  • Poor Fritz :( Ralf's such a gent. God , I love that band.

  • This is the saddest thing I've ever seen! :(

  • Ralf is like... WE GOT TO GET THE HELL OUTA HERE!!!

  • Sounds like Fritz needs an Elektrocardiogram.

  • Worst day of my life!

  • That was really ballzy of Ralf to be there to tell them. Many performers would have been like "oh well". Shows that he has class and cares about the fans who already paid tickets to see Kraftwerk.

I'm sure he would rather have been at hospital w/Fritz.

  • ralf looks worried about fritz

i think ralf was suffocating when the mc grabs his sholder and puts the mic infront of him

  • I too had no idea that Florian was no longer with Kraftwerk. Your, kidding, he was one of the founders of the group. I hope Fritz has gotten better also. I have not had a chance to see these gentleman perform in the states but I would love to! :) Avid Kraftwerk fan!!!

  • No he's not. Confirmed on 5th January.

  • Funnily enough he left the day before this gig and the day after they lost their lawsuit.

Perhaps that's what brought on the stress with Fritz.

  • @nathanbe Actually, Wikipedia says Kraftwerk *won* their lawsuit in November of 2008.

  • I saw Kraftwerk at the Princes Theatre in Melbourne in around 1981-82. - Computer World was then their latest release. It was the great lineup with Ralf, Florian, Karl Bartos and Wolfgang Flur. It was stupendous! Never forget it.

I saw them again last time they came to Melbourne. The Minimum Maximum period. It was wonderful once again.

When I saw that Florian had retired from touring I decided against seeing them again, and after what happened it's lucky I did.

    Long live Kraftwerk.

  • Oh, by the way guys. Kraftwerk aren't coming back to Melbourne. =(

  • they were simply brilliant in Sydney on Sunday..Florian or no Florian they rocked! Poor Ralf looks genuinely upset at Fritz Hilpert's predicament and not being able to play..i totally understand the disappointment from the Melbourne fans..i really hope they return soon hopefully with some new material..Kraftwerk are still an amazing musical experience..i am so fortunate to have seen them live

  • So sad to hear that... ): Hope, you get better Fritz!

  • Can anyone make out what Ralf is saying?

  • actually i would like to know what both are saying. ralf AND the MC. You can't understand a word because of that poor cellphone video quality and all that people shouting :(

  • The REAL question is: WHERE IS FLORIAN???

I would go to the Brisbane concert if both Ralf and Florian were there, but only seeing 1 of the original members isn't good enough.

  • Well to be honest, Florian wasn't really fond of touring in the first place, and often disliked it at times. You may call him "too good" to tour if you like, which is actually not too far from the truth.

According to Ralf in an interview earlier this year, Florian is still with the group, but is back home in Germany working on some projects for the band.

  • they played at perth.

    and godskitchen stage was shit.

  • Apparently they played in Perth on Sunday so he must have been OK. A big scare all the same.. Hope they do a sideshow in Melb as I am still very keen to see the kings!

  • I'm with you. I was gutted I missed out on seeing them. COME BACK TO MELBOURNE KRAFTWERK!

  • oh that's awful! I was gunna go to that show too aww, I hope he gets better!

  • GG was a big disappointment! i hope the organizer's lost a shit load of money! the only stage that was really rocking was Godskitchen!

  • fritz get well!!!

  • That's a tough spot, filling for Kraftwerk ;/

I just found it funny when Ralf kind of just backed away from the stage when the MC starts to babble :DD

  • hahaha...its funny to see Ralf and that rapper together...he is like a little boy next to him...but I hope Fritz is doing better and everything will be okay. Maybe it would be better if he wasnt play the rest of the year, because any heart problem is very serious thing. He is better now, but next time it could be worse...take care Fritz...

  • Had a great day at Global despite the weather! Sasha and Felix were unbelievable and although I really wanted to see Kraftwerk obviously this didn't happen. I thought Future managed the issues with weather and Fritz as best anyone could in those circumstances. It's an outdoor event! Plus I actually enjoyed raving to Above and Beyond in the rain whilst been fu*ked... an interesting experience to say the least. All the best Fritz, come back to Melbourne for a warm welcome when youre better.

  • i was backstage when this was happening. i tell ya the event was not only over rated but embarassing in the name of future entertainment.. the weather just ruined it..

  • hope fritz gets well.

the gorillaz were shit btw. and it was pissing rain the whole evening. what a crap day.

  • I'm so disapointed, please come back to Melbourne when Fritz gets better!!! The only reason I went to Global was to see Kraftwerk!

  • not true.

  • can robots die?

(btw he's already out of hospital)

  • Oh this is not what I have expected for the gig in Melbourne, which should have been awesome...I was terribly shocked and I also hope Fritz Hilpert gets well soon.

  • my thoughts are with him

  • I wish we could understand what ralf was saying.

I hope the Fritz recovers well.

  • Can anyone understand what Ralf says when he was given the mic?

  • yeh it was hard to hear when live too, but he said they are really sorry for cancelling and he promises they will try book a sideshow in Melbourne in the near future.

he looked really distraught which is fair enough.

  • @gdebruin82 Can any body understand anything that's said in the whole video???

  • I'm not quite sure because of the bad audio, but I'm pretty sure he said, "Yeah yeah boyeee sup yo word to ya mother. Kraftwerk cancelled. Dat's right, fo shizzle. Everybody say 'Hoooooooo'. PEACE!"

  • but what is this idiot MC all about? fucking idiot! :(

  • fritz hilpert is a legend! please get well soon. from me and all kraftwerk fans.

  • Fritz has only been in the group since 1987. He has done great things for the group, but his output within the band hasn't been very much considering how few records they have released since then.

  • well,if it weren't for these 4 grandpas, you wouldn't be listening to most of the music that exists today.

  • Exactly.

Ask any rapper (with any amount of success) if they've heard of Kraftwerk. Chances are they have and have some of their records in their collection. They are pioneers.

  • Great minds think alike. In this day and time it's good to live past the age of 20. My hats off to each and every KW fan like myself.

  • "oh well" you say? Can you be anymore freaking insensitive? Regardless of what YOU think of their music, this is terrible news!

  • Last year they had not any concerts ;o)

  • fuck you for saying that. Kraftwerk created electronic music. you wouldn't have anything except rock'n'roll now, if not for them.

  • I totally agree with you. That was a rather ugly comment. I loved Kraftwerk's music since the '80's when breakdancing became popular. My hats off to them and to you for standing up for them.

  • I saw them in Auckland and if you sleep through that you would have to have been half dead to start with.
