The first season of Higurashi is the best. 2nd is worth a watch, but it's a bit too dragged out for my tastes, and while the finale satisfied my emotional side (woot! payback!) my logical side was headbanging at the sheer ridiculousness and implausibility of it. The OVAs that follow are, in my opinion, absolutely terrible.

It’s a strange story, or I would say it’s a strange way to tell the story. every time it start over and over, but with a difrent murder and victim. This way you can see how someone responds in many states (Murder, victim, Demon…).

@OneSh0tLinkon i can't really think of any animes to similar to this. but if you like to get mindfucked i would suggest serial experiments lain. i also heard that jigoku shoujo, ghost hound where good but i haven't seen those. A rather new one that i've been hearing about was "Another". It supposedly fits into the horror genre.

Higurashi no naku koro ni consists of four story arcs, or "time loops" in which someone becomes the victim and another is the murderer. It centers around five kids who are caught up in this mess, and many times it is difficult to tell who is sane and who is not.

If you like the horror genre, I think this is one of the best out there. I really enjoyed it because for once, the characters are likable and you start to care for them instead of actually wishing for the

This show is pretty good. Gruesome at times for sure and sometimes confusing. I haven't seen the second season though and I've heard that it makes the rest of the series make a lot more sense. I'll be watching it eventually.

I don't know why, but Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni (kai) is so inspirational. It has such a good plot line and so full of mysteries. I want to create such a in-depth plot line like that. Huh. Funny. Maybe that's why I love anime. The English cartoons never (rarely?) are as in-depth as Anime and often normal books aren't as inspirational as anime. ( I'm not trashing them, I mean, I enjoy a little bit of Sponge-Bob as anyone else) but in my opinion, anime is far better.

It wouldn't make a difference if she did that, because in everybody else's eyes, time would just keep on going. And if you're thinking, "Well, why couldn't she just reset Rika to another world if things started to go bad?" the answer is because Rika had to die in that world, to move on to another. In other words, she had to make sure that that body was destroyed, since there can only be one Rika.
