  • Great classic hit, that will always stand the test of "time"! No more Kodacrome or Kodak cameras, done in by Japanese technology what a shame ! For point & shoot Cannon rocks, for the pro go with Nikon ...

  • Coneheads...lol

  • So sad this film is dead...

  • Wow, only 360 resolution and such incredibly vivid and crisp pictures.

  • My favorite song. Anytime I am feeling down or working on one of the comps and am frustrated, I crank this song. Makes me feel better.

  • I just learned that I'm really bad at counting.

  • "Thumbs up" if you have no idea what the fuck he's talking about...

  • CONEHEADS!!!!!!

  • 7 people didnt learn crap in highschool

  • LOL Utah's Kodachrome Sate Park is actually near a small town called Cannonville LOL! Another photography reference? LOL I doubt it but still kind of cool! Kodachrome's mailing address is actually in Cannonville, Utah.

  • This song reminds me of Utah's amazing Kodachrome State park. I'm so lucky to live only about 2 hours from it. It is amazing, "it gives those nice, bright colors, gives us the greens of summers, makes you think all the world's a sunny day.." Describes the park perfectly in my opinion :)

And yes, it was named after the film, after a photographer photographed it using Kodachrome film back in the 50s or 60s something. Awesome!!!

  • 21 people didnt learned crap in highschool

  • the cone heads

  • i feel like this song should be in dazed and confused...idk y

  • This video inspired me to get into photography again..!

... Now I'm about $3000 poorer, with much more to go. Thanks! :)

  • @jruddock this video inspired me to smoke crack and keep listening & watching it over and over. Now i'm a crackhead. Thanks : D

  • @529376100 Awesome! Perhaps we should get together. I can create a photographic documentary of your downhill progression and create my own video. Wonder what song it would go best with?

  • ya know kodak just bout sued em for this,..... dont worry tho, Scorcese got even (thanx Martin !) And should any of you care enough, make the time to go see the large format Kodachromes of Edward Weston, when displayed properly backlit they are the best window to the past Ive ever seen

  • @peterthethinker your film photos didn't pop off the page if your digital one don't. just saying...

  • It's really weird. This song makes me think of high school, my time in the Boy Scouts, Catcher in the Rye, and On the Road. Really makes me feel good. It inspires me. Makes me want to go out and travel this country, taking photos the whole time.

  • I sure do love my old Nikon F and my fm and my D200 with I had more non Ai and Ai lens for my F and my FM

  • You're a great photographer, where Sis you go?

  • Kodachrome must have been the gold standard back in it's day to have had a major artist base a whole song on it?

  • classic song, one of those beautiful day easy listening songs

  • Dear Kodak,

I promise to shoot kodachrome for the rest of my life if you bring back kodrachome and at least on k-lab back!

  • Well Done ! It brought back memories of high school with the girl shots and the oranges... I see the brain of a high school male (nerd) hasn't changed. The best part is that all the football players were pumping gas after high school while I went into high tech :-) Revenge of the nerds at it's best. Have Fun All !!!

  • nice job! i have a 35mm nikon (film) and shoot only in b&w, but some of your (beautiful) shots here, have inspired me to maybe shoot color as well! (however, too bad kodachrome is no longer available!)

  • Loved the slide show-the Orange Halves showed up purrfectly-(OTF)--'sweet remagination'---{oh yeah. I had a Konica}. lololol XD

  • I can't find anyone to calibrate my Canon EX EE SLR in this digital age : (

  • no song for Ektachrome?

  • @blue39503 lol, funny!

  • 0:57 this picture gave me hope in my life

  • @bundeligafan Oh good, glad I was able to help you out!

  • @bundeligafan - struck me the same way.

  • @bundeligafan oh dang dude, don't worry dude, you'll get laid someday lol

  • @bundeligafan it does happen, i can attest to that.

  • Loooove this song! And Love my Nikon!!

  • Good pics!

  • Lyrics more sapient than any of us realize. Kodachrome means a lot more than just a type of camera film, that much is sure. It was the beginning and end of an era, like the golden age of Hollywood, something lost and never, ever to be re-found. Our entire perspective has changed, and our memories, tied to those photographs, has changed as well. Not for the better , I fear.

  • wow... that picture at 2:14 is absolutely beautiful... there has never been a picture of trees that got to me as much as that one. lots of thanks to you sir!

  • Great song from my high school days!! :)

  • 1:34

  • Fantastic shots...thanks!

  • R.I.P

  • boy I miss Kodachrome, there was nothing like loading a camera with a new roll and getting them back later on.

  • @herbienbrian2 I missed flim so much I started using my Nikon FM and just picked up a F.

  • Coneheads:)

  • Awesome song! Great pics.. slide show done very well.

  • RIP kodakchrome 25 and 64 1937-2010

  • . . . . sunny day, oooooooooo yeh . . .!!!

  • I love kodachrome! black and white pictures are too emotionally and sad

  • 19 people had their Kodachromes taken away.

  • @RowBadMovies

    20 :'-(

  • everything looks worse in black and white.

Got 4 rolls coming back from Dwayne's, which ironically enough, were shot on a Nikkormat FTN with lots of Nikkor glass.

  • My daughter uses a Canon and I use Nikon. I've passed on to her what I was told many years ago by my German instructor: Stars don't make a General and a camera does not make a photographer ;-}

  • @theDeitz I totally agree, great comment, Happy New Year!

  • @theDeitz I totally agree, great comment, Happy New Year!

  • @theDeitz

I dig it.... and Bless you.... I come from a good family as well...Irish, though... -:)

  • @theDeitz so, so true

  • @theDeitz That's a nice saying. I am going to steal that.

  • @theDeitz your right, i took my best kids photos on simple phone camercas, yet the parents loved them and paid me well for each shot.

  • @nannynicky4life .. Yep, I got some good shots with my smart phone when my Nikon D80 on auto let me down ... lol ..

  • HELP ! How does one get permission to use this song? I used it in one of my youtube videos and youtube took the music off due to copyright issues :(

  • i like the quality of the pictures, they got some kind of "felling"

  • Thank you for posting this tribute to the most iconic films ever produced!

  • I don;t know how many miles of Kodachrome went through my cameras until I turned Professional. Then I used Ektachrome or Ektacolor depending if the client wanted prints or transparencies. I had a colour processing machine for 35mm up to 10" x 8". I had Hasselblads, Canon and a Sinar Studio Camera with 4x5, 5x7 and 10x8 inch backs

The only problem with Kodachrome was having to send it to Kodak for processing. One Lab in Australia..

  • God I LOVE the internet!!!

  • This is a much more complicated operation (the original K-11 Process required 28 different steps) than processing color films in which color dyes are already within each of the emulsion layers. But, the Kodachrome approach provides far greater color stability & this is also why Kodachrome is suited so well to archiving, providing a stable format maintaining it's integrity for 50+ years.

  • Having worked in a film processing lab I learned that Kodachrome is Kodachrome is basically a black-and-white film with three light sensitive layers, each of which is "filtered" to record magenta, cyan, or yellow "light". During film processing, the correct color dyes are introduced into the respective layers to produce the full-color positive image.

  • Awwww...just a few days until the End of Kodachrome. I will miss you! Have some amazing photos & slides....

  • I so miss Kodachrome!! I wish so much that they would bring it back...

  • Thumbs up if you've sent your last rolls of Kodachrome to Dwayne's (the only existing Kodachrome processor) by the last day of development, December 30

  • @cmorris3279 Sent via 2 day air. Should make the deadline with one day to spare :-). Will miss this film.

  • Kodachrome makes most digital images look flat and fake. No matter how much you manipulate them, K just brought another dimension and drama to the photo.

Magazine pictures today are not the same, that quality film brought to the table especially Kodachrome is clearly lacking.

  • I got a Nikon camera too... a D5000 some months ago! hurray!

  • Nice photos,

    thanks,

    Keep up the photography!

  • oh my god... joy! ive been looking for this song for so long

  • Great vid! The part at :25 looks like Chopticon High School which is in Southern Maryland, was it by any chance?

  • random question, for the camera afficianatos out there do digital camera images yet match films quality in true color representation, etc.

  • @andyt1313here are a few purists left out there who would say "no" however, there are many different ways to use and set a digital camera. Digital has clearly matched and exceeded the resolution capabilities of 35mm film, and I deeply appreciate the experiment freedom that digital unleashes. But I cannot imagine digital ever capturing the tones of a large well exposed B&W negative. but there are few given to that discipline.

  • @Kirkwood2020 Perhaps too few try, but I have not seen any images from a digital that are the same as a Kodachrome image. I believe you that 35mm resolution may be achieved in the best of digital cameras, but again I have not seen any with the resolution of K25 from a good tripod.

  • @Kirkwood2020 I'm just getting into 4x5 myself! Yay!

  • @Kirkwood2020 I'm just getting into 4x5 myself! Yay!

  • ... Thanks!!!

  • @time2act1001 You are very welcome!

  • These pics look much like it was taken by the camera Leica M9. I don't know. Just a guess.

  • @kodachromefilm hey that's pretty funny!

  • @YesMan46 I lower my head in horrible shame.

  • @kodachromefilm they were not, I'll guarantee you that :D

  • DAMN... WATCHED UR VID ANOTHER 4TIMES.... LMAO.... NIIICE!!!

  • This song is one of the reasons I shoot Nikon and thank you for doing it.

Your photographs are lovely but I knew Kodachrome and sir, these are not Kodachrome.

No more Kodachrome. My sadness is deep.

  • @thedogwrangler glad you like the video, but I never claimed the photos are from Kodachrome slides, the video was made while Kodachrome was still available.

I'm pretty sure Paul Simon used the word "Kodachrome" because it fit the song nicely. In my opinion the song plays tribute to the general love for photography no matter what film was used.

  • Momma didn't take your Kodachrome away. Beautiful.

  • @suzyduvall

    Thanks!

  • WOW... I have watch ur rendition of this song TOOOOO many times. U R A true videographer!!!! love the song, love ur pics... PEACE

  • @baduhe1

Thanks, glad you like it, for more samples of my photography just Google andykazie

  • This is one of those songs that will always just make you happy.

  • muscle shoals baby!!

  • This song was used in the movie Coneheads!

  • Awesome song!

  • Thanks for putting this up. I love this song. :)

  • great tune.

  • this is just a feel good song

  • Beautiful photos! Nice timing with the classic tune. Thanks for a great video.

  • This was really good. I enjoyed this. Very creative. Keep up the great work. Most talented.

  • great song

  • I LOVE my Nikon! & I Love this song!!!!

  • i love feel good songs

  • coneheads!!

  • Felicitaciones! Great song, great video!

    Greets from South America

  • brilliant! in a generation or two will people even know what "kodachrome" is?

  • This gave me goosebumps, wow

  • That was good. Keep up the good work. Best

  • Taking pics is fun but if I had to choose I rather see life through my own peeps. I love the song, it's very moving and it brings you back. The words have meaning unlike other songs. When they invent a point and shoot camera, part computer part camera, maybe I will buy one. They are to darn complicated and none of my pics ever came out nice. I was always disapointed :(

  • Is it possible that YesMan is also a fellow 'FootMan' @ 1:44? Or just skirts? Either way.... good job on all. P.S. Anyone ever try to play the guitar riffs on Kodachrome - better inject your fingers with uppers or truckers bennies!!!!!!!!

  • this song with the montage in coneheads is awesome.. haha

  • 1.33 dat ass.

  • I always liked Fuji Velvia better. Way more punch than Kodachrome. Even Kodak Ektachrome had more vivid colors.

  • Simon is Simon!!!! What else!!!!

  • great song :)

  • Nice comment, thanks for being so observant, yes this is one of my earliest Youtube videos when Youtube was a brand new site. I always loved the song and photography, didn't matter if it was Kodachrome, Nikons, negatives, Fuji, darkroom or photoshop, it's all photography and great music to me!

  • @YesMan46 I'm with you on that one!!!

  • @WitchyWonder Thanks WitchyWonder!

  • The irony is that everyone thinks that this is a tribute to Kodachrome film when it was posted YEARS before Kodak announce it was not going to be producing Kodachrome film anymore.

  • Paul Simon can do no wrong. An American icon.

  • how can u vote negatively against this video?

  • Love this song. As a kid would sing it all the time.

  • My humble update: When I think back to all the crap I learned in grad school Its a wonder I can think at all And cause my excess education Hasnt helped me none I'm only left with writing on the wall ApplePhone Give us the nice bright colors Give us the rings of lovers Make us feel the wide wide worlds a single touch away I got Apple iPhone I love to surf the web all night Big Brother dont take my iPhone away
  • ok... 99 cent hot doggies?! this IS an outrage! why kodak has to go bankrupt on poor administrations..... this is a revolution in the age of image like back then... why does one of the pioneers must go straight line? shame... :(

  • @springloadedchicken: Blame Kodak itself, for being a crappy business. That's how it is.

  • I love this song its a personal favorite. My son was just introduced to Simon and Garfunkle and this video was perfect for the song. I loved it. My son will too.

    Another Generation.

  • 0:26 Hey thats the goal post John Bender walked under.

  • Whos da bitch in the red outfit? Real hot

  • Very well done!

  • Great pictures man, those are amazingly done.

  • a century old Kodachrome, naturally. Good song, good song. Tell the prick with the film up his ass to man up and learn how to use photoshop.

  • YesMan46: Just out of curiosity, what camera do you use and what do you suggest if someone is out to buy a new camera?

  • @kodachromefilm A Leica M9. Of course you will have to take out a 2nd mortgage.

  • Let me set you straight, first of all "Kodachrome" has always been one of my favorite songs and I had always thought of it as my theme song because of my love of photography since the early 1970's. I posted this video when youtube was new , almost 4 years ago and long before Kodak stopped producing Kodachrome film which in fact I have used often over the 35 years of my photographic experience and I also scan them in super quality and colors to bring them into the digital age.

  • MMM ORANGES...FUNNY!

  • FILM is for real Photography :D

  • Real photography is anything you create photographically, from pin-hole to astro photography, from dark room to Photoshop and I've done it all!

  • @YesMan46: I gotta agree withct9204. Real photography uses film. Photoshop is NOT photography.

  • i got a Nikkon camera, i love to take a photograph...dont take my (Kodak) Kodrakrome away!

  • So... were any of these photos shot on the film of the title song? Esp. if you claim to be using a Canon Powershot?

  • It's not the film, not the camera, it's the composition and the music...

  • Mama don't take away my digital

  • fucking ads. fuck cheer.

  • @kokothemonkeyy: why do you hate white whites when doing laundry? Do you want dingy socks?
