How you can even remotely relate this to one of the most outstanding poets of all time perplexes me, It is so loosely linked and prominently belittling to the memory of Plath. This short film is chronically degrading in every sense of the word. Poorly researched and evidently uneducated in Plath's poetry, written novel, and life and death of a greatly loved writer. The reference alone is humiliation to whoever made this film, Terrible excuse for "creativity"
Given that it was a student film, I'll give it some slack ( like I'm one to judge), but the plot structure is good, but the sound quality during the phone sequence and cutting in and out of frames is terrible. Sound quality needs to be redone.
actually, this quite good; the underlying themes, the tension one could actually feel while the young lady was reading THE BELL JAR, the clostrophobicness felt as the short film was shot inside one room with a brief sense of relief as she left that room for the bathroom, the unseen images causing one to tap into one's own ghost. I was very impressed. Good for you!!! 3.5 out of 4 stars.
christ. so AWFUL. cringey story and bad acting. TERRIBLE. this is SO embarrassing. i can not believe Sylvia Plath was brought into this monstrosity of a video.
That is not even how she killed herself, she put her head in an oven, and died, get your facts strait. but really an odd and depressing video, so very good, other then the M.O. of the death.
contrary to popular belief, she did NOT "put her head in the oven," she turned on the gas of the stove/oven without lighting the pilot and died of asphyxiation. She had sealed the windows and doors of the kitchen with towels so her children would not be harmed by the toxic fumes.
It's a cool video, I don't really get what the point is. Anyhow I prefer these kind of videos on youtube than the other ones with people lip syncing songs or vlogs about random and useless topics.
Oh dear, I can see Sylvia with her smirk and best Bette Davis accent saying: "I am a great dramatic poetess (snicker snicker), put down my book, and darling, try to get a tragic, tormented (snicker snicker) life of your very own."
please, can you tell me what typing on the internet has to do with sylvia plath, and my interest in poetry. i am really stunned someone can be so ignorant. i really dont care what your opinion is. if you cannot see the beauty in creation, of any form of it, then i am truly sorry. if my stuff is not your cup of tea, dont watch it, but taking a stab at my personal strenghts shows insecurity. if your english is better, i would like to read your published novel.
har har har...sigh. You digust me, yet i value your opinion. I really feel like I offended you personally in some way, and that makes me feel as if my movie has completed its purpose, and furthermore has strengthened my opinion that the people using the internet today are poorly educated minors with nothing better to do with their time then to bash the work of others to make up for their own lack of production. For that, I thank you.
From "My Mother" by Plath's daughter Frieda Hughes: "Now they want to make a film For anyone lacking the ability To imagine the body, head in the oven Orphaning children. Then It can be rewound So they can watch her die Right from the beginning again." Don't fuck with Plath's memory as if she where some haunted ghost thats fucked up -hero
I don't really get what you're trying to do here. You're being "haunted" by the ghost of Sylvia Plath? That really isn't something to make fun of. It's very strange and doesn't make much sense to me and almost seems like you're trying to mock her death. And she didn't kill herself by slitting her wrists, either. I was just very confused and kind of offended after seeing this.
this was not meant to confuse or offend anyone...i am a huge fan of sylvia plath...this was an entry in a 6 hr film festival where the entire thing was made in a few hours, from idea to end...i never said she killed herself that way, or even that i was making fun of it. In the bell jar she had cut her skin by her heel and then covered it ashamed...well, the topic was haunted history and i used a real tramatic event victim as the ghost...used to haunt this girl

'Piano song?' You mean TUNE. A song is sung.
How can one take your interest in Plath seriously, when you are so sloppy in your use of english?

I have to agree, I hate to agree- but I do.
I don't think anything about Sylvia warrants this.
She would not be the kind to haunt. She was the haunted, you see. Please be kind to her- even in death.
