@pitufinayeahyeah Hi! Actually I can say you that every source changes facts, so many infos are confused... some say it can jump 6 meters long, others 10, others even 18! In high I read it can jump until 5 meters, but somewhere I read 7 meters.
Same story about the speed... some say 56 km/h, others 65 km/h, some 90 km/h and others even 100 km/h! It's a pity there aren't clear informations :(
@cricricricricricri thanks anyway cricricri at least now i know theres no clear information available. I'll stay with this one discovery channel must be trustful :)
@pitufinayeahyeah as far as I know 10m+ in length (max is 15m which both cougar and jaguar are claimed to have reached, but only by an eye-wittness) and height is 6-7m, here the cougar is mammalia champion :P
Mountain Lion is it's technical name. Now are you going to say a Tiger Shark can't be called that because it's not a tiger? So calm the hell down, it's a name for an animal! And to insult a COUNTRY? For the NAME of an animal?
Those aint lions, americans you always try to change things and confuse people, they are cougar, pumas, not lions, there are only species of lions those in africa and gir forest in india,.pumas are tiny cats most they weigh could be 7okilos,lions go to 270kilos,.call the puma or cougar not lions because they aint
Saddly you are somewhat wrong their, a mountain Lion or cougar, or Puma, can weigh up to 120 kg, this is a somewhat rare case but it has been recorded, also the name is that because, they are the "lion" of america sort of speak. and this small cat (around 2-2 1/2 feet at shoulders) isn't something you should look down on. And no one is confused, we all know what a lion from Africa looks like. These are our cats, And if we choose to call them Mountain Lions then we can. Thx.
We call Cougars "Mountain Lions" not because they are lions, it's because they look like female lions and they live in mountains. And they are definitely not tiny. Don't look so down on something so predatorious.
@CougarBloom yes hey slightly look like lionesses not lions, they dont have the the body size of a lion no the mane or roar or ferocity or majesty, but they are big cats almost reaching 80kilos,lionss reach 260 and lioness 160,thats the difference.btn pumas/cougars/panthers and lions
ya fist comment...ive been watching documentarys alot and what i can tell is the cat family is the dominant family....i would like to advice people to watch these kind of documentary's,for animals are something worth knowing about :)
-_- yes of course huinter are so sweet. may be we could hunt them, i'm sure they will be agree with that. i see a lot of photo juste 1 or 2 in really to much for me to handle it the cougar were still alive. so beautifull animal, none the most dangerous. They can me tame.
Love those so interesting animals. there a lot of thing to do, of course man, specialy in america but everywhere as here in france with bears or wolf. think the earth belongs to them.
Besides putting economic strength behind the preservation of wilderness, hunters and outdoorsmen are likely the largest group that actually works to keep cougars alive; a hunting area is much more valuable if it has rare and dangerous species roaming. So makes no sense to me to love cougars but hate hunters.
It does, if you think about it. If a piece of wilderness is protected and reserved for hunting, people come in every now and then and kill animals. If it isn't protected, then the whole darn thing gets paved over and turned into a hotel. All life is destroyed.
Now, of course, it would be the best to just leave the land alone entirely, but I suppose that hunting ground is an acceptable middle-ground.
By the way, I'm not a hunter... I take spiders out of my house in plastic cups. =]
Wow Wargrin, that's actually a really good point. The impact of hunting is laughable in comparison to the death caused by agriculture and development, now that I think about it. Hunting is, as long as it is controlled, is natural. When you just walk into the forest and shoot something, life goes on and nature retains its balance. When you cut it all down and put up a farm or a house, nothing survives. Over-hunting can be disastrous, but over-development is downright apocalyptic.
If you love pumas, then do whatever you can to protect them. Don't just hate hunters. Hatred towards one life will not help the life of another in any way. Love is where it's at. =D
@tenchimaniac Amen to that. We should all live in harmony. There's no reason to kill these beautiful creatures. For food? No. For "show"? Big deal! Let them be...How would you like someone who is out to find you and shoot you and mount your head on their wall!!
Such an amazing animal!

Cougar sex is funny. At 4:41 they need a cigarette. Like humans, the female warms up to the male through his tongue, such as 4:00.
