

  • i will always love this song...

  • Well, I guess I must go out now and buy the "one More Rider" DVD now. Amazing song!!

  • can love really be so intense?

  • Yes.

  • yes, I know it is with my wife and I

  • 6:40 is immaculate

clapton became one of my favorites upon hearing this song in this version, dam, that strat must be worth a fortune after being used at this song.. XO

  • He sold in an auction for charity for almost half a million dollars. :P

  • EC sold the Crash graffiti strat that he played at the first Crossroads Guitar Festival in the 2004 auction, not the one he's playing in this video. However, on the 2006-07 tour, his primary guitar was a dark gray strat.

  • favorite clapton song by far.

  • god damn!i'm fucking go trance!

  • Clapton's brain is hardwired from his soul to his guitar. What is now amazing is what he has done with his voice...the same maturity from raw talent to godliness. Clapton is God.

  • I agree. There are people that learn to play the guitar, and there are people, like clapton, that study the it. He really has "hardwired his soul to his guitar."

  • My god if you put the energy steve gadd (drums) put into that performance you could power a small city for a year.

  • ben de rating verdim az önce. nerden baksan bi Müslüm Baba tadı var :P acıtıyor ama batmıyor..

  • bu sarkiya habire girip girip ben rating veriyorm galiba =)

  • the one where rachel and ross have a baby..

  • Clapton is the best, wonderfoul ...

  • Clapton is the Best, Wonderfoul ...

  • sheer amazing

  • Clapton is probably one of the best examples on how a guitarist should rely on melody, not speed or how loud. This song is one of my faves :)

  • my thoughts exactly

  • that was a sick keyboard solo.. you could feel the soul put into this song

  • dude, that solo sent shivers up and down my spine. THAT is what a solo is supposed to be, pure raw emotion where you say'fuck theory, fuck note targeting, fuck the crowd, fuck it all...and watch me fly!'

  • Eric Clapton FOREVER!

  • WOW! Probably the best example of a well meshed road band - Steve Gadd, Billy Preston, Eric Clapton. Simply spectacular performances by all three, who were all over 60 when this was recorded in LA. Amazing!

  • I agree on the performances but, just for accuracy, Eric Clapton, Steve Gadd and Billy Preston were all a bit under 60 in 2001. Clapton was 56 here.

  • This version is where it's at dudes, where it's at....

  • Superb guitar playing on this version. Good stuff.

  • clapton on the 30th of janurary in sydney cant wait

  • Clapton is God.

  • AMAZING!!!!

    best version eeevvvveeerrrrrrr

  • i agree, this is a versio sam cooke would be proud of.
