Loving the oscillation demo at 2:00, that's something most people don't show, and it's a crazy and more versatile function on the DD 20 than on pretty much any other delay pedal. Nice vid!
Did you pedal ever get stuck? I had about the same settings at 4:33 with feedback at max and delay time really high, and I got weird signs inscreen lol
I replugged the power supply and then it was normal again
i was thinkin about getting one of these but the twist and the warp mode are the most useless delay modes every inventied. i decided to go with the digitech timebender instead and it has served me greatly!
Which has more going on - this, or the RE-20? I've an RE20 that I want to get rid of, so was wondering if it's worth going for this instead? What's the reverse setting like on this?
Is this a better pedal than the dd7, i think it is from what i've heard but on ebay the dd7 goes for more money than the dd20 so I'm a bit confused really. I'm getting rid of my dd3 and dont know which one to get. Any thoughts?
It all depends on what you are after for. DD20 has more options, DD7 seems to be simpler. The DD7 hasn't been around as long, and that's probably the reason you'll have to pay more for it.
what you need to do is to hold down the left pedal while in MODULATE mode and turn the delay time knob to change the modulation. There's two parameters that you can set: rate and depth. two switch between the two, push down the delay time knob.
I think this is a good pedal but the dd7 was better for me ive had alot of pedals and all that extra will not even be used after awile the dd7 has 40 sec loop and a better reverse
could you please post a video using the reverse effect on this pedal??? i would much appreciate it.. i listened to the demo on musician's friend, and it sounds exactly like the sounds john frusciante gets on some of his solo records.. and during the solo in the recorded version of give it away.. i would appreciate it very much, seeing it actually being used.. would help my decision in buying hte pedal also.. thanks..
I'll see if I can find the time. I have a feeling it's not the best reverse effect out there, but it works once you find the best settings for your own playing style. I aim for the Adrian Belew type thing my self..
yeah the reverse feature is kinda odd/only semi useful, although you can set the delay very short with full effect mix and get something vaguely like what you are talking about, it takes the echo/delayed signal and "reverses" it. Good pedal overall, I own one and use it for basic delay/warped live, wierd cool stuff when I'm practicing/bored.
it sounds like a sweet pedal, i love delay, and i'm really interested in the reverse. just getting that really trippy and really just like junked out sound that frusciante gets on some of his solo songs.. just really deep, and just really cool and brilliant sounds.. thanks for the feeback man, i appreciate it. i am thinking i will get this pedal, not for sure yet though 100%
I was about to toss this pedal into the ebay abyss when I saw your posts. You have enabled me to see the capabilities of the giga. I have a new muse. thank you!
You're a strange one. Called me an idiot three times in a row, then you start whining when reply. You really should think before commenting if you can't handle the reply. Or did I miss something here?!?
haha powned =P good man hanskajalk =] i ordered this pedal and im getting it for xmas =P cant wait, but i have a feeling its gunna take me like a year to figure out how to control. is it hard to figure out how to control it when u first get it?
Not really. Just go through the manual and you'll get the hang of it. And check out my other video "Boss DD-20 in depth" for some info about the pedal. There isn't much playing in it, but it might be helpful.
i might buy this but just wondering. the 23 second thingy, is tht like a loop, like the loop station pedal so i can just play some thing then press the pedal and not have to hold down on the pedal and it will just repeat it over and over again, becuase i have the dd-3 which is shite and has a "hold" mode which is only like 0.5 seconds so just wondering if this has like a loop station thing were u dont have to hold down on the pedal u can just walk away and it will just repeat it. u kno? :)
I was messing around with this pedal at a guitar store once and I tried to do that but I had to spin the main knob like crazy and it really wasn't as pronounced and clear as it sounds in the video...
Hi, I wonder if you could help me... I live in Argentina, and I've recently had a BOSS DD 20 brought from USA. Now I need yo buy an adaptor... do you know how many mA should it have? thanks
That depends. Some people never read manuals or experiment with their gear. They just use factory settings and then complain that it's a piece of crap. But this pedal is eazy if you figure out the basics.
how did you do that? i have a dd20 myself and use the sos function a lot, aswell as warp etc. this is nothing short of a brilliant video. good music aswell : -)
oh he's not innovative because he doesn't use this delay type you've heard of before. You idiot. Innovative is when somebody is creative and makes something new, not recycling old sounds.
ok at 5:40 how did you get that type of delay? like what did you set it to? its almost like a tremelo delay.. i havent bought this yet but after seeing this vid i definately am gonna save the money up for it. thanks for the vid.. if you can please get back to me on that. thanks again :]
I'm not quite sure how the "hold" setting works, but as far as I can tell, it's more or less similar to the SOS (Sound On Sound) setting on the DD-20. If someone knows better, please correct me.
Check out my other video "Boss DD-20 in depth" for more info.
I think I had the pedal in dual mode. Set the delay time very short (about 20 ms) and the repeat to maximum. Hit a note and then start turning the delay time knob. That should get you going
Set the level and repeats to maximum, then just start messing with the delay time. I began with a very short time and that gets you the constant note that you can bend by changing the time.
The results depends a lot on what delay mode you're in. I had it in either in Pan or Dual mode.
And please, no more questions about the settings in various parts of the video. If you have a DD20, just look at the video and try to see how I have the knobs set and fool around with it.
Could you be more specific, please? Are you talking about the part about half way through the video? That's where I've got the pedal on "Modulate". The delay time is pretty short, but apart from that, everything is more or less pushed to maximum. Can't say what the modulation settings was, but you can hear it fluttering nicely.
I've got one of these , i really wish you could midi sync it to something so that i could have a guitar loop playing along with drums at the same tempo
can you store presets in it?..if I want store a preset for a song, and soon store a new preset for another one song...soon I want to touch another song with preset previous....I can?
Didn't I already reply to this question? Déjà vu.. If you want to know what's in the rig of famous guitarists, you can check it out from guitargeek dot com.
in all honesty, it seems like a pedal that can make some pretty wild noises. but how practical is it? how often would it get use playing songs in a band? it looks more like a bedroom novelty thing to me. can you store presets in it? that's kind of a basic requirement for my delay needs.
It is practical. I use it all the time, but not in the way shown in the video (well, some times you can find me on my knees twisting the knobs if we're deep into some strange improvisation :D).
I've made an in depth video of the features on the dd20. It'll be up shortly.
I got the RE-20 "Space Echo" and I think I made the right decission. It depends of course on what you would like to sound like. In my case I wanted to be able to get crazy sounds with feedback and in this case tape echo is a must.
But I still want to ask you something: what happens when you turn full feedback with tape mode delay? How does it sound like?
Ok, there's obviously a bunch of twats that don't get that I was trying to demonstrate the weird stuff that this pedal can do.
