But thats just my opinion, and from the massive amount of aggressive comments towards me its now also my opinion that Nofx fans (at least on youtube) are just stupid, not because they like the music, but just some of the comments made me laugh.
plus i like it how just because i dont like it and made a comment that says so, its like an Nofx fan Jihad is called on me

Don't hate Don McLean fans. NOFX made this song relevant to a younger generation. I'm a fan of classic stuff too, and I will say that I think NOFX's version is just as well done as don's.

I was young when this came out and heard this before I heard the orrigional. I love this song and I love NOFX. Going for nearly 30 years....they gotta be doing something right! They got me through some right times. I'll never "grow out" of them :-)

I like NOFX but they really shouldn't have covered this song, its not meant to be played in the style they were playing in. Don mclean is the only ( and will always be the only ) person who can preform it beautifully.
they're taking something with meaning and butchering it with power chords and melodic drums, not to mention Mikes "vocals"

The origianl version is for those over 60 and Filipino's. If it wasn't for NOFX I would never have checked out the original. I find it ironic. Like it or not, I admire NOFX for their cover of this song. It demonstrates depth, and respect fro two artists that have evidently influenced and touched them enough to cover the song. Isn't imitation the sincerest form of flattery, after all?
