Vai's transition at 4:46 is just pure pwnage!! But Joe has more soul than any of the others....pure and simple. You can tell that Malmsteen certainly forced Joe to bring his A game. I really love M's little fills during this performance but in his solos it is obvious that M has trouble having any soulful melody in his playing. I know M can play melodically when the situation really calls for it, but here it is basically linear harmonic minor wankage which isn't really music but practice.
At this level of talent it comes down to what style you prefer. Personally I prefer Vai because he is more about the music then just shredding...after awhile shredding gets a little tired. Vie and Joe keep it balanced. Malmsteen though great..shreds just for the sake of Shredding.
Malmsteen is good, no doubt. But to always show off throughout d whole song,it makes him look like he's trying too hard. He's d best n he knows it.dats d problem
Malmsteen is the fastest shredder of all n it sounds great. Having said that, he looks like he's trying to show who's best where as joe n steve r like enjoying the jam.
And i just think that at around 6:12 Yngwie did something that Steve liked or Yngwie was a bit behind in the timing so he had to keep up fast so Steve doesn't lose to much time at his moment.. Steve can't play he's part until Yngwie is done with his like they practiced/planed the song before. They have their individual parts and same parts.
annolenno If you haven't notice.. Yngwie's playing is just a one big solo through the whole song.. Otherwise Steve and Joe does solos while Yngwie fill in with his non stop playing in the background and step forward a few times when he likes to.. Joe shows great skill, Steve shares he's feeling of music and Yngwie brings madness.. Let others play music and Yngwie how far the limit of guitarplaying goes. End of story.
6:12 it the time for Steve Vai to solo. But Malmsteen just keep playing. Steve is looking at Joe Satriani and he is like: What the fuck is he doing. Steve is like: I don't know but, ok. Malmsteen stops and Vai starts playing. He ownz Malmsteen. Its Satriani's turn to solo. He ownz Malmsteen too. Malmsteen is like: Damn.. i gotta show off more.
@annolenno You have no fucking idea what you're talking about,Satriani was like...oh god damn man, look at that. Also, Malmsteen fucking ruled their worlds at that g3 ,if you say otherwise you may have absolutely no knowledge of guitar and or music
@RogTheLefty Yeah Satriani has never seen shredding before lol! You must be watching a different video. The one dimensional Yngwie is obviously in awe of the amazing Satriani and Vai. Of course when I was your age I was easily impressed also.
Isn't it lovely how Satch, when Yngwie is finnished with his super-ultra-mega fast shred and Vai is finnished with his avant-garde mysticism, just fires a funky lick, groovin' in the pentatonic for a while? :)
Man, Steve was amazing in this, I mean all of them are outstanding players but Steve's improvisation just blew me away! Sounded so melodic, so original, so vaiish :)
you know, speed and technicality are all nice and fun, but when you really listen to Joe's sound, you can't help but be moved. He will always be the best in my book... however, I do love vai and yngwei, i just think that Satriani is better. he has both speed and technicality in moderation, and a ton of great tone. but overall, ITS AMAZING!!!!!!!
@shortytheopposite101 i totally agree! satriani just has such an nice tone and techniques! the problem i get with other guitarists is that they get a bit boring and sound a bit the same too me and satch never does that
one of the best versions ... all 3 perform killer solos : all your classic Malmsteenstuff but incredible well placed, Vai surprised me with an incredibly cool solo and Satch ... in the midst of all high-tech shred he starts with "the blues" ...
I love how during the ending of the song, while Yngwie is doing whatever it is he is doing, and Satch and Vai are soloing together, Vai looks to see where the hell Yngwie is...
yngwie isnt a bad guitarist at all... but he is a guy with no fantasy in these kind of moments.. when you listen to vai and satriani.... the music is so rich and beatiful .... but when malmsteen starts.... its the same and the same again... and again.... and again.. nothing new... ofcourse as i said before i dont want to understand me wrong.. he is one of the best guitarist and musicians in the world.. but his place isnt here... may be david gilmour will be a fine replacement for him....

jokes apart the solo he played at 3:55 was really a good one..!!
Yngwie maalmsteen is a better dancer than guitarist..!! and he has poroved it quite well in this performance..In this rate he will sure beat SHAKIRA very soon..!!
yngwie has the best stage act among the three...while vai looks like no less than a gay here..satch looks like the boy next door...and yngwie looks like a rocker here...jumping on stage with burning guitars, thats what yngwie does..talking about depth..satch is amazing...vai's some pieces are brilliant, while others are over exaggeration in the name of creativity...have you heard yngwie's brothers? rising force album? marching out?...yngwie is equivalent to both satch n vai, in depth
@molywaki Vai makes fun of everyone... Playing godlike, is like havin a coffee, or reading a newspaper for him.. Yngwie sweats in order to confirm his existence among the 2 others.. It's a lesson he needed, in order to stop being cocky.. he is half of Steve's one penishair...
I love all these guys. But you gotta give it to malmsteen - he just goes out and does his thing. A lot of people say he's taking the spotlight, i don't think thats the case. He is an entertainer, and shred is his thing for christsake.

@molywaki #4 is quite legitimate. My friend's band opened for him when he was in America a while back. They never want to open for him again. Apparently he is under the impression that he is God's gift to the world (of music at least).
4:30 was always my favourite...it's like yngwie was shooting thousands of bullets and then vai came with those slower notes and dropped massive bombs. i love both BTW
To me, Satriani is by far the best player out of the three in terms of musicianship. I don't really listen to much shred (more of a blues-rock man), but I still enjoy Satch's music. He's able to play at super-sonic speeds but still make it sound ballsy and rockin'! :D
like it like pearl jams version joe and steve and yngwie 3 guitarists with different playing styles together they are awesome, okay yngwie does go overboard with the shredding but then again he is the king of shred and i like his style, would have loved to have been there to see them live
sugeti pula ca malmsteen ii cel mai tare. satrivai astia nu stiu nimic afar de aliene, tehnica si grozavia de a distra lumea prin a arata ca esti mai tare (entertaining lol) . lord of the strings ! malmsteen cel mai tare. are coaiele de 1000 de ori mai mari ca ale lui satrivai astia. tot guitz guitz la ibanezu ala..degeaba!fender-malmsteen yeah! is buni,da nu au momitze asa mari!! pusy :) yea! suck it!
each of these players are so incredible and each have their own unique sound. I can close my eyes and still know who is playing during the solos. Amazing.
@juamposo Lmao, I thought he was alright in this song, but in Little Wing it was a bit overwhelming. Good player but the same stuff over and over again. Gimme the groove of Satch or the streaming creativity of Vai.
Malmsteens intro is gracefull,as is Vai and Satriani's. I love the Malmsteen haters. They are so musicaly retarded , they keep any true musician laughing. Put the video game controllers down girls and actualy practice a scale.Try using more than two fingers to play. Now turn down the Blink 182 CD and start practicing! LOL BWAHAHAHAHA Keep us entertained assclowns!
satch and vai just play amazing together, they make the song so much better then you get that fat cunt yngwie, all he can do is play fast, it looks impressive but constantly fast is just boring,
Though Yngiwe outplayed - as in overplaying - Vai and Satch, I think they got him back indirectly. Haha. Look at the beginning of the DVD. First it shows Vai and Stach, respectively: great pictures. Then it shows Yngwie: Orca! Look at it.

Yngwie's constant shredding is incredibly redundant after a while. It just doesn't fit in!

People have different opinions to me, and that's ok.

Why Malmsteen is shredding all the time even in the slow parts? ...

like it like pearl jams version joe and steve and yngwie 3 guitarists with different playing styles together they are awesome, okay yngwie does go overboard with the shredding but then again he is the king of shred and i like his style, would have loved to have been there to see them live

each of these players are so incredible and each have their own unique sound. I can close my eyes and still know who is playing during the solos. Amazing.

Please. somebody to plug out Malmsteen's guitar!
juamposo 6 months ago
@juamposo Lmao, I thought he was alright in this song, but in Little Wing it was a bit overwhelming. Good player but the same stuff over and over again. Gimme the groove of Satch or the streaming creativity of Vai.
PhilosopherOnWeed 6 months ago
@juamposo jajaja yes, his playing isqute annoying, with respect i dont like his style

Seems like it's "cool" to bash Yngwie here.... You people don't know shit. He's the best player in this G3 :)

@kranen1 Yea, and U'R dumb, so what ?
Muljika 6 months ago
@Muljika Nah, you are :) Explain why you think im dumb? Because I say Malmsteen is a great player? It's dumb to think otherwise.

Vai tries to start his turn to solo, but Yngwie just can't see that
6:16
Vai looks at Satch and they both just think "meh, it's Malmsteen, we should've seen this coming long before" ROFL

satch and vai just play amazing together, they make the song so much better then you get that fat cunt yngwie, all he can do is play fast, it looks impressive but constantly fast is just boring,
SCOTTnJAMES14 6 months ago
Though Yngiwe outplayed - as in overplaying - Vai and Satch, I think they got him back indirectly. Haha. Look at the beginning of the DVD. First it shows Vai and Stach, respectively: great pictures. Then it shows Yngwie: Orca! Look at it.
