Nothing ironic about that. In almost all wars involving irregular militia forces like the Vietcong, captured enemy supplies including weaponry were very welcome. It was even documented that the NVA gave out rewards to the VC as incentive for taking and using enemy weapons.

Some parts I had to make extra thick to make them durable in skirmish. But overall, about 5% error in dimension to the real thing. All external details were derived from images with what few known measurements there are.

Correct. At least that's the fantasy for me. None of the actual units used during the Vietnam conflict were captured by the enemy. One of the few surviving originals on display in the War Remnants museum, Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) City was actually donated by the US government.

Probably not as there are already several shell-ejecting replicas available from Tanaka, Marushin and Maruzen. Making one myself might actually be easier though as I'd at least have real shotguns to copy the schematic from. For the China Lake, it was mostly guess work from my part (schematics of the real one are practically non existent) and turned to real shotgun mechanisms for inspiration.

I have that same SKS 10 pouch chest rig! Found it while my dad's friend was moving. It fits m4 mags easy, but I was gonna wear it as a belt below an NC Star Ak rig, and also fill it with 40mms. What a coincidence. (I cant use the shoulder straps or its way over my belly button because im 6'4 and it only adjusts so much)

Sort of. The bolt is held forward even if tilted vertically by the disconnector. It has to exceed a certain amount of pressure from the pump handle before it disengages and frees the bolt to move backwards. Also works as an out-of-battery safety as the firing pin is also disconnected. It does not however have a lock to keep from ejecting a live round. On the real one, it's that tab right under the ejection port and I couldn't make it work on mine having no working hammer.

How did you make the extractor and "kicker" to eject the shells?

Much like in real firearm design, the extractor is a spring loaded claw that hooks against the rim of the cartridge/shell. I made mine out of 1.5mm stainless steel sheet. The ejector can vary from a spring loaded one, or static. I used static in mine so you can control how aggressive the shells fly out depending on how hard you pump the gun.
