  • watch never make....

  • You could just make a stand or put it on a table and make a powerpoint of what you want to say then your reading it word by word (wireless mouse needed) then its much much cheaper

  • im sure you can read a sh#@ with that thing

  • its a bit big

  • Indy Mogul did it 100 time better

  • I made a video of my own teleprompter design on my channel, its much smaller, much simpler to build, and most importantly cheaper! Check it out on my channel and thumbs up if you found it useful :)

  • 44 people didnt look like they knew what they're talking about

  • see you next week???

damn 2 years gone and still missing kipkay so much!!

    please come back!!!

  • HOW DID I GET HERE?!

  • best channels on youtube

    -kipkay

    -makemagazine

    -freddiew (including freddiew2)

    -household hacker

    thumbs up if you agree!

  • @stingrrr1 WHERES UBERHAXORNOVA/?!?!

  • how many times did he say feet, fuck sake

  • vury.

  • Isn't better just to run text on your PC and read from the screen?

  • i wonder if he used a teleprompter in this video

  • or you can put a laptop on a stool...

  • i'd bet my ass one of the 626 people who like this video is obama :D

  • the intro music always reminds me of hartbeat (the one with morph)

  • If u have a garage sale please tell me where!

Btw my dad and I really lobe ur videos because their the only ones that are actually useful!

  • you need at last 5 garages to store projects that you made

  • geeze didnt know i was reading the foot book

  • Great weekend project and just what I'm looking for for when I bring my news show back in the fall. Thanks for this.

I've put it in my fav's so I can watch it again while making my own.

  • I thought a vital feature of a teleprompter was that you can see through it from the audience position. If you hang a black drape over it why not just put the monitor where the glass is?

  • @coronet67 I think the whole point of using glass is so the camera can see through it and you position it at eye level and from the camera view it looks like you are looking straight into the lens (the camera doesn't pick up the reflections from the monitor.) I've used one a few times and if you are, as Kip says, doing a long script it makes life so much easier and the whole video looks more professional.

  • @IanDigs At 3:44 he says he added a black cloth that appears to covers the glass. How does the camera see through the glass if it's covered with a black cloth?

  • @coronet67 I see what you mean, actually he should have explained the black cloth goes over and behind the camera and not between the glass and the camera.

  • 39 people thought the title said teleporter! XD

  • I think I should have come here first then built my own telepromter put my own spin on the video and away you go. Just done another one on my own this time. I will put it up shortly someones goto start somewhere.

Thanks For the words of wisdom and I live your video...

    Respect And Share Ideas

    Ian Horner @ibh66

  • чё за хуйня

  • What I would have done is spray painted the monitor base flat black, then put black tape around the frame of the monitor for even fewer reflections.

  • i wonder what he wanted 2 b as a kid lol

  • Or just put a monitor in front of you...

  • u can also make a ghost effect

  • Can't you use mirror?

  • @MrVovan10 then the camera can't se through it... the purpose is for the camera to see you through the glass while you can see the reflection to see the transcript

    O-------\---> (camera) |  |\ | ( ^ reflection)

    (you)

  • @RobbyC738 never mind

    stoopid spaces

  • @MrVovan10 yes you can. But it has to be a one way mirror. Also known as a one sided mirror so the camera can see through it. I got a private tour of one of my local TV stations and the gentleman explained it.

  • or you could just get a cue card and cut a hole for the camera in it

  • I just had a weird deja vu where I remembered that I had a dream about this video. WEIRD

  • OMG you are so hot I want to eat your semen.

  • should use a mask when cutting MDF

  • Great video, thank you :)

  • Dosent the camera catch the script going by it?

  • @SuperZimbob No, the only reason you see it is because of the angle of reflection, if you were where the camera is, all you would see is what's behind the glass. :P

  • @SuperZimbob , on a proper teleprompter, it dosent ive used them before

  • @SuperZimbob the light from the monitor has to bend in the opposite direction and that is even by a very high angle to do that, so no, the camera will not catch it.

  • @SuperZimbob no cause its all reflections

  • it was cool

  • y cant u just read from the monitor not go through all the trouble of making that

  • 'now we are gonna take our 4, 2 foot feet and layer them one 4 foot foot perpendicular to another 4 foot foot'- made me laugh like crazy xD

  • /watch?v=0xBn2HvC564

  • STOP SAYING TO, TWO, TOO

  • 38 ppl are fuckas

  • Speakin of eyes.. Kip's eyes aren't level with each other.

  • how can you read that? why not just put the camera on top of laptop?

  • @sciencething0101 Exactly what i was thinking! xD

  • @sciencething0101 If you record using a laptop webcam, or a webcam attached to a monitor, you can use the reading off screen method, but this is slightly more professional if you are using a separate camera.

  • @thunderhayes

i know thats why you put the good camera on top of the laptop so use good camera and just use laptop a teleprompter

  • @sciencething0101 Unfortunately, if you put the text you are reading below the "eye" of the camera, and are reading it word-for-word, it'll look like you are reading something below the line of the camera.

I've seen too many commercials that have the person reading something below the camera, and you can see their eyes not only looking down, but looking side to side.

  • @thunderhayes if you're far enough away and the font is big enough, it won't be that noticeable.

  • I read teleporter, and I'ma sue you!

  • Lol I thought the title said "DIY Teleporter"

  • @WG15796

    black ops :P

  • @WG15796 same here

  • @WG15796 awww man so did i lmfaooo that suckd bad lmfao i thought it was to

  • @WG15796 that is tommorow

  • @WG15796 me to i was like wtf

  • @WG15796 same thats y i wached it

  • thumbs up for sandwiched pieces of wood

  • what do you do with al the stuff u make?

  • @Mrabram1117 to the side of the monitor..

  • Most pro teleprompters have two way mirror film applied to their glass.

  • ohh shit, i thought that said DIY Teleporter!

  • wat is a teleprompter

  • wonder where kip gets the money and supplies for this stuff

  • @grandtheftkitty See that ad at the right hand side of the video?

  • Why not just use your computer with the teleprompter software?

  • @lilalexbmx because then you look down or up depending on where you have the computer, but like this you look stright too the camera and to the "screen" at the same time

  • @MrAbram1117 I'm saying you turn the monitor facing you and you read off of there.

  • @lilalexbmx and where do u put the camera???

  • kipkay made a fine teleprompter, but its not actualy useful, because if u have the screen bare, u can see better

  • o Kipkay τα σπάει, είναι καταπληκτικός

  • Comment removed

  • Dude your beard is off - center

  • Thanks for sharing. You're the man, dude!

  • lolz i got the same cam as you do :D

  • what kind of glASS DO U USE

  • i thought u had to have special glass to make one, but i guess not

  • where do you get those small glass brackets ?

  • YOU ARE THE BEST!!! THANK'S!

  • go kipkay

  • i was camera man at my school news and we had 2 cameras with that nut it had a merer under the lenz and there was a one way screen so thay dont see what u are reading

  • School? The way you talk it doesn't seem like you've been there.

  • Can't You Just Use The Moniter On The Shelf?

  • @MalcolmsonStudios

The whole point of a teleprompter is so your looking into the camera instead of reading to the sides or under the camera. if you know what i mean.

  • You Could, But That Would Be Lame. Some People Like To Build Things. By The Way, I Suggest You Type Normal From Now On.

  • There's no words on it! Fucking thing SUCKS! We'll do it live!

  • hahaha funny if you actually get where this comes from xD

  • us english foke call that an auto-Que.

  • use mirror :))) it's very cool

  • Silly bladon, cameras can't see through mirrors.

  • @GhostSonic its not a mirror, its just a piece of glass

  • @GhostSonic hahaha nice one

  • @GhostSonic it acctully wasnt a mirror its a peice of glass

  • @GhostSonic it glass

  • @GhostSonic it can if you break the mirror

  • @GhostSonic yes thay do im in bradcastisam and jer class thay have one

  • @GhostSonic he made a cut in the fabric

  • @GhostSonic That's why you use 2 way glass. Mirror on one side, clear on the other.

  • @GhostSonic it's not a mirror,just plain glass...

  • @dusmance123 I was talking to someone on Youtube named blandon, who suggested using a mirror. I keep seeing these replies in my inbox holy crap.

  • @GhostSonic silly bladon cameras can see through glass.

  • u need 2 use half silver mirrors

  • wonder what kips garage looks like?

  • and i'm wonder does anyone press on these fuckin stupid ads ??? FUCK ADS

  • @jame0taha Never

  • @noturpizza you mean hanger right?

    LOL

  • Heaven

  • @noturpizza he should make a video tour of his shop and house

  • @noturpizza watch the smoke ring video

  • @noturpizza probaly cigar box guitar, a TON of batterys, saws and truth wristbands!

  • @noturpizza its a man cave not a garage!!!

  • some extra shit

  • Nice technical directions, but people should keep in mind that it's very hard to use a teleprompter without sounding flat, boring and monotone. As the host of this segment acknowledges, he just talks to the camera. Most people would be well served to follow his example.

  • The point of this thing is that text is drawn out directly in center of the lens.. so u got ur eyes stickin to the text but, therefore ur also looking ant the cam.

  • no then codnt the camera film

  • Isnt it easier just to set up monitor in front of you instead of that glass and all other stuff? -.-

  • because the glass is meant to reflect the text behind the camera lens so that ur eye will be looking at the lens.

if u set the a monitor, under the camera lens for example, ur eyeball will move down to read the text hence the "seems like u r reading".

  • In the matter of fact, reflection is spreads over glass and repeats monitors view, so you should anyways need to read with moving eyeballs or so.

  • no cuz then u would be looking at the monitor and not the camera. Here you can be looking at the camera while reading your script.

  • Wäre es nicht einfacher gleich einen Spiegel zu nemen, oder noch viel einfacher, direkt vom Bildschirm abzulesen? Diesmal finde ich das Weekend Project irgendwie dumm. Sonst ist es Super

  • whats stoping you from reading the screen

  • Your self.

  • Does it have to be real glass or can it be plexiglass?

  • It needs to be able to reflex the words.

  • So then plexiglass isn't reflective enough for it. Damn. Had hopped, since plexiglass is cheaper and easier to cut. haha

  • what is a teleprompter?

  • it's what newscasters use, it's the camera lens with words going across it

  • does anybody notice a difference on HQ when it isn't full screen?

  • not this or other makezines, but other vids it does

  • maybe my monitor is shit then, i don't see a difference unless it's full screen then it's just that HQ doesn't pixelate.

  • i thought MDF is banned in the USA!

  • Why would MDF be banned?

  • That's just a rumour. Just wear a dustmask and ventilate well when you saw it. It's the formaldehyde that's harmful.

  • Yeah i already know that! hehe i do joinery

  • Awesome! Keep it up.

  • i think his muste got whiter

  • the only thing is the lighting for the camera when you put the black cloth over top.

  • Would the images reflected in the glass be also seen in the camera? I mean...the camera is pointing behind the glass...i wonder...

  • the veiw of the camera projects through the back of the glass with the reflection on the oposite side. so no, you woul dnot see anyimages or text from the monitor through your camera.

  • why not just use a mirror lol it would be a lot easier and you would see better

  • Do you have a camera that can see through a mirror? If not then you need to use a glass.

Don't feel bad, statistics say 85% of people are functionally illiterate so you have a lot of company.

  • Agreed.

  • I have a camera that sees through a mirror. The mirror is what is called 'half-silvered' and it is used in many 'professional' teleprompters, including mine. It is basically a one-way mirror and yes, it is much better than using glass. So, 9878765454, good question. And punchpringle1, welcome to the 85% of the population.

  • how would you use a mirror

  • because the back of a mirror is opaque and the camera couldn't see through it. Unless you get a one way mirror but idk how well the visibility is on the side you can see through

  • why cant you just use the monitor for a teleprompter?

  • not if you want to have a camera behind the glass to record from to make it look like you're looking at the camera without a script,

  • because with the glass you can look straight into the camera.

  • because you need something transparent for the camera to be positioned behind so it looks like you're looking at the camera

  • Because then you wouldn't be able to look straight into the camera and it would be obvious you were reading something.

  • this think will fall apart wery easy you can see how mutch it shakes at 2:48 when he puts the scren on.

  • i thought it said teleporter thanks for gettings my hope up then crushing it with your telewhodawadathingiemagiger

  • I'm surprised you actually SPELLED "telewhodawadathingiemagiger" Teleporters won't exist for a WHILE

  • hammas: as he says you put it behind the glass so that you look into the camera while youre reading.

and for the rest of you wondering why a mirror wouldnt work; its not like pacproducer says - as kipkay says it will be reflected anyway - its so you can film through the screen

  • but......... can you show how it works?

  • Um how about a mirror.

  • but where you put camera then?

  • then you cant put the camera on the other side, unless you using a 2 way mirror.

  • What? It's just glass.

  • i wonder if this is how obama did it lol

  • A mirror would not work, since the camera is located behind the teleprompter screen. Might do it with a see-through mirror, but..

  • I dont get the point of this...

  • I think, mirror would reverse the screen backwards.

  • a mirror might work better than a peice of glass

  • -.-
