Smith appears to be quite nervous about doing 'Later'. By all accounts he said he turned down several offers in the past to appear on 'Later' as he didn't like the muso side of the program. I think he feels he will be judged by others.
Just as a matter of interest, Jools Holland has interviewed MES on the Tube in the 80s and would be well aware of the Fall. As should any individual with a taste for good music.
Jools Holland's is at least better than CDUK used to be. Great songs these. I'd like to hear them played at the wrong speed again, just once. On a side note, doesnt it fill your heart with joy that the woman playing keyboards is/was romantically linked to Mark E. Smith. As I get older, he gets more inspiring.
jools holland is shit. Very shit. He is a symbol for everything wrong with the world. Jools barely knows the names of the bands he's introducing. You don't want him, trust me.
Oh shut up. Jools was in a small band too once you know. I'm not surprised he can't be arsed knowing the names of some of the no-marks who appear on his show.
Mark E Smith, Manchester salutes you! HIT THE NORTH!!

well that was... awful. Classic tune by The Move butchered by a half decent band.. with a complete spastic as a singer. C'mon Jools - standards.

That looks like Paul Wellers new guitarist on the far left!

Her name is Eleni (sometimes called Elenor or Elena) Poulou. I think she's drop-dead gorgeous! And The Fall are still on fire!
Blackhawkphil... you should go listen to your Creed Mp3s or Nickleback or some crap that you are capable of understanding. Clear off!

She's his wife - I think she looks like Tracey Barlow from Corrie.

More like Patricia Morrison from the Sisters of Mercy

Do you think so? I'd never have thought that. I thought she's a dead ringer for Tracey Barlow. Patricia Morrison is now married to Dave Vanian.

why the hell can't we get a show like Jool's Holland's in the freakin' states??

some suggestions... public service broadcasting; the nhs; the tv license; post-war socialism; size of the coutnry; this nation's saving grace.

yeah I've heard that about Holland.
But, I'd like us to have a legit weekly music show - with FREAKIN' BANDS rather than all our obsession with novelty and "vocalist" line-dancing acts.
If not HOLLAND what?

I agree, there are so many great American bands that get no exposure. Ween, The Melvins, The Residents, Pere Ubu, and many more!
The Residents have even have film experience, so they could do the show themselves for Chrissake!
