@JetMechMA I imagine the locals have the RR phone numbers. We just tried to get their attention. They do use radios, and they could have been in contact with their dispatcher.
@1jackdk no 2100 is still rolling strong. I think he ment RIP "2101". 2100 was leading a freight 2 days ago and was kicking around the north for about a month or so. Cheers.
this is really cool i need to venture further north next time I am up there I only drove up to Trout Creek a few days ago from the states for an antique pickup and didnt drive any further North I didnt see any Ontario Northland freight only a passenger train at Huntsville Ontario does the ONR not run South past North Bay ?
@gaycowboy31 That was more than likely the CN line that you where on. ONR's Northlander runs on it to Toronto. ONR freight doesn't run below North Bay, and the freight that does, runs north at night. The center of action is out of Englehart. When the n/b reaches Englehart, its split it 3 different trains, then they make daylight runs north of there, and return befor evening. A pretty neat opperation, and I hope to get back up there this fall. Thanks for watching. Jack...
@1jackdk thanks for that info I went back and looked at my railroad map which is outdated unfortunatlly and it showed that was on the CN line I saw so I will have to venture further north I just assumed since the passenger train was ONR the freights had trackage rights further south thats interesting I only saw the Northlander at Huntsville and that was it I missed Washego which was suggested to me for great CN action I drove right by the turnoff oh well next time
@1jackdk That's true, but lately they've been running that night train in the early hours of the day, usually leaving North Bay before 6:00am. (train #113). Then they spit her up in Englehart like you said
what street is this, and in what city? and what time does it come around by? and what country is this, usa or canada? and what province or state? btw great video!
This is on the ONR Kirkland Lake sub, which cuts off the mainline at Swastika, Ontario Canada. First Video was just off Highway 66 at King Kirkland, second was at Larder Lake off 66, third was at Kearns, on the Quebec border. No set time on traffic. One train each way a day to Rouyn-Noranda. Maybe two if you get a work extra, which this was. Thanks for looking. Jack...
You know!!! Thats what I thought it was, and had it that way. But after mkd8721 (post below) said it was wrong, I thought it was wrong. Should have done some research. Thanks, and take care. Jack

When you see something like that, do you call it in to the railroad? How would they contact the engineer? Do they use HF radios?

I remember the ONR having vans on the end of their trains as late as the mid 1990s. Thanks for the throwback. BTW the unit is an SD75i.
