I was 12 years old when my dad took me to that game. It was sooo loud after that catch. I didn't understand at the time what i had just witnessed but, I thank my father for giving me that memory.
I REMEMBER THIS CATCH--OTIS WAS THE BEST BASE STEALER IN BRAVES HISTORY AND THEN LOOK AT THIS CATCH HERE---YALL REMEMBER THE 6 STOLEN BASES BY OTIS AND DION SANDERS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE WHEELS ON THAT TEAM!!
I was at this game and it was my first game ever. I was still in my dads balls. I couldnt see much, but I know it was good cause my dad was excited cause we were jumping around alot. That was the first time I met mommy too! 8====D

I was 12 years old and actually went to the Friday night game of the series with my Dad---if I remember right this Catch was on Sat night. What an exciting time to be a Braves fan.
I hate youtube and MLB's copyright stuff ... there's nothing better than watching the actual video!! what is MLB doing? they put their videos in files to get dust all over ..C'mon let us share the videos ...we don't get paid for this!!
I am currently thinking about put another 2 great plays. One of them is going to be Brooks Conrad's Grand Slam and the other is up for you guys to vote on. So comment!
My dad and I were just talking about this the other day. I still can't think of a greater catch in MLB history. It was so profoundly awesome my mother — no baseball fan — instantly understood what Nixon had done.
Oh yeah, well I was at the game. I think Danny Jackson held the Braves to only one hit, which was a homer that decided the ballgame. Leibrandt picked off at least two baserunners that nearly got Jim Leyland thrown out the game.
We all thought that Van Slyke had hit it out. We went nuts when Nixon caught it and through it back in.
I REMEMBER BEING 11 YRZ OLD AND WATCHING THIS CATCH LIVE. SRY VAN SLYKE BUT U GOT JACKED 10 FOLD BY OTIS. I COULD SAFELY SAY THAT THAT WAS BY FAR THE BEST CATCH I HAVE EVER SEEN. BEING HOW BAD THE BRAVOS WERE IN THE 80Z SOLIDIFIES MY DECISION.
I was 11 will never forget this catch! Talking to my friend about it the other day reminded me to look on youtube, the first time I looked I never found it (years ago) thank you for posting this!!!!!
@Stardustgirl310 Hahaha... Dude same for me. I was probably about 10 or 11. I bring this up to friends all the time caus I moved away from Georgia for the Navy and now I live in Seattle and they dont remember Otis Nixon.
I remember vividly being at work -- a tiny pizza joint in Gwinnett County -- and having to go out on a delivery. But on my way out the door, pizzas in hand, I stopped for a minute to watch Van Slyke's at bat on the little TV we had propped in the corner for watching Braves games. We all jumped up and down and yelled "Holy --- did you see that!" when Nixon made his catch. Great memory.
@MauryDann73 I was just a kid watching the game with Mom and Dad in the living room. I was 9 years old and I will never forget that catch. I agree, great memory.
greatest catch ever along with willie mays "inventing" the basket catch....andy van slyke was PISSED!!!! hahahahaha...but at least the pirates didnt ALWAYS suck complete balls
Was this in June or July of 1992? I'm pretty sure it was, I recorded this game on TBS and watched it after I got home from work that night. Loved Braves baseball on TBS!!!
Hey guys, I got more videos up now.

I don't think there's another announcer who could have made a better call than Skip Carrey on that play.

@Ballplayer300th When you say no homo, it's assuming that people think, or even care that you might be homosexual. Pretty insecure if you ask me.
