In the region of today's Kosovo and a part of Macedonia there was an Illyrian tribe named "Dardanet" therefore the region was called "Dardania". You find that term in archeology remains. South west there were other tribes such as Taulants, Ardains.
Language is transormed in the course of time. Likewise, latin terms are similar to Italian or Spanish today.
There are some scholars that argue about the origin, but most part of them agree that Illyrians are the Albanian's ancestors. Serbs don't agree with that, and this is another story.

You tube is interesting, it's like a small window where you can learn about news and events, by watching videos or by reading other's opinions or informations.
I know about Hoxha's regime in Albania. Many people had to flee because of their opinions and even for religious matters.
I don't know how you feel about communism, but I'm blaming it for many things, although I'm not for absolute Capitalism, but rather some healthy mix between Socialism and Capitalism.

There are countries that have applied some sort of "mixed" system, which involves both Socialism and Capitalism. Canada is one example. They have free health care for their citizens, and many other social services to help the lower class. I agree with you. A healthy mix system between Socialism and Capitalism may offer less regarding the economy development, but has some other great advantages.
Well, most people left the country for economic reasons after the collapse of the dictature. Religion didn't play a role during that regime, since it was banned. Now that "doors" of religion have reopened, in every city you'll find churches and mosques. Many people have decided to remain Atheists though, and many names have no religious meanings. Many people don't use Muslim names anymore, since they are out of "fashion".
I know it was, so religious people had to go elsewhere to be religious.
Well, things change and how the things will be later... we'll see, but I think that it depends of the outside where Albania will be in the future (as it was for the whole Balkans).
As for economy, Switzerland is doing the best around for now.

Russia adopted Christianity from the Byzantine empire around the 10th century. Tribes that settled in a region nearby Kiev created the state called Rus, which later became known as Russia.
I mentioned it that Slavonic people migrated from different regions of north and eastern Europe. (See above)
The tribe Rus was a Viking tribe that mixed with local Slavic population and got assimilated, but the country got the name by them.

And Serbs, by the most possible theory, are from the area close to today's Poland. In Eastern Germany, there are still a small group of people with the same name - Serbs, of Lusatia.
From a region where is today's Poland came only a tribe which is known as "white slavs". There were other tribes that came Dnieper river. THey settled first in the Carpathians and later settled in today's Serbia.
The name Russia did not exist but they were all Slav people.
At some point back in history, all the countries had a different name, like Romans, Prussians, Babylonians, Persians. That does not mean that they didn't exist. People existed in Russia by a different name. Most comonly they were known as slavic tribes.

I was kind of curious, because I don't know much about your history. When did the first Slavic tribes arrive in Balkan? Did they come from the same region? By the way, did the white Slavs arrive earlier then the other tribes or they came at the same time? Was there any war to occupy the lands or not? What does Serbia mean in your language?
Well, there is a lack of written sources, so it is somewhat problematic to tell their exact location.
Constantine Porphyrogenitus was writing about Serbs and their relations with "White Serbs" who came from the region now Poland and very East of Germany. There were Slavic tribes
in areas between Baltic Sea and Carpathian mountains, although it is hard to tell the exact borderlines.
They started moving, probably already somewhere in the 3rd century.
In the 4th century, Slavonic peoples had already been in Pannonia, all to Northern coast of Danube river.
There was not many wars. Byzantium (Eastern Roman Empire) was still dreaming about re-unification and was too busy in Hispania and other regions, so it didn't have much military in the Balkan area.
The point is that, exactly - Serbia got its name by the people - Serbs, but the word "Serb" (Srbin) means nothing in Serbian and is not of Slavic origin.
This is why some historians are researching the pre-Slavic origins of the Serbs.
Slavonic tie is more based upon language, traditions, regions, religion and migrations, more than ethnicity.

Most of USA and Nato troops and services have been sent to Iraq and Afganistan. I don't think there a large military presence or larege base in Kosovo.

In the region of today's Kosovo and a part of Macedonia there was an Illyrian tribe named "Dardanet" therefore the region was called "Dardania". You find that term in archeology remains. South west there were other tribes such as Taulants, Ardains.
Language is transormed in the course of time. Likewise, latin terms are similar to Italian or Spanish today.

There are some scholars that argue about the origin, but most part of them agree that Illyrians are the Albanian's ancestors. Serbs don't agree with that, and this is another story.
According to you, before the Slavic migration in the what was the name of the inhabitants in the region of today's Kosovo? And what was the name of the region? Without a mere doubt it was not Kosovo because Kosovo is a Serbian term.

There was a Roman province called Dardania.
There is nothing "according to me", it was known what country ruled that area. It was the part of Eastern Roman Empire (Byzantium). At that time, none of those names was used, since they made different territorial division than in the ancient times.

Any trace of Illyrian existance has been lost in antiquity, while the first mention of Albanians was 10th century. Moreover, there are no scripts to tie them and much of material proof miss to prove anything.

Easily, by turning his back to the Serbs in Croatia, firstly and mostly. Some are not familiar with that fact, but yet, he wasn't the one to be blamed for everything. Too many non-existent affairs about him and his family have been set up in some periods. There were, for example, some fight incidents in my town (his native) about his son, as if they were of the state importance, while they were common incidents that happen every day in every part of the World.

Giving up national currency is the worst thing to do. This is why I like that UK, for example, kept pound along with EURO, that way they can still be prepared for "unexpected". It is practically giving up the independence in exchange for some "free market" in which, again, only the strongest ones have the say.
Sure thing, we have rights on different opinions, but this matters me, since it is about my country.

There are countries that have applied some sort of "mixed" system, which involves both Socialism and Capitalism. Canada is one example. They have free health care for their citizens, and many other social services to help the lower class. I agree with you. A healthy mix system between Socialism and Capitalism may offer less regarding the economy development, but has some other great advantages.

Well, most people left the country for economic reasons after the collapse of the dictature. Religion didn't play a role during that regime, since it was banned. Now that "doors" of religion have reopened, in every city you'll find churches and mosques. Many people have decided to remain Atheists though, and many names have no religious meanings. Many people don't use Muslim names anymore, since they are out of "fashion".

From Carpathians mountains....During the "little" ice age period, many crops were frosted and many slavic tribes were seeking food and shelter and a warmer climate. Russia adopted Christianity from the Byzantine empire around the 10th century. Tribes that settled in a region nearby Kiev created the state called Rus, which later became known as Russia.
I mentioned it that Slavonic people migrated from different regions of north and eastern Europe. (See above)

The tribe Rus was a Viking tribe that mixed with local Slavic population and got assimilated, but the country got the name by them.
At that time, Serbs have already been in the Balkan region, which means, they DIDN'T COME FROM RUSSIA, simply because Russia still DIDN'T EXIST!

I was kind of curious, because I don't know much about your history. When did the first Slavic tribes arrive in Balkan? Did they come from the same region? By the way, did the white Slavs arrive earlier then the other tribes or they came at the same time? Was there any war to occupy the lands or not? What does Serbia mean in your language?

Well, there is a lack of written sources, so it is somewhat problematic to tell their exact location.
Constantine Porphyrogenitus was writing about Serbs and their relations with "White Serbs" who came from the region now Poland and very East of Germany. There were Slavic tribes
in areas between Baltic Sea and Carpathian mountains, although it is hard to tell the exact borderlines.

They started moving, probably already somewhere in the 3rd century.
In the 4th century, Slavonic peoples had already been in Pannonia, all to Northern coast of Danube river.
There was not many wars. Byzantium (Eastern Roman Empire) was still dreaming about re-unification and was too busy in Hispania and other regions, so it didn't have much military in the Balkan area.

Slavs would return to Pannonia few times and again trying to settle South of Danube.
In 626 there was a triple attack on Constantinople, by Slavs, Avars and Persians.
As we know, Constantinople (which everyone tried to take over) wasn't conquered, but still, the Slavs stayed on the Balkans forever.

The point is that, exactly - Serbia got its name by the people - Serbs, but the word "Serb" (Srbin) means nothing in Serbian and is not of Slavic origin.
This is why some historians are researching the pre-Slavic origins of the Serbs.
Slavonic tie is more based upon language, traditions, regions, religion and migrations, more than ethnicity.

There are many people who live in it and want to leave it.
Also, look at Switzerland, one of the most advanced states is out of EU.

Yes.
Mainly strategic. It has always been like this on the Balkans, too much foreign interests because of its position.
There is a large military base of NATO, some say, the largest outside USA, after Vietnam war.
There might be some apologia like "We aren't against Islam, we help Muslims of the Balkans" blah, blah.
Kosovo, although small, has also respectful mineral resources, it should just be mentioned.

Camp Bondsteel is the biggest foreign US military base since the Vietnam war, located in the southern part of the Serbian province of Kosovo, near the city of Uroševac. It is located close to the planned route of the oil and gas pipelines and energy corridors, such as the US sponsored Nabucco pipeline.

Jews were chased out of their lands in the ancient times.
There was no Israel. In that territory, only a small number of Jews continued to live.

So the ancient lands of Slavic people are, Dnieper and Oder River, "the lands of today's Eastern Russia, and Ukraine" (if this term is more suitable to you) or "the land of today's Poland".
If you want to use the term of Slavic and Varyag tribes does not change anything, You can use the term Prussians but we know that they were the ancestors of today's Germans, like Romans were the ancestors of today's Italians.

Slavic peoples are divided and were divided in the past.
Germans belong to Teutonic (Germanic) group of peoples. They are not the only ones. We can tell things like this for many European nations.

And Romans aren't ancestors of today's Italians. Romans weren't an ethnic group and only a part of them was of Latin origin. They shared country, language, religion, culture, lifestyle and administration.
Italy was united in 19th century. There are more than one "type" of Italians.
You should know yourself who ruled that area before if you know history.

But ethnicities are the same. Russians have been Russians since they had been formed as a nation (of Varyag tribe - Rus, that mixed with local Slavs). They formed a country. Ever heard of Kiev Russia?

Anyway, I think that hopefully, some day Kosovo and Serbia will get along as good neighbours in the future.
The present generation can not swallow the term "get along". That is a big chunk to swallow but the future generations will look differently. I kind of lean more towards JuWoMA's judjement... I think she is kind of "right".
