  • Loving the oscillation demo at 2:00, that's something most people don't show, and it's a crazy and more versatile function on the DD 20 than on pretty much any other delay pedal. Nice vid!

  • I want one so bad when I watch this video!

  • Are you trying to make alien contact or trying to play some music???

  • @luispegt90 Are you trying to be funny or just a twat?

  • Comment removed

  • @Hanskajalka Can't he be both, I know I am :-D Love the vid by the way.

  • love the Harryhausen effects.

  • 1 minute of these weird sci-fi sounds convinced me. Just bought it on Ebay.

    Thanks mate.

  • Hey, what are the two red and white cables that you are using, and where does it go to?

  • @joshlee03rhymes It's the left and right output. In this case they were connected to my computer via the M-Box audio interface.

  • Did you pedal ever get stuck? I had about the same settings at 4:33 with feedback at max and delay time really high, and I got weird signs inscreen lol

I replugged the power supply and then it was normal again

  • also this is an actual interesting demo, not just some stupid old guy playing blues with simple delay, thank you for showing it's full capacity

  • nice guitar man

  • i have this pedal... what are the settings at 0:47??

  • Is this noisy with high gain settings and distortion?

  • no, just an external switch (CTL pedal) to use to set tap tempo, switch bank and so on

  • Are you able to plug an expression pedal into this so you can have control of the effects with your foot?

  • Which has more going on - this, or the RE-20? I've an RE20 that I want to get rid of, so was wondering if it's worth going for this instead? What's the reverse setting like on this?

  • Get the DD-20. Trust me it's more fun and versitile.Great for U2 aswell!!!

    Matt.

  • What has a better reverse the DD7 or

    DD 20?

  • Is this a better pedal than the dd7, i think it is from what i've heard but on ebay the dd7 goes for more money than the dd20 so I'm a bit confused really. I'm getting rid of my dd3 and dont know which one to get. Any thoughts?

  • It all depends on what you are after for. DD20 has more options, DD7 seems to be simpler. The DD7 hasn't been around as long, and that's probably the reason you'll have to pay more for it.

  • DD7=less expensive than DD20. Why? DD20=WAY MORE EFFECTS/Delay time

  • @jakeyboy2929 Go with the DD20, it has a LOT more options

  • Gostei dos toquinhos... !

  • what settings do u have at 4:10

  • E.LEVEL: max

    F.BACK: max

    TONE: max

    MODE: modulate

DELAY TIME: very short, just experiment

what you need to do is to hold down the left pedal while in MODULATE mode and turn the delay time knob to change the modulation. There's two parameters that you can set: rate and depth. two switch between the two, push down the delay time knob.

  • hi. i'm gonna buy delay. dd-7 or dd-20? or maybe u have other propositions?

  • the dd-7 is a more compact unit, but it does not do all the things the dd-20 does.

  • I think this is a good pedal but the dd7 was better for me ive had alot of pedals and all that extra will not even be used after awile the dd7 has 40 sec loop and a better reverse

  • dude

  • thanks for posting this video...most pedal demos suck (too much talking/everything they play is really cheesy and boring/etc)

    it's all about twiddling haha

  • sex guitar

  • does it take 12V or 9V or 18V?

  • wow dude this sounds almost perfect for some Dave Knudson playing

  • Can u get a sweep echo like the ones on the line6 dl4?

  • could you please post a video using the reverse effect on this pedal??? i would much appreciate it.. i listened to the demo on musician's friend, and it sounds exactly like the sounds john frusciante gets on some of his solo records.. and during the solo in the recorded version of give it away.. i would appreciate it very much, seeing it actually being used.. would help my decision in buying hte pedal also.. thanks..

  • I'll see if I can find the time. I have a feeling it's not the best reverse effect out there, but it works once you find the best settings for your own playing style. I aim for the Adrian Belew type thing my self..

  • sweet.. do you know of any pedals that have a really good reverse effect on them?

    thanks for the feedback man

  • yeah the reverse feature is kinda odd/only semi useful, although you can set the delay very short with full effect mix and get something vaguely like what you are talking about, it takes the echo/delayed signal and "reverses" it. Good pedal overall, I own one and use it for basic delay/warped live, wierd cool stuff when I'm practicing/bored.

  • it sounds like a sweet pedal, i love delay, and i'm really interested in the reverse. just getting that really trippy and really just like junked out sound that frusciante gets on some of his solo songs.. just really deep, and just really cool and brilliant sounds.. thanks for the feeback man, i appreciate it. i am thinking i will get this pedal, not for sure yet though 100%

  • Rock on, it's cool you dig frusciante...don't forget to give Hillel Slovack some props. ; )

  • :)

    yesyes

    hillel is the man.

  • It was good until 1:17, then i turned the volume down. haha. I love what you did, and I'm glad you posted this vid, it sounds fantastic.

Would you suggest this over a Boss RE-20 space Echo?

  • danka my friend.

I was about to toss this pedal into the ebay abyss when I saw your posts. You have enabled me to see the capabilities of the giga. I have a new muse. thank you!

  • a ridiculous example of how to get nice tones from a delay pedal

  • wow the sounds from outer space

  • wow thats great!

  • wouldn't a casio keyboard be cheaper?

  • you are an idiot

    you are an idiot

    you are an idiot

  • I'm having a hard time believing that you are 21 years old. I've eaten food with more intelligence than you have. Good luck with your life.

  • come on hanskajalka, IF THAT IS YOUR REAL NAME, no need to be rude or insulting.

  • You're a strange one. Called me an idiot three times in a row, then you start whining when reply. You really should think before commenting if you can't handle the reply. Or did I miss something here?!?

  • haha powned =P good man hanskajalk =] i ordered this pedal and im getting it for xmas =P cant wait, but i have a feeling its gunna take me like a year to figure out how to control. is it hard to figure out how to control it when u first get it?

  • Not really. Just go through the manual and you'll get the hang of it. And check out my other video "Boss DD-20 in depth" for some info about the pedal. There isn't much playing in it, but it might be helpful.

  • I've now heard EVERYTHING this pedal will do that I'd NEVER want it to do.

  • You're welcome ;)

  • If u can make VCD pratice about play DD 20 I will buy it and I think many people will buy it too

  • hey can u tell me how to get this shit to over duband loop i can get ti to records when its on sos but i dont a manual so im stuck

  • i might buy this but just wondering. the 23 second thingy, is tht like a loop, like the loop station pedal so i can just play some thing then press the pedal and not have to hold down on the pedal and it will just repeat it over and over again, becuase i have the dd-3 which is shite and has a "hold" mode which is only like 0.5 seconds so just wondering if this has like a loop station thing were u dont have to hold down on the pedal u can just walk away and it will just repeat it. u kno? :)

  • That's right. Hold down while you play, then let go to repeat what you've played. Hold down again to to overdub another line. No undo, though.

  • How are you bending the pitch like that at 1:17??

I was messing around with this pedal at a guitar store once and I tried to do that but I had to spin the main knob like crazy and it really wasn't as pronounced and clear as it sounds in the video...

  • Push the knob down and then spin it and you'll have a better out come ;)

  • Cool! Thank you!

  • Hi, I wonder if you could help me... I live in Argentina, and I've recently had a BOSS DD 20 brought from USA. Now I need yo buy an adaptor... do you know how many mA should it have? thanks

  • yo lo acabao de comprar!!! espectacular pedal... gracias por la muestra, ayudo a que me decida!

I just bought this pedal!!! spectacular piece of equipment, thanks a lot for showing some of its features, it helped me decide to buy it.

  • qiero eso

  • It sounds like a Mack truck revving up at 2:09.

  • does anyone know what the second pedal is used for???please reply about what each pedal does.thx

  • Check out my video "Boss DD-20 in depth" for more info about it.

  • would that pedal be easy to make a feed back solo?

  • muito masssa!!!!!

  • i like the ocilation at 1:20 i want this pedal is it easy to use?

  • That depends. Some people never read manuals or experiment with their gear. They just use factory settings and then complain that it's a piece of crap. But this pedal is eazy if you figure out the basics.

  • Yeah remix that shit bro!

  • I love stuff like this. I want to get one of these for my bass.

  • how did you do that? i have a dd20 myself and use the sos function a lot, aswell as warp etc. this is nothing short of a brilliant video. good music aswell : -)

  • what delay time did you use in the begining?

  • I can't remember. Very short :)

  • I'm not into all this stuff but it's extremely wicked at 2:05 til 2:09 !!!!! haha

  • i have a dd3 and it sounds just as good and it is alot more compact the dd6 is the best though or atleast of what ive heard

  • Really nice! But next time, play some MUSIC. But that noises really Rockz.

  • Well, the noise was the point of the video ;)

  • oh he's not innovative because he doesn't use this delay type you've heard of before. You idiot. Innovative is when somebody is creative and makes something new, not recycling old sounds.

  • ok at 5:40 how did you get that type of delay? like what did you set it to? its almost like a tremelo delay.. i havent bought this yet but after seeing this vid i definately am gonna save the money up for it. thanks for the vid.. if you can please get back to me on that. thanks again :]

  • does this also have a "hold" setting like the smaller BOSS delays? if it does, i will definitely buy this thing.

  • I'm not quite sure how the "hold" setting works, but as far as I can tell, it's more or less similar to the SOS (Sound On Sound) setting on the DD-20. If someone knows better, please correct me.

Check out my other video "Boss DD-20 in depth" for more info.

  • thanks:)

  • Watching this I'm so glad that I bought this pedal one hour ago :)

  • is it easy to change the presets?

  • Yes it is.

  • at 1:17--how did you do that? that's pretty cool!

  • I think I had the pedal in dual mode. Set the delay time very short (about 20 ms) and the repeat to maximum. Hit a note and then start turning the delay time knob. That should get you going

  • thanks!

  • if you had the feedback on full how long would the delay keep going?

  • Short answer: Forever.

The long answer: It depends what mode the pedal is in, but in most modes, forever.

  • you just convinced me of buying the damn thing... thanx!

  • I guess that means I should get a sponsorship from Boss ;)

  • not bad man!

  • Thanks!

  • i have the me-50 but i really want this.

  • what's the setting at around 2:00? I like that sputtery almost synthy sound.

  • Set the level and repeats to maximum, then just start messing with the delay time. I began with a very short time and that gets you the constant note that you can bend by changing the time.

The results depends a lot on what delay mode you're in. I had it in either in Pan or Dual mode.

And please, no more questions about the settings in various parts of the video. If you have a DD20, just look at the video and try to see how I have the knobs set and fool around with it.

  • I love the first sound you get from the dd-20...which settings do you use to get that sound? thank you!

  • I think the settings are as follows:

Mode Tape (2 Head, hold the left pedal down for few seconds to access the head selector)

Level and Tone about 12 aclock

    F.Back around 4 aclock

    Delay time 120 msec.

    That should get you going.

  • What setting are you using for the oscillation/space/ring mod sounds?

  • Could you be more specific, please? Are you talking about the part about half way through the video? That's where I've got the pedal on "Modulate". The delay time is pretty short, but apart from that, everything is more or less pushed to maximum. Can't say what the modulation settings was, but you can hear it fluttering nicely.

  • I've got one of these , i really wish you could midi sync it to something so that i could have a guitar loop playing along with drums at the same tempo

  • Maybe you should check out the Damage Control Timeline Multi-Dimensional Delay Pedal (now there's a mouthful..)

  • can you store presets in it?..if I want store a preset for a song, and soon store a new preset for another one song...soon I want to touch another song with preset previous....I can?

  • See my other video to find out ;-)

  • is this the pedal that Mike Einziger from Incubus uses?

  • Didn't I already reply to this question? Déjà vu.. If you want to know what's in the rig of famous guitarists, you can check it out from guitargeek dot com.

  • thats right... sorry, I'm just really looking into buying this and guess I never saw your reply from the first time I asked.

And good stuff by the way.

  • No problem.

  • cool

  • in all honesty, it seems like a pedal that can make some pretty wild noises. but how practical is it? how often would it get use playing songs in a band? it looks more like a bedroom novelty thing to me. can you store presets in it? that's kind of a basic requirement for my delay needs.

  • It is practical. I use it all the time, but not in the way shown in the video (well, some times you can find me on my knees twisting the knobs if we're deep into some strange improvisation :D).

I've made an in depth video of the features on the dd20. It'll be up shortly.

  • great song! what's it called?

  • LOL! That's a good one :)

  • dude if u like that u will love the rt 20

  • Actually, I've got my eye on the RE-20 Space Echo. But I'll check out the RT-20 if I come across one.

  • Thanks for il test! Is amazing the dd-20 delay!! Please, if you will buy the RE-20 advice us!! Greetings

  • Hello, very useful video you made...

I got the RE-20 "Space Echo" and I think I made the right decission. It depends of course on what you would like to sound like. In my case I wanted to be able to get crazy sounds with feedback and in this case tape echo is a must.

But I still want to ask you something: what happens when you turn full feedback with tape mode delay? How does it sound like?

    Greetings.

  • I gotta get one

  • great vid!

in fact, in some parte, sound like the machine noises at the begining of "welcome to the machine"

  • Hey, great vid, really illustrates some of the less obvious functions of the device.

  • Ok, there's obviously a bunch of twats that don't get that I was trying to demonstrate the weird stuff that this pedal can do. It's a very good pedal and you can do allmost any traditional delay stuff with it. I will do another vide of the basic stuff later, but the point of this video was to show some of the far out stuff you can do. If you don't like it, go fuck yourself.

  • off-beat frequencies? what are you talking about?

  • Interesting. Is this what Mike Einziger uses?

  • Not according to his list of gear over at Guitargeek dot com.

  • is it possible to loop?

  • Sure. It has a SOS function (Sound On Sound). I'll see if I can do a demonstration of that some time.

  • thanks for twidlin'

  • You're welcome :)
