You know, Family Guy had it right. This really was a glaring plot hole... I mean, these kids live in a town of 1,200 people. How are they going to avoid Ace the rest of their time there? He was just about to slit his friend's brother's throat and they think there won't be repercussions because of this?

@britishbulldog100 I haven't seen the movie yet so I can't be sure, but in the book Ace's character plays a very important role. He's the first person to help Leland Gaunt knowing that he's the devil. From what I've seen the movies are VERY diffrent from the books, so he may not be in it.

@bacorus WRONG, that is a 1911 which is a single action. He had fired the gun into the air to get attention so it would have cocked itself for the next round. Also had sound of a rifle instead of a pistol when he fired.
